Altough we had the keys to the logic cabinet, he couln't figure out how to control the rooftop for some reason, as all theese elevators there had a protection against low top and low bottom, that needs to be resetted with a button on the shaft pit as when you open any shaft doors and breaking teh circuit. very wierd. (Elevators fitted with low top/bottom protection seems to be very hard to control in service mode, and hardly starts into service afterwards... but that is an swedish requirement)

+Tom Bowell A**ders car park is good for some lift experiments. There are no cameras on the top floor. These ones are quite easy to open up. The doors have the drop key mechanism but are fitted with triangle key (no drop key required). The triangle key turns around the pin that hits the drop key mechanism. So to start with it feels like it isn't doing anything until you turn it so far and it hits the unlatcher. These lifts go out of service if you open the door while it is moving (it comes back into service after 20 minutes or if you switch the car top switch to inspection then wait 10 seconds then turn it back to normal). This place is very quiet so its a good place to experiment (be careful about the long drop when the lifts down the bottom). As for lift surfing, thats your own choice. Great video! Is it normal for an ecodisc to park on the groundfloor with the doors open when it's out of service? I've filmed an ecodisc once in my local erea, and one day it was out of service. It was parked on the groundfloor and the doors where open. Cab lights where on. Interessting to see that Kone still uses ropes, where Otis brags about their flat belt technology along with a wear reporting feature. I know of a small (semi-generic) company in the netherlands that uses an otis gen2 motor. Turns out that they are a company taken over by Otis and are marketed as a cheaper alternative. Somehow I get the feeling that Otis wants to position them selves as a "posh upmarket" brand.
+dykodesigns2yt If the logic detects a fault it opens its doors, maybe it was on ground when the fault occurred, or it was moving and ground was the nearest floor to return to in emergency rescue mode. I am not convinced by Otis's belt cables. With the ecodisc, belt cables would not work. Ecodiscs have 2:1 cabling. When the cables go through the wheels under the lift they are along across the lift, but when the go around the motor they are perpendicular to the lift. From the lift wheel to the motor the cables are twisted. Belt cables would not like this. Otis often use the names of companies they have taken over for their cheap lifts. Otis under their own name want to look posh but they install 2m/s lifts with no chassis into 100 meter towers, which is very poor for a company like Otis.
This is memes! I remember, I live in Sweden so they had English in the lifts when they were first installed, but they got Swedish recorded and I was destroyed😢😢
Actually, many ecodiscs do not open them doors until the complete stop. And I've also discovered that stupid way of securing staff only floor in the ecodisc in Poland.
I have done that loads of times. The lift just emergency stops. I have done it a couple of times while holding the brake open which can be weird. Although modern day lifts have a dual mode governor which would trip.
Electronic brake release is dangerous in my opinion. On multiple occasions I have found lifts where the little battery gen2 lifts where the software glitches and it wont release the brake. There is nothing wrong with a good old fashioned bike cable to release the brake. It does the job perfectly and does not rely on electronics. Even with dual mode governors, a bike cable does the job fine, there just has to be a warning on it to set the governor to allow movement before pulling the brake release.

They have to be self-closing. required by law. It's a safety thing. If the maintainer opens a door, it should close by itself it he lets go. That way, you prevent dangerous situations where a door is opened unattended, leaving a gaping hole, making you able to step into it and fall down the shaft. The weight in the door is connected to the door panels in such a way, that if it goes down, it pulls the doors shut.
+SuperEmbracer I was caught by staff up on the top floor of Chatham Tesco. He noticed the lift wasn't working and went up to the motor room. The police were called. They were very angry but they had to let me go as the police are not allowed to arrest people for civil offences.
+BossHeins Craft Without a chassis there is a lot more creaking from the lift car. Also there is quite a bit of wobble in the lift car. It is weaker without a chassis, but it still has to work, so the ceiling isn't going to fall down.

YOU WIN AN ECODISC!!!!!!!!!
FLORIDIAN ELEVATORS HATES IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There Is One At Eldon Square Street
Is this a 3rd gen ecodisc
Beno, wut means that noise from the right hand side ecodisc?
It’s a monospace ecodisc is the motor
Nope, it is a Ecodisc mk 2 base model chasisless edition. Model number ECO2-001-LCEmk2-H73D
@@benolifts no you are wrong ecodisc is just the name of the motor and the actual lift model is called Monospace
Speaking from experience, you’re talking about a MonoSpace 500. Not a second gen EcoDisc, because that’s the motor.
Sydney: EcoDisc LANd
Where was this filmed?
Do you know what the error codes mean? I just know that Number 21 mean that the safety is broken (Emergency Stop Button, Door..)

Where these Ecodiscs are?
why do the doors have counter weights
They have to be self-closing. required by law. It's a safety thing. If the maintainer opens a door, it should close by itself it he lets go. That way, you prevent dangerous situations where a door is opened unattended, leaving a gaping hole, making you able to step into it and fall down the shaft. The weight in the door is connected to the door panels in such a way, that if it goes down, it pulls the doors shut.
Hello Ecodisc XD
i did this at college and everyone was like wtf its not working
KONE is awesome.
have you been caught for surfing lifts before beno?
+SuperEmbracer Yes. At chatham Tesco.
But that still did not deter you from surfing. I love your elevator videos by the way
+SuperEmbracer I was caught by staff up on the top floor of Chatham Tesco. He noticed the lift wasn't working and went up to the motor room. The police were called. They were very angry but they had to let me go as the police are not allowed to arrest people for civil offences.
@@benolifts you are so lucky
how u get out when u done surfin ??
by opening the door
@@LiftsInGermany Grabbing the rowller
Are kone lifts reliable.?
Quite.
anyways, i was wondering that if a lift doesn't have a chassis, the ceiling would fall down. I know I am wrong, but it could happen in an accident.
+BossHeins Craft Without a chassis there is a lot more creaking from the lift car. Also there is quite a bit of wobble in the lift car. It is weaker without a chassis, but it still has to work, so the ceiling isn't going to fall down.
+Beno by the way that crap generic hydraulic lift in Sydney opera house doesn't have a
-chassis
-ceiling
-car top controls
+Beno unarutrized lift surfer!!
+Heins Daniello There is a lift with glass ceiling in Paris pompidou center that doesn't have a car top control. I wonder how they maintain them.
Not only are Ecodiscs good but most lifts by KONE are
are any type of a gen2 lift an eco disk?
No
oh fair is fair as i know now lol
Yay!
I keep getting UA-cam reply emails with Salifrt Salifrt wanting to chat with Beno and then coming here and they are not there! What the?
+Knuckles the Echidna You should see how many times he yells at me to talk to him on hangouts. Since getting back home from 4 days in hospital he has sent me over 100 messages getting cross at me for not talking to him. I will ask him to not leave video comments because if I am not at my computer then its not possible to talk. Also he has been asking me how he can surf a lift in his block. After talking to him for a while I realised that he wouldn't be able to do it safely. When I told him it wasn't a good idea to lift surf he got mega angry with me. I enjoy talking to my subscribers, but this has got out of hand.
+Beno Aaaah I know the feeling, said the wrong thing (accidentally) to someone with depression on a website about the classic Amiga computer once, quite a friendly thing it was (or it would be to most other people) and got MEGA amounts of angry messages! This channel is great because it means we can see the lift workings without risking a surf ourselves :D
+Ákos Petik Lol that bit is funny
lol Hello Ecodisc xD
