I'm having trouble with screw that loosened to adjust for various bits. It wont go down to small and clamp the bit. You usually just have to retighten screw. But I cant seem to get it to tighten again. Open all the way or to where its stuck. Any ideas?

I dissasembled my M18 CPD and found out gears are "eaten" in gearbox. It had a lot of years so that was no suprise. First maybe negative suprise was that i need to buy whole gearbox and it is impossible to buy just spur gears (nice work milwaukee, see what you did here...)...Ok i ordered gearbox and replaced it but i overlooked that motor assembly has also faulty, eaten gear. So i ordered this piece also. But when i assembled it together the sound i got was not ok, gears were not running ok. I opened it again and i saw that my new motor assembly gear got quite a wear from 5 min "work"...I put extra grease and all and assembled the machine again but it did not help, again i got sound that i did not like, gears being noisy and like there is friction...Now i dont know what to do and where is a problem. Anyone have any idea?

Anyone know about the pin outs on the m18 battery? you get a voltage between the two inner pins of 3.2v, however my impact sometimes stops working and then I check the inner pins and they are at 0v, i can reset the battery by plugging it into my drill to bring them back up to 3.2v then it works again, so the impact must detect a fault and tell the battery to disconnect the pins?

Im curious if hes going to install a new gear box or just the nylon . if it was mine from what i can see and from the countless tools ive rebuilt id go with the new nylon. The metal parts rarely fail. When they do its usually a break not worn. And a suggestion to anyone that has not done much of this work use a screwdriver or low speed setting if using a drill to remove case screws. The plastic strips out relatively easily when removing the screws on high speed. Does the same installing them.

Rear bearing on my M18 hammer drill blew up. Milwaukee refused to repair it because I had pulled it apart, bagged everything separate, and had the broken inner and outer magnet in a sack for replacement.
Almost like they forgot I have a right to repair.

Do you know if newer tools have plastic gears...specifically from box stores such as home depot, lowes, and other hardware stores...my friend is telling me distributors have better gears that last longer

Would you say that Milwaukee make good tools?
Wanted the opinion of a repair man who sees inside many different brands.
Which tool make would you buy?

I heard somewhere that an antenna or Wi-Fi allows your drill from Milwaukee, (at least the half inch impact driver), to be tracked anywhere in the world if you register it online. What if we wanted to remove that antenna or Wi-Fi so we had a more private tool?

    • @handyman7282

Hello, if you have same gear, but its made from metal then it will work. But in some cases plastic gears is made to be broken on overloads and if you put metal gear then you will have overload to next parts

I’ve had Milwaukee tools for ten years
      The drill is still working
The impact driver is still working
The cold cutter ( for cutting unistrut and stud ) broke two years ago , i dissembled it and found the rotor on the armature had snapped ( I was cutting cable tray at the time) ordered a new armature motor £38 and still working.
These tools are used and abused every day , sometimes dropped from height, used as hammers and yet they still work with the same batteries 18 volt 4 amp …. fantastic tools wouldn’t buy anything else highly recommend.sparky U.K. 🇬🇧👍
