Either do something about it if they can (surgery, learning what looks good on them for example) or just focus on other things. There are other qualities to a person then looks. Beauty is like money, it's really nice to have it, but it's not a requirement for happiness.
@@MrVinceMunro I suppose that it isn't a requirement for happiness but I doubt there is anyone on earth who isn't impacted by how they look. My two cents (as a painter) I think no one is really ugly people just don't know how to look their best! And also to me there is a thing much more important than classical beauty . Beauty alone obviously helps but it's not a requirement to be charming ! There is a lot of people who wouldn't be considered perfect at all but look absolutely alluring and you can't take your eyes off them . It's a mix of the way they talk, walk , dress themselves. But then you see them spitting on the floor or being rude to someone and suddenly they are not so attractive anymore . Now imagine an old lady who still puts her best effort on putting makeup doing her hair and dress glamorously. I would be instantly drawn to her! As an adult, I've come to find that while smiling while showing teeth can be inviting to people and make you look approachable, it can also signal to manipulative and anti-social personality types that you're easy prey. Also if you're a person with significant resources that other people want (financial/material and/or a high sexual market value i.e. beautiful/great build, etc), a wide toothy smile tends to attract even the most diametrically opposed people i.e. unattractive individuals and those who are not of your socioeconomic group. It can also unfortunately have the effect of making one look less intelligent than they are which goes back to the first reason, which is that it makes you look easily manipulable. A stern, resting bitch face may make you look too aloof and unapproachable on the other hand, such that it may discourage people from wanting to form valuable relationships with you, and you may end up loosing out on great opportunities because of this. Think of the number of times you've heard someone great say that they wanted to approach someone else and ask them out on a date, but that person they wanted to ask out was just too intimidating to approach. I've found that a good middle ground is to do what Tyra Banks calls smiling with your eyes, and smiling slightly with your mouth closed such that your lips are only slightly upturned. This gives you both a degree of approachability but it also has enough seriousness to keep manipulators away. It gives people the sense that your warm enough to deal with, but also intelligent and trust worthy to not take crap from anyone.

Hi Qoves Studio. I am actually glad that you acknowledged that the beauty culture in the anglosphere is different than the rest of the world. In your beauty culture series I believe your intentions of distinguishing beauty standards by ethnic features was in the right place, however, you missed one MAJOR point. That is those of us who are minorities that were born and raised in western cultures are held to the same beauty standards as caucasians. I think this is why for example an African American, Indian Americans, or Asian American will be ranked a 3 on the 1-10 looks scale in America the more their ethnic features stand out, but they'll be ranked a 6 on the African, Indian, or Asian continent. Which you acknowledge in your video, but I think the difference is that minorities raised in predominantly westernized Anglo cultures also rank each other by caucasian standards of beauty. So again for example most Africans born on the African continent would rank a certain African American a 6 on the 1-10 looks scale, but in America most of the OTHER African Americans would rank him/her a 3 just as there white American counterparts would. Because they all sat infront of the same television shows, looked at the same magazine pictures, watch the same movies showing caucasian facial features as being the standard of beauty. Anyway this was just something to think...

I like that your videos don't sugarcoat things. Interesting topic. I was told that i'm happy-go-lucky and friendly all throughout my life. But i changed and became more reclusive recently. I joined a 2 month training program last October, and strangely enough more people were attracted to me in my aloof state than there were before
Does anyone know how models can hold their focus and expression without laughing? I can’t do more than two or three pictures without cracking myself up.
trust me, when you are a model it gets harder to smile than to have an expressionless face. If you are really serious about your modeling career, you have to start thinking like an adult and stop laughing at everything. These models get paid to do something, better be good at it.
I usually never smile for pictures and it's because I think i look weird in pictures when I do smile and my friends who ALWAYS smile for pictures ask me how I do it? Like, how can I not smile for pictures??? I just find it more comfortable. I smile for pictures when I'm actually having fun and it works for me. Fake smile just looks weird but people keep telling me to smile for pictures and it's so freaking annoying. Just let people do what they want.
Great video as always! :) But there are a lot of 'smiles'. There is the genuine, confident one, the award smile, the fake smile, the submissive/unconfident smile that asks the receiver for validation, and so on. I would love to hear your thoughts on how the different types might affect attractiveness? I find that insecure people often use the 'submissive' smile (and unattractive people are often insecure), and wonder if this could be the reason why smiles have such a small effect on unattractive people; because they tend to use a smile that lowers their status even more?
