If I were to do the builder gel one day and paint them the next. Do I just leave them without a top coat? Is there any prep involved before painting then?
Hi Jen!! Yep you can leave them without a top coat! Make sure to wipe off the tacky layer, file the top some, then when you want to dip them the next day- wipe it off with isopropyl alcohol. Then you can start dipping!! Let me know any questions you have!!
question if i choose Forward, do i go left to right when i use the efile (going with the forward direction) OR right to left (going against the forward option) ??
When the efile is in your right hand efiling on your left hand- it should be in forwards and your bit is moving left to right (and down). When your efile is in your left hand efiling on your right hand- it should be in reverse and your bit is moving right to left (and down).
@@NicolesBeautyScenethanks for confirming. i just started doing it at home. its harder when i do my left hand. hard to control the efile. is there a file (same effect as efile)i can use manually to do my left nails? haha im a little scared. i want to continue my biogel at home so i got the bioseaweed base, sculpturex and top coat.
Hi! You don’t have to get an efile yet! You can hand file- it just takes a lot longer! Here’s how I use a hand file to do a fill. If it takes too long for your liking- I’m happy to help you with using an efile! I have tons of videos! Once you get it down pat, how long does it take to do a full set and then fill-in's? Just watched part 1 where you said it took you 2 hours but I'm wondering if that's the norm? I'm trying to jump back on the DIY gel nail train but the time is the biggest obstacle for me to hurdle.
So when my nails are short- only about an hour to do either. When my nails are longer and I need more layers- closer to 2 hours. I do that one night and then dip my nails another night! There isn’t a huge difference with fillings or full set doing builder gel overlays. Because I still have to do a rebalance and file down some of the bulk of the old gel for a fill-in. so a full set might take an extra 10 minutes if even that. For me a full set is just filing down more of the old builder gel. That’s really just the difference. I never do soak offs in acetone. I always use an e-file. I haven’t touched acetone for a soak off in probably almost 4 years!
this was so so so helpful, thanks so much Nicole!
You’re welcome!! Let me know any time you have any questions!!!

Do you recommend that I get an E-File? Am I okay to just file by hand? lmk:)!

Everytime i do a fill like this the new layer just peels away.
I can help you!! What are your prep steps?
Dehydrator and acid primer on my natural nails. I have oily, paper thin natural nails.
