When I was in pre-deployment training at Blackwater before heading to Bahrain in '06, we were doing close order drills on steel with our M9s using ball ammo. At 1.5m I caught some shrapnel in my neck. I had it pulled out by a buddy with my multi-tool. I still have it in a ziplock bag in my desk drawer. Another friend of mine also caught shrapnel in the neck but it almost caught his carotid, missed it by a millimeter or so. He was rushed off to the ER and came back with a gnarly scar that evolved into a ripe pink welt by the time our tour was done a year later. Shrapnel is no joke, and it doesn't always just go down. Cool video though.

We have shot them thousands of times and never had anything come back at us. It is a amazing target system and has added a lot of enjoyment to our target shooting.

Absolute best portable steel target system we have ever used. We take it with us everywhere. It is a huge hit with our students. We LOVE their AR550 blue hanging hooks.

What about hitting a dueling tree, does the angel of the pivot point deflect the angel outwards 90 degreens (Left ot Right)? Great info - thanks

Thanks Nick. Yes, it will go out at 90 degrees from contact. But if it’s angled down, it will stop from going up. It will make it more like a 180 degree sprinkler head.

Spalling is fragments from the target, splash is fragments from the bullet.

    Pistol unholstered in a pocket?

Forgot the holster in range bag that day. Didn’t want to set it down in the dirt. Desperate times… desperate measures… unloaded and safety on.

Dude, seriously, get a holster! Your pocket is not a holster! You also don't just walk around the ranger with you firearm in your hand!
Also, it's called spall, not splatter.
