    I just purchased a 1988 YJ a week ago. Getting it looked at by mechanic near me and I'm pretty sure it'll pass a safety check. It will not pass inspection and hopefully the cost will be fairly low. I'm so excited!! I have a 2022 Gladiator on lease and decided not to beat it up. The Wrangler will be perfect. Great video! I just happened upon your channel BTW.

      Gladiators are great too, but its a blast from thr past with the YJ. I love driving the older rigs!

    I had revilvers on the rear and had horrible axle wrap. On the front i love them.

    Definitely the 5.13s stoked you have the 44 up front my 89 still rocks the 30. I kept the CAD and ran a cable and lincoln locked it. So i can still drive it on the street. Why dont you soa? You will get the clearance you are looking for. I did soa and running stock leafs to bring it down and have the flex. So far so good with mine. Cant wait to see it wheel

      The 5.13s have been perfect on the road. Getting 18mpg on 38s! Trying to keep the Jeep skinny and low for tight trails. Soa usually nets at least 5.5", plus I have a 1" BL. Might do it eventually when I 1 ton but for now SUA is super simple

      @@FortuneOffRoad iwas going to 1 ton but i would want to ls it then and man then more power more breaking. Lol. I am at the sweet spot right now with the 2.5 running 35s the only thing i break is the intermediate shaft in the d30 but 35 bucks and back to wheeling. I have the black yj on the dirtnation videos.
      Right on i look forward to the build and the videos of it wheeling!

    Nice i will have to swap out the ba-10/5 transmission in my 87 for an ax15 if I do this i don’t think that transmission can handle larger tires.

      Yeah, they don't seem to like the extra duty. My AX15 needs a rebuild but is hanging in there.

    The taper on Waggy44 tierod ends is the same as the Chevy 1-ton tie rod ends.

    • @FortuneOffRoad
      @FortuneOffRoad  Рік тому

      When I got this Jeep the previous owner had reamed out the knuckles to take the 1 ton chevy ends. I wonder if the taper is the same the shank is a different length?

      @WPowell420 Рік тому

      @@FortuneOffRoad I put 1-ton Chevy ends directly into Wagoneer knuckles and they’ve been going for 8 years without a bit of play.

      @FortuneOffRoad  Рік тому

      @@WPowell420 wish I could do that with mine. They were reamed too deeply and now need to be drilled out

    3.0L vs 4.0L jeep wins hands down. 4R would be cool with 22re or 3.4L.

    I swaped to waggy axles. Cut the spring perches and move them to straighten the springs. How is your turning with the 38's? Do they hit the springs? Motobuilt has some cool high inner fenders for the rear.

    • @FortuneOffRoad
      @FortuneOffRoad  Рік тому +1

      I had to limit the steering a few degrees but it still turns sharp. I am going to cut off the spring mounts and outboard them a little bit to straighten the springs.

    Do you think I could run 38x12.50 15r on Dana 30 front with chromoly axle and 8.8 rear with 4.56 gearing?

    • @FortuneOffRoad
      @FortuneOffRoad  5 місяців тому

      If you don't do any offroading, you would probably be OK. I know a guy that has 40s on his. But regardless of what anyone says a 38 is a big tire. I'm concerned about my 44s at times and they are built up.