I always thought smiling kinda "distorts" (not in a bad way) the face, like, a person with a oval face can distort the face into a round face when they smile 🤔
The "you look prettier when you smile" has sexist origins and imo shouldn't be used in this video as an example of "aesthetics" or anything of the type. It doesn't fit the situation very well.
Basically either we are attractive or we are not, and there is somewhat of a standard of beauty that a person may have and that most people would find attractive. Also, the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" quote has truth to it as well.
Marilyn Monroe, one of the most beautiful women in the world, who would be considered not super thin to today's standards, and was an incredible feminist while she was alive, smiled all the time in her photos and videos and she looked absolutely stunning when she did so. She just knew what worked for her. She's literally so incredible that even long after her death, people still know about her and are inspired by her. So, when it comes to models frowning, people frowning, that can be beautiful for sure, but so can a smile. And Marilyn is a good example of that.
Your videos are amazing! I would advise speaking a little more enthusiastically. Sometimes the monotonous voice is a little hard to follow. Your videos are very well researched you deserve a lot more subscribers.
Thank you for this. I have a round face and I don't smile much in pictures because I don't want to make my face look any more round than it already is lol.
I'm Russian and I think we do smile less unless we're with friends and stuff or caught in a moment but what's also interesting is that I think growing up and to this day the acceptable kind of smile for school pictures and anything formal has been a closed smile, you also can't smile in a passport photo here so I was surprised when I first saw American passport photos and IDs haha I wish we could do more than just smize. Unless it's a candid or casual photo I would feel weird and almost vulgar smiling with my teeth and I love smiling. I dont think I've ever seen anybody smiling with their teeth in a yearbook photo lol that gives me really strong American highschool vibes haha like in a commercial when the teeth sparkle with a little ding! sound as the person winks at the camera
I cant not smile in pics or selfies. I feel very awkward because it's too serious & I feel it would only work if your attractive. Personally, I feel stupid trying a series pose because I feel like I'm cringey, and trying too hard. Like I cant take myself serious and think of myself as pretty. So I smile so I wont look that ugly because at least from what my parents tell me, my smile is nice. I dont entirely believe them. I just feel utterly disgusted with myself and hence why I hate pictures and looking into mirrors all together.
If you smile, you'll attract more good ppl naturally into your life, but you have to do it smartly. You can smile if you want to get something from them to. They'll give it to you fast. But don't do it too often!
I personally look HORRIBLE if I smile whilst showing my teeth, because for 1 my teeth are crooked and 2 my cheecks puff up so much and the fat on my face just doesn't seem to properly move and ends up looking horrific. Which is why I've always done a soft smile with my mouth closed, which imo and my families opinion definitely looks better, though I still have a ''resting bitch face'' most of the time. Sadly when I was in elementary school the photographer would tell me to show my teeth or else they wouldn't even take my school picture, it was ridiculous. Now I've just accepted that a soft smile works better for my face, it makes my eyes look nice whilst not overly puffing my cheecks up, and there are no weird lines or anything appearing on my face, but even then I still have that obsession with getting the perfect smile showing their teeth, but my face definitely isn't for that lmao. Glad this video got recommended.
A smile has the lips curved up, the cheek muscles lifted up which gives a rounded fuller face. The eyes also smile. All these together make a person's face beautiful. Not only that there a psychology behind this. A smiling person is calm and relaxed. Anyone who sees this person immediately relaxes that ‘ok there is no tension in this vicinity’. This is what we all of want from others. No tension, no anger and only peace of mind. So our smile is IMPORTANT for others as much as it is good for our own physical beauty and mental health. So guys don't obsess over this video.
I just really hate when someone is taking a picture of me and ask me to smile. I don't know how to pose and smiling makes me look ugly. I do a lot of selfies and out of like 50 of my selfies I only smiled once. It's not even a regular normal smile. It looks like this emoji (^~^) instead of this 😁 smile people usually do.
I've always look better with my poker face... although my teeths are pretty good and people compliment about it still whenever I smile my face deforms (I mean look kinda different)...I always wondered why because the common misconception is smile make you look better... which is not very true for every single person...
