I am doing my first engine refresh for my 68 Chevrolet C-20 with a 327 in it. I found this series by accident and watched them all. Thank you for doing these, great job in them especially for a newbie that wants to learn.
Thanks Dan, you can do it!
I really like your posts. The attention to detail is very important. So many "mechanics" just throw their work together. I can't remember all the times I have counseled people I have worked with, or taught to Pay Attention to the small stuff. I get a lot of satisfaction watching your work, and I enjoy the fact that you are always teaching something. Thanks, Pete, for all you do.
Thank you very much Bruce. I always try to make something educational about it, and the details are huge to me. I am a details guy.
Been waiting for this series to finish so I could watch the whole thing in one go! Thanks for a great series!
Thanks Randy
Randy, your likely the only one patent enough to wait it out.
Binge watched the whole series. Great job. One day I’ll rebuild a 350. Lol thanks for the great content.
Thanks Keith
As always, cracking job Pete
Thanks Kyne
Looks awesome Pete...Nice job.
Thanks my friend
I love this channel.
Thank you for watching my friend
Great job,always enjoy your videos
Thank you Chuck
Thank you so much! Rebuilding a engine is on my top 10 bucket list. Maybe a 283 one? ;-)
Do it Ted! Don't wait
Thanks for this series! I recently purchased a 73 Land Cruiser with an SBC 350, so was curious to see the build up and the Sniper EFI system!
Great to hear!
Can we get a video of the engine in the car it was built for? I'd love to hear it run in it's natural habitat.
It's almost done, as soon as it's on the road I'll make one.
Nice job, would love to try those nordlock washers on my cobra
They work great for headers
We missed the spark plugs? Hooking up the carb? Great series
The carb was a Holley Sniper installation in a separate video
Nice Job Pete! I really like those Nord-Locks. I noticed you did NOT use headers. Hot rodders get so used to putting headers on everything they forget some folks are not interested in melting everything under their hood to produce more peak horsepower. I got so tired of heat soaked starter issues and melted plug wires, I quit using headers years ago. I'm more interested in keeping things cool and reliable. I'm curious, however, do you have any idea how your torque and horsepower numbers would suffer with manifolds vs the headers used in the dyno test? I'm assuming things would be unchanged on the lower end of the curve? I would love to hear your thoughts. I am thinking of following in your footsteps with a Chevy pick-up I am restoring from the frame up. I like that the Edelbrock E-street pwr pkg combination is all spelled out, proven and tested. In addition, your video series here also proves it works in the real world. Is there anything about this build you would change, if you were putting this in an old but very nice 1976 K20 4x4 Chevy truck?
The numbers don't suffer as much as people think. If you tune it with the manifolds it will perform just fine
Is that manifold natural finish, or is that ceramic coated? Sorry for forgetting if you covered it before.
Coated mirror black
As always, great video Pete! I'm getting ready to install a 383 in my '76 Corvette. I like the look of the original Rams Horns and would prefer to avoid some of the hassles of dealing with headers. However, will I be choking my new engine if I use the original Rams Horns?
Thanks Jerry. You won't lose much
Pete, Awesome video series. I also have a '76. However, I'm installing a 383 stroker. Due to fitment issues, I'm considering using the original rams horn manifolds like you did here. Am I sacrificing a ton of power and performance by using the rams horns instead of buying headers?
Cool Jerry, that's a fun project. The restriction is more in the heads. The rams horns can flow pretty good. You're not sacrificing much if anything at all.
@@PetesGarage , Thanks for the info. I just shared your 350 build on the C3 Corvette Facebook page. Folks were talking about the Holly Sniper, so I posted your video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I'm glad I found your channel.
That is awesome! Thank you very much my friend
Do u happen to know the sz of nord lock washers. Want to look into some for my manifolds as well. Thank u
They come in all of the standard sizes
Did you use gaskets on the exhaust manifold or just permatex? I here both ways.
I always use a gasket because of heat and expansion
where can i get that thing that covers up the distributor and the plug wires long the back?
Those are made for Corvettes
Ok just one simple question if you’re using headers is it still 20 foot pounds???
Maybe 20 HP
Is there a specific reason you used grade 5 fasteners instead of grade 8?
Application. Using a higher grade fastener does not always mean better, but it does always mean more expensive.
Thanks for the reply Pete!
do they sell exhaust manifolds that are likes these for LS engines?
You'd have to look around
Want to know how to install old school bracket power steering
Me too
Just curious, do you know how to lay carbon fiber?
Yes sir I do
Pete's Garage it would be absolutely amazing if you made a video on how to do that. And the products that you use
Could you do a video on piston speed I miss your whiteboard and formulas
LOL.... I thought people were sick of those. I'll come up with something
Pete's Garage lol no way them videos are very helpful. And this subject will help people who plan to push the rpms in a stroked motor or destroked one and thanks I appreciate it! Love the videos
Hey guys young rookie here
Looking to put together a little top end kit for my 95 350 thats got about 130k on it
I was just wondering if there was any really good books that would help me in choosing cams and knowing what not to do lol
You won't need much, maybe 1 or 2 cams above stock. Don't get too crazy, the bottom end won't handle it.
@@PetesGarage yea i wasnt plannin on nothing to big
Alot of guys put lt4 hot cams in. i was thinking somthing around that size with som vortec heads
What did this 350 build cost?
The Viper system was the most expensive, but I'm going to say about $8,500
Dam 8500 does that include swapping it in the car and installation?
easy on the air cleaner pete lol
I know right...
