Sonic R 2004 (PC)

The 2004 remake of Sonic R features much better controls and some bugfixes, for example it is now possible to unlock a hidden character in a track and getting the emerald(s) in the same track as well, unlike the original game.
Unfortunately, even with mods, the lightning is inferior compared to the original Saturn version.