So recently i stop smiling when i take a picture and turns out everybody says i look way more attractive when i don't smile on picture. Btw i'm not photogenic, almost every person that saw my pics said that i look better in real life. So maybe smiling is not for everyone hahaa
It's not about looking good most people think that they need to smile even when they aren't feeling happy to make other people feel comfortable just be you don't care about what other people think
@@Granglife yes that's true. I was just saying it because how in this channel they talk about attractiveness and how we ourselves can become more attractive. I think smiling make your more approachable and less cool for the whole idea of photoshoot. Beside not smiling might make your more attractive or pretty much mysterious attractiveness. You know like actual formal photoshoot. But to me I prefer taking photo of happy face but trust me never been easy. Smiling genuinely is pretty hard to capture.
Smiling is attractive if somebody smiles AT YOU, and then it's not attractive because their smiling per se, but because their acknowledging YOU as a person
Smile is to bring you into the person while not smiling is bringing you to look at everything around a person. This is why often it is guys demand to see the smile from the girl(s) they look at, because they wanna feel her. Models are meant to display the clothes and accessories, so the culture is they should not smile so people won't be distracted by them and focus what they are putting on.
I don't like to smile on pictures because I have a big nose that when I don't smile is on the verge of being too long and if I do smile it just seems even longer

Can you do princess Diana's face analyse . I always find her more beautiful than the actresses who played her in any movies or series.
I don't think she was beautiful, but definitely charming
@@sofitocyn100 same. My mom says she is insanely beautiful but i never saw anything special. Its her charm actually..
Commenting for the algorithm
"Being happy is the most relatable emotion". Ya, depression says hi.
I like that your videos don't sugarcoat things. Interesting topic. I was told that i'm happy-go-lucky and friendly all throughout my life. But i changed and became more reclusive recently. I joined a 2 month training program last October, and strangely enough more people were attracted to me in my aloof state than there were before
Can you do Alain Delon next? He's considered as the most attractive actor of all times!
Does anyone know how models can hold their focus and expression without laughing? I can’t do more than two or three pictures without cracking myself up.
Practice and money
trust me, when you are a model it gets harder to smile than to have an expressionless face. If you are really serious about your modeling career, you have to start thinking like an adult and stop laughing at everything. These models get paid to do something, better be good at it.
@@amira2809 that's why they're asking for advice?
@@vudi2103 they arent tho. Theyre clearly asking for the reason why models can do it when they(the commenter) feels the need to laugh
I'm so lame! Whenever they started smiling I did too. Smiling is contagious to me
u have a pretty smile !!:))
Why do these videos always feel like a roast
Because feelings are irrational
Qoves, I love love your honesty. It is incredibly refreshing.
if you smiled while walking past someone in the Slavic countries, people would think you lost it...
Everytime I keep a neutral face people ask me why I'm so angry like no my face just sits like this
i always smile when i take a photo.Smiling will always bring you a positive aurea
Neutral faces are more of a mystery, hence, can be perceived to be more attractive than angry or happy faces.
I always thought smiling kinda "distorts" (not in a bad way) the face, like, a person with a oval face can distort the face into a round face when they smile 🤔
I dont think so, unless you have chubby cheeks, yes smiling will push the face fat outwards
The "you look prettier when you smile" has sexist origins and imo shouldn't be used in this video as an example of "aesthetics" or anything of the type. It doesn't fit the situation very well.
I think the point they are making is that it's bs.
Glad to finally know I’m ugly no matter what
This is so interesting! I would love to know if there is some formula for figuring out what expression looks best on my face. Thanks for the info!!
My face crinkles too much when I smile
I actually think people smiling too much can look cunning
like every other talent, beauty is also god given
A smile, a genuine one obviously, make your eyes brighter
I look way dorkier when I smile 😅
You look good with the smile
@@VilinaRai Aw, thank you!

Thank you! I alway though I had to smile to be attractive. Now I can easily enjoy my natural resting face.

Dont smile, it gives you wrinkles. So lets go for neutral 👌🏽
Your videos are amazing! I would advise speaking a little more enthusiastically. Sometimes the monotonous voice is a little hard to follow. Your videos are very well researched you deserve a lot more subscribers.
Who is the model in the thumbnail? She is so pretty.

Neutral = hot
could you please do a video on Anya taylor-joy? I loved her look on the queen’s gambit
Im a model and i dont smile because i look so ugly when i do , thats my reason why not to smile 😂😂😂
Attractiveness privilege is real and the lack of it is a real struggle
If you smile, you'll attract more good ppl naturally into your life, but you have to do it smartly.
You can smile if you want to get something from them to. They'll give it to you fast. But don't do it too often!
