She sucks, her magic is boss and will annihilate everything after you spend an extremely long of time beating each level. Alucard and Grant allow you to roll through this game. The holy water is better than Sypha’s spells and it’s nice having her for Dracula form 3 but once you’ve mastered it and the other bosses there is no need for her.
Great review bro. You showed off lots of impressive gameplay footage, this is one of my all time fave NES games and I still have never managed to beat it. Love your in depth analysis of the different paths, and the manual pics. WHy am I not surprised to see you have a perfect condition boxed copy?
We are gonna have to dive into your top ten in detail sometime I know we briefly went over it but will have to see where Castlevania 3 ranks up there. Great work on the black box series to so far
It’s hard, the game was so rare that I didn’t know it was out there when it came out. I didn’t find out about it until the early 2000’s and beat it originally on an emulator with save states after buying a copy from GameStop. I can run through the normal mode and hard mode now but it took a long time to build up the skill. Games back then made the player develop in a way games now don’t.
Crazy complex and deep for an NES game. It was way too hard for me as a little kid, but I still rented it several times just because of how colossal it felt.
That’s how I felt too. I didn’t mind the challenge because I had so many ways to go about it. The final area with Dracula tho is still BS they should have given you a checkpoint to return to fight him. It’s pretty unforgivable at times
The game was designed to be beaten with a sub character, in the Japanese version if you beat it with just the Belmont character it says “with no one to share the victory with you leave” and the rest of the ending is the same.
Nah, the best NES game would either be Dragon Quest 3 or Super Mario Bros. 3 (if we don't consider inferior arcade ports). Or maybe some of Mega Man games. Or maybe Punch Out! Actually I'm not sure if (insert favorite Mega Man game here) or Punch Out are better than Castlevania 3, but this is a great game and console that I'm glad are celebrated to this day. Also I have only played the Famicom version.
Love the dragon quest series had the first one early on so I have a lot of nostalgia for the series. It was almost impossible to find the sequels back then second hand.. 3 is def up there for me too and for MM it’s a hard one but I tend to lean towards 4 through 6
Sypha was a beast in this game loved using her freeze spell
She was a blast to use for sure

Simon Belmont was epic in captain N, the game master
Watch so much Captain N! Simon had that super macho man look from Punch out going on 😆
a classic! XD
Beautiful trilogy
It sure is!
Branching paths and a partner system was a pretty big deal for NES standards so It’s near the top for 8 bit
def best of the nes trilogy
I’d agree with that
Didn’t get much time w C3 but loved C4 and symphony
Castlevania 4 came out right after the game released, that’s the one I remember seeing out there.

Could never get past Draculas third form just brutal
I still have ptsd 😑
Takes a lot of attempts, he always targets where you are. The hands shoot left and then right with every fourth shot coming from the head.
Do you enjoy having a character selection compared to having a single character focused adventure? Awesome video 🔥
The more the merrier I say
Castlevania 3 and Super Castlevania were prob my favorites
Super is top shelf 🤩
What happened to grant was he ever mentioned in the series again?
He became mayor like Haggar
@@RockinKatReviewsMayor Nasty 😆
He helps rebuild the city after Dracula is defeated.

Kinda ironic how grant just became forgotten sorta like Sega 😂
They did my guy dirty 😆
I teared up multiple times. Thanks for this.
A true send-off to the 8 bit era !

That def makes sense it really does feel empty doing it alone outside the achievement alone. Surprised grant was never hinted at again in some fashion
Indeed, Super Castlevania 4 is the best of the series imo. I've beat the game countless times, and it's still a blast to play.
hands down the best. Love the og and even simons quest, but this is arguably my fav cv game next to super cv 4
It’s at the top for me aswell.. Rondo and Bkoodlines are up there too but I can easily go back and play CVIII anytime
it is a cool game!
🙏 thanks guys it was a blast playing through
