That incredible styling is impossibly gorgeous! Absolutely beyond belief! The big American cars of the late '50s to late '60s were the envy of the world, in fact the envy of our entire galaxy!
Is it any wonder that this car (medium priced) outsold the Plymouth (a low priced car) to take the #3 spot of BEST selling car in 1959! Pontiac really hit it "out of the park" with this one!!!
That is a real dream car. Everything about this car is beyond fabulous. The '59 Bonneville hardtop was finest looking car of the day and it's power train matched it. The 389 and Hydamatic transmission gave this big car big performance. Pontiac super deluxe styling and supreme interiors were just wonderful. What a find. I love this car.
The day my dad brought home a brand new 1959 Star Chief 4 door hardtop ("vista roof") was the day I defeated my childhood asthma with a huge shot of adrenaline. Never looked back. The 59-62 Pontiacs were the height of GM styling. Dad later bought me my "college car" - a 1962 Catalina 2 door sedan. Great memories. Love them Pontiacs!
Amazing survivor, only original once. Happy that it went to someone that will continue to preserve it. First year "Wide Track". Pontiac had beautiful and unique styling after Bunkie Knudsen took over the division in 1956 and was tasked with changing the image of an old mans car, Thanks for sharing.
Semon "Bunkie" Knudsen had nothing to do with the design of this car. He supervised the 1958 Pontiacs, but not those afterward. Harley Earl was in charge thru 1960, and then Bill Mitchell.
Optimistic is the word for this and many other cars of the era. They reflected the belief that the future was unlimited. You can't not feel happy seeing these cars. The neighborhood selected for this video is perfect.
Charles has absolutely knocked it out of the park with this 1959 Pontiac Bonniville. I like it better than the 1959 Chevrolet Impala. We will never see anything likes manufactured again. This car is truly a National Treasure. The color scheme is out of this world and beyond. Spell binding....🔘.
HOW DID I MISS THIS UPLOAD… Charles darling, you are looking as radiant as always behind the wheel of that’s MAGNIFICENT MOTORCAR….. Sending you all my love from England
Growing up my father bought a 1959 wagon; not the equal of this car but the most upscale of anything our family had ever had. We thought we were really up town!!!! Not top of the line; But will always remember that car as a high point! Thank You for the memory.
Thanks for featuring such high quality cars on your channel, Charles. I think this one may be your best yet...nothing beats original, especially when original is this nice! Beautiful!
I had an uncle that had bonnevilles and catalinas. I totally remember being in the back seat as we drove around feeling like royalty. Everyone would point and look. That car was huge….What a great car and what great memories. Thanks Charles for highlighting this. 😊
Pontiacs were always willing to go outside the box with their designs! Their dashboards were works of art. I have a 1964 and 1965 Bonneville convertibles and they are such a pleasure to drive. For such big cars they are very quick.
Wow this brings back memories! Our family car in the 60's was a '59 Pontiac Bonnevile in the same shade of green! Wow it makes me think of those great vacation trips we took in that car! Thank you for sharing this. What a great car!
Probley the nicest car you have ever posted. This is more valuable than any hemi Cuda . You cannot restore a car like this at any price. Parts don't exist. Right on to the owner for having this and sharing with you, we all know!
We had a black '59 Bonneville convertible in '63-'64! White top, black & white interior, same silvery threads in the carpet and seats😊 I was heartbroken when my dad sold it, but the '63 Olds 98 Sport Coupe he traded it for went a long way towards healing the hurties! Thanks, I love the videos 😊
"Bonneville" in your favorite lesbian aunt's handwriting in gold. Priceless, Charles. All those years she worked for GM, and you are the first to recognize her cursive script talent. 😊
That's a real beauty. I love the full size cars from every GM make in 1959. They are all amazing in one way or another. If it were possible I would own one of each.
well that was incredible. What a rocket ship. The detailing...Pontiac was at the top of the game...going all-in to leave their old frumpy image behind forever. 389 and Wide Track...probably as good a performing car as you could get back in '59. Lol...the 'candy bars'...I always called them cheese graters.