I appear dominant and i am a girl is that bad? Most kids my age aren’t “Dominant” i have a case of a RBF and i have prominent shoulders.
Why bad? That's a beauty type. Looking powerful and strong. ❤️
Not at all
I personally look HORRIBLE if I smile whilst showing my teeth, because for 1 my teeth are crooked and 2 my cheecks puff up so much and the fat on my face just doesn't seem to properly move and ends up looking horrific. Glad this video got recommended.
can you make a video about people with really beautiful smiles like vera farmiga or beyonce ??
A smile has the lips curved up, the cheek muscles lifted up which gives a rounded fuller face. The eyes also smile. All these together make a person's face beautiful.
Not only that there a psychology behind this. A smiling person is calm and relaxed. Anyone who sees this person immediately relaxes that ‘ok there is no tension in this vicinity’.
This is what we all of want from others. No tension, no anger and only peace of mind. So our smile is IMPORTANT for others as much as it is good for our own physical beauty and mental health.
So guys don't obsess over this video.
If you're a man the last thing you want your face to be is "rounded"
I wasn't already a person who smiles a lot and now I think there's no need to smile, so be happy a ugly person is not gonna smile too...
My mom says my smile lines mean I'm a happy baby.
Okay. But straight up: why when I use to do print modeling, did everyone say that my smile was my "secret weapon"?
can you make a vid about androgeny? I think androgenous people are the most good looking
except ‘Androgenous Pat’ types
I've always look better with my poker face... although my teeths are pretty good and people compliment about it still whenever I smile my face deforms (I mean look kinda different)...I always wondered why because the common misconception is smile make you look better... which is not very true for every single person...
Please analyse Olivia Hussey and Ingrid Bergman!
To people asking, asymmetrical faces can be corrected using consistent facial exercise.
So recently i stop smiling when i take a picture and turns out everybody says i look way more attractive when i don't smile on picture. Btw i'm not photogenic, almost every person that saw my pics said that i look better in real life. So maybe smiling is not for everyone hahaa
Who cares if someone likes u or not. As long as ur smiling ur gud. Keep smiling y'all
It's not about looking good most people think that they need to smile even when they aren't feeling happy to make other people feel comfortable
just be you don't care about what other people think
@@Granglife yes that's true. I was just saying it because how in this channel they talk about attractiveness and how we ourselves can become more attractive. Whilst subject was about how ppl can look more attractive while not smiling and ppl become long-faced just to look gud. I just wanna put it out there feel gud. 🤝Surgery planning time🤝at least my nose (broken) and perhaps the tip of my jaw a bit? Then, just some pigmentation on my lips, focusing on good skincare and sun protection, and perhaps small cosmetic procedures later in life, for scars as an example or wrinkles (tho aging naturally and gracefully is beautiful) I’d like to focus on good and healthy nutrition, haircare (long and healthy hair, lashes and brows)
i’m naturally quite small framed and have a nice figure but i’d love to be more feminine, especially my facial features. Also my teeth have always been an insecurity. Not quite perfect even after having braces. Might have to do something for them too. Meanwhile trying to get into university, actually enjoy and live and experience life, work and save money (for other investments too... but yes beauty is money) and develop myself further. I’m so eager to already ”get there”, almost makes me anxious. A human is not a project tho :(
Another advantage of a neutral face: less wrinkles than people of my age 😌
What about ear anatomy and it's overall role in assessing faces.
for photos, I feel more comfortable having a neutral expression or smiling with my mouth closed because my face is likely to come out more even. fully smiling does flatter my lower third though
Dont lie. Girls smile compulsively 😂😂😂
I dont smile because i have crooked teeth. But i get the vibe that everyone around me thinks im being unfriendly and pissed off
8:48 she is so gorgeous
An ordinary girl from everywhere 😂
I think smiling make your more approachable and less cool for the whole idea of photoshoot. Beside not smiling might make your more attractive or pretty much mysterious attractiveness. You know like actual formal photoshoot. But to me I prefer taking photo of happy face but trust me never been easy. Smiling genuinely is pretty hard to capture.
Who’s the girl on the thumbnail ?
I don't smile because I look like 👹 when I do.
Smiling is attractive if somebody smiles AT YOU, and then it's not attractive because their smiling per se, but because their acknowledging YOU as a person
A carnivore diet nose to tail will do a lot for skin texture...
Just don't think too much about that and smile when you feel like doing so! Be genuine, that's it.
