  • On Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 November, the Canal & River Trust is inviting members of the public to walk along the drained Newark Town Lock as we carry out vital repair work to this historic lock.
Sean McGinley, waterway manager for the East Midlands region, describes a little bit more about the work and what those lucky visitors will get the chance to see.
Visitors will get the chance to:
    - find out how we care for these 200-year-old structures
    - take a look around the neighbouring dry dock where boats are repaired (one of the largest of its kind in the UK)
    - meet the specialist waterway teams who replace and repair lock gates, bridges, aqueducts and canal walls
    - see the drained River Trent section up close
This is an ideal event for all the family. The event will be held between 10-3:30pm. For further information please visit canalrivertrust.org.uk/restoration-and-repair.