I have seen 59 Pontiacs before. I don't think they were Bonneville, but I know they didn't look like this. Truly stunning! Inside and out it is really amazing. What a find.
Charles, what a gem! Love the dual courtesy lights in the ceiling, the grab bar on the dash, the chrome on the interior around the windows, and the glass work on the car. This car inspired the 60 Edsels design. Some nice upgrades under the hood, dual belts etc.
Of COURSE, it HAD to be Palm Springs, sitting right there on top of the San Andreas fault! Your description of the car had me howling! LOL! Very very funny! Subscribed!
This is the most beautiful Pontiac I have ever seen! Pontiac has a special place in my heart. I owned a 62 Bonneville Safari wagon used in 1970. What a car! It was $5000 new. Had every option available at the time. Speed control, 4 speed automatic, power everything. 303 hp 389. Wagons were the best for hauling my guitar, amps, mics doing gigs back then. Our drummer hade a gorgeous black and white 61 Chevy Nomad 348 tri power wagon to carry his drum set. He converted the automatic to a 4 speed transmission. Our other guitarist/keyboard player had a 62 409 Impala. We played together since jr high 1966-72. Never crossed paths again but often wondered about the cars the had. I sold the wagon in 72 for $20 Transmission went out again stuck in 2nd gear and no reverse, timing chain wore out and then the engine froze. Miss that car😢. It would be worth up to $40,000 or more for one fully restored.
I remember when the '59 models were first released in the papers and magazines. They were stunning. The Pontiac line was a cut above all the others. Plus, there was Pontiac's performance. Genius styling.
What a MAGNIFICENT car from a time when we had artists/designers with style... Nowadays computers and bean counters rule resulting we get cheaply made nondescript vehicles that we can't tell one from to another at a slight distance...
And if you haven't noticed, since they all look the same, manufacturer's are making their emblems larger and larger so you're sure to know who makes it.
YES! High Five Chuck! You remembered to pop open The Hood so that we could see the engine compartment. Thanks Chuck! I don't care what anyone else say's about you, you're alright in my book. :)
@@chrispompano If you have ever been to one of Charles's live retro slide shows (and I have been to MANY of them), you will know that he is a ham. But in the BEST sort of way!!! Love you, Charles!
Long time no hear for one of these joyrides Charles, that and those backup lights look like a preschool child's artisic rendition of a cat's head! Thanks Charles! 🤪👍
Such an amazing and wonderfully preserved car Charles. The stying, GM had it back then. Airy and roomy, a color that works, never mind the performance of Pontiac back then. The fins are my favorite, they remind me of our cat, their shape being on almost the same angle and pointy!
simply stunning! America at her finest!
It is very fitting that it's being driven amongst all those mid-century modern homes in Palm Springs. Very cool!
That incredible styling is impossibly gorgeous! Absolutely beyond belief! The big American cars of the late '50s to late '60s were the envy of the world, in fact the envy of our entire galaxy!
Well said. Impossibly beautiful.

What a work of art. Gorgeous!
Inside and out, a rolling work of art and a survivor to boot.
A glory to behold and celebrate with the finest vintage champagne on this planet in this galaxy and beyond.
Such cool '50's colors! Exceptional car.
Happy new year Charles!

I've always loved this car

Pontiac Bonneville 1959. It is a beautiful and an amazing car!
Thank you for the video!
i love how invested ryan is with every car he owns, no detail is too small to remember!
Great! My Dad bought a 1959 Bonneville four-door with an overhang on the rear window. These cars were (are) works of art.
Ours was white with blue shades of interior. I was almost 5 and my brother was 12. That rear seat was HUGE.
So mesmerizing 😮
Old school bling will always be king, Charles. They went crazy with all the interior detail.
Love the over the top presentation. The car was pretty cool too.
Such a superb survivor...a Automotive GEM! Love the lower Skegs!...I KNOW!
One of the biggest trunks I’ve ever partied in.
That is a incredibly beautiful! Such a great story!!!

Why don’t you? Average new car is $40k. Can get any classic car for that. Two even.
This '59 PONTIAC is above and beyond GORGEOUS! Thank you for uploading this video!!!!!!
