@@palexanderrice we already have it back in America there's the pop up stores in Macy's and the flagship store at the mall of America in Bloomington MN they did have one in the American Dream Mall in New Jersey but I think it shutdown
Sad day for Americans I wasn't understanding what town center you where talking about to me an hour to find out it was in Canada. And Sad day for the 90s kid inside me.
Yeah I remembered is used to go there when I was a kid to buy several to a lot of toys but everyone’s favorite toy store closed down and went outta business I thought they just need time so they could come back so I waited and waited and I can’t even remember the last time I went there before it shut down it’s been almost half or a complete decade everyone now matter the age will always remember their best childhood memories
It's great to see a childhood store is coming back first in Canada! I love this. I hope there will be more stores to come to the U.S. than not just Canada!
There’s one at a mall in New York. The UA-camr M and R productions went there to look for Star Wars Lego Same old crap though. Overpriced stuff you could get everywhere else. That’s the reason they went out of business in the first place. People were able to check prices to easily. The same reason why stores like ShopKo and Kmart went out.
Hello my name is Jack. I am a Lostboy Never to grow up. I am very very happy to see that there is a Toys r Us in you're City. Amazing back in the day l was at Toys r Us pretty much 💜 every weekend paying Toys. I am also a self made Toyolgist for about 40yrs. I love your enthusiasm when you're in the toy store it reminds me of myself back in the day wow continue to have fun my friend take care and I'll be following you.
My favorite part is Toys “R” Us was around Christmas time. The commercials were amazing. Used to go at least once a month on a Saturday. My mom and dad took us then I grew and got a job there I worked about four years so that differently you’re working there and then shopping there. I prefer to be eating a customer instead of working there, so I quit and move on still shop there till the day it OK my love closed, I can’t believe it’s coming back soon and will make it back to the states I hope soon
I'm not going to lie...I wish they had let the dead stay dead. Nothing about that layout screams "Toys R' Us" to me. Without the highbays (high shelves in aisles with inventory on top), it just doesn't seem like Toys'R'Us. Also if they want to be OG, they should have tickets for video games again like the old days. If ever they needed that system, it definitely would be now haha. That was one of my favorite things about buying games from Toys R' Us was getting those blue/yellow (or red/white for clearance) tickets for video games, consoles, and accessories. Then you would take it to the register to pay for them, and after that, you would go to the front pick-up area to get all your stuff. I know it can't just be me that loved that experience, I didn't care about not being able to grab the game off the shelf, which made it even more exciting to buy new games haha.
Are you F'N KIDDING ME?? $45 dollars almost for an ACTION FIGURE?? That is so insane! I collected Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and Wrestling figures as a kid, and I had hundreds of them (more Zords for Power Rangers); however, my Dad and Mom definitely would not have bought me shit, if they were $45 dollars! Jesus Christ. I believe action figures were universally $4-6 when I was growing up in the (entirety) of the 90's. I can't even fathom dropping more than a 20 on an action figure....madness. edit: I just talked to my Dad and told him about this and he said "Good thing you're not a kid anymore, because I wouldn't be buying you shit if they were that expensive in the 90's". LOL..
23:06 I got into Hot Wheels collecting last year. I hadn't really looked at them or toys in general in years, I'd been so focused on tech and gaming... but I saw them in a grocery store one day and was shocked to see how high the quality had gotten and how many amazing car models were available. It's not just random weird fantasy cars anymore, the sets are filled with beautifully done fan favorite cars from all the well known and classic makers. And at a buck twenty each, they're just fantastic! It's HARD to find other toys/models/figures with that much detail and visual appeal for so little. The big trend of blind box/ball things comes nowhere close, like 5-10x the cost for far lower quality little toys.
The modernized generation of kids are seriously missing out from the wonders of the early 2000s and prior to it. The only screens we looked at were these big heavy boxes we call the television that you couldn't bring with you and even those never replaced anything. I feel sorry for the children who have to stare at mobile devices just to get through each boring day because there's nothing or nobody available to them, it makes us wonder why apple hasn't brought back the iPod Touch yet because they can capitalize off gen alpha for a substantial gain of profit.
I Guess Toy's R Us decided that downsizing a bit was a smarter move though also means they can position themselves in more populated areas. So pretty smart if done properly.
Got to check Edmonton's branch again. Haven't been there for over a month now and they were putting HMV items like books, cd/records, bluray/dvds, etc.
Honestly, the five Super Targets around my area have more toys and baby stuff than Canadian TRU. They used to easily be the size of an average grocery store. Now, TRU is in Macy’s at a few of our malls.
9:35 Spider-Nan 2099 mask right there a favorite Spider-Man of mine also they done the Assassin Spider-Man from the comic renamed to Spider-Shot i get my stuff from Amazon
When I visited Canada I got the impression they were stuck in the 90s so this makes sense lol what I mean is mainly their buildings and interiors. Idk just reminded me of the 90s I was in the Ontario Niagara Falls area and a lot of things felt stuck in that time period.
I used to work for Toys R Us. I loved it, I still catch myself singing the jingle. Yes, the USA has no actual stores, but many department stores that has a toy section, had partnered up with Toys R Us, I think JC Penny or Macys had partnered up with Toys R Us?
Toys R Us will open stores in select cities but mostly all inside malls Like in the one in NJ. and Houston TX and other cities are coming soon. One has opened at DFW airport near Dallas , TX .
Just a few notes of your lucky walkthrough for Toys R Us. Crystar is from the collection of the same name from the 80's ..love the new designs. and the AT-ST you mention in the Star Wars was actually an AT-AT. still jealous of getting to go through ..Dont know if they are open here in Texas yet or not. But this GenX Toys R Us kid definately has to go haha oh is it just me or does Geoffery look more like Melman from Madagascar?
Is it just me or have recent points of articulations on action figures regressed?? Yeah, the figures got back to being bigger but they lose on points of articulations like legs that bend or arms we can pose?
I think everyone forgot why they closed in the first place. They had stupid high prices. People, myself included, would go in and look, and then go buy it cheaper online. If they ever did come back to the US with the same pricing strategy then they will fail miserably.
They need to be building stores here in the USA 🇺🇸. The few stores here are far between and confined to being inside maceys department stores and those are pretty spread out. Absolutely nothing anywhere near me 😢
If you want my advice, the only 2 things that I think you could apologize for is obnoxious amount of Zelda tunes that play throughout the video, when there was no Zelda content at any point of the tour. Also you forgot about the Sanrio section behind the Barbie one at 12:23. I had to grief so hard when you skipped them, cause I'm a guy fan who just can't get enough of Kuromi. She is both kawaii and freaking hilarious! Criticisms aside, I'm happy to know that Toys R Us is slowly but surely making a comeback. Let's see if they could make it back to the US.
so fun Jay!!! I wish I had you with me when I was there!!!! Seeing a new Toysrus... is a once in a life experience! hopefully they'll announce the grand opening later

It's been making a very slow comeback in the US with I believe only a few locations and all toy sections in Macy's using the brand.

If you look up more, a global company called WHP is recreating it and by 2026 we should see something back in america

The one that used to be in Times Square NYC had a giant ferris wheel that you could actually ride on.
