It's a great day to remember that we may need to work together as Team America here in the near future and we should be able to share tools.
I know it sounds unimportant or unnecessary but we really may need to help maintain the survival of our great country one day. And by sharing the basic tools required to maintain the security of a free state, we can become a stronger team and community. We don't have to like it. We don't have to think it's the best. But if that time comes, that cohesion could be invaluable.

People always taught me to that that "buy once, cry once" mindset. Not looking for or have the funds to have 5+ different AR variants. Looking 2 buy one AR 2-3 to have as a backup/ parts. The main reason I bought a Glock 45 is exactly what you’re talking about. Parts availability for a Glock is huge thanks to the aftermarket dealers and the oem parts aren’t even that expensive. Keep triggers, extractors etc on hand just in case.
AR15, 9mm (non Glock) and 1911 .45ACP, .308 and .22LR
I don’t, I can’t so I’m probably not gonna be in your club..I will however take over watch and absolutely do not need a grocery store or grid to make ice cream(example). I agree with everything u said and wish I could but I was told to plan for stuff a little bit differently…secure high ground, rural and if anybody says “u gonna get kilt an all ur stuff taken”. Maybe…but I’m pretty sure them ARs can’t reach me in time. I’m a Steve Earl l, copperhead road kinda country boy.

I absolutely hate glocks, but I still own one because im not stupid... While MAGs are not professional soldiers, having compatibility with those around you accessible is an absolute must, and can be a life saver in a pinch.

And I would say, that your third firearm should be a Ruger 10/22, for the same reasons....with the thought that it's primary purpose will be for scavenging small game. Not as a self defense firearm.

Dudes got a point. Never really thought about having the same firearms to exchange if needed. I already have these items in case of war.
I’m more into old west style firearms.. Lever actions, wheel guns and bolt action. When I got serious about prepping I “Thinned the herd” to help me invest in the tools that keep libtards up at night and help me get to my goals more quickly.. I did keep one lever gun and one black powder wheel gun. I also kept my favorite deer catching rig.. Now my bolt guns are more suitable for getting out there a bit further consistently…
Learning AR’s was fun. They are kinda like adult Lego. Find a sauce that works for you and catch sales and watch your Lego collection grow.. lol

This is my exact thought process. Those are the most popular weapon platforms in America, like it or not. I happen to like that and base my purchases around those the best I can. But obviously we all have a few weapons and calibers that were more of a “I don’t care, I really just want that” type of purchase lol.
We all have our desirable collection pieces. But I don't feel complete without the baseline standards.

22lr.. pistol and either a semi auto or bolt rifle, could be a lever action also. Great for training for less money, plus will need to eat in SHTF.. I’m also of the opinion can be a defensive weapon in SHTF, especially with no hospitals.. I personally have a dedicated 22lr upper for my AR for training..
12 gauge.. Great close up self defense. Also need to eat in SHTF..
308/7.62x51.. Older than dirt, but still a good round that can shoot further than many are capable of shooting. Time tested and will get you out to about 1,200 yards if you know what you are doing.. NATO round, so it’s pretty much a staple.. Less expensive than long action calibers.
223/556.. Self explanatory. It’s literally everywhere.

Personally I think those are what people should set their goals for. All extremely popular calibers. And personally I believe a 22lr rifle is just as if not more important than a AR-15 for prepping.
I currently have 2 outliers from the above mentioned. 30-30 lever action and a .17wsm bolt gun. Have a lot of time behind a 30-30. And some people dog on the .17wsm. My .17wsm is stupid accurate, and I’ve seen what a .17wsm will do to a ferrel hog with a head shot at 150 yards. A ferrel hogs skull is A LOT more robust than a 2 legged critter skull. Fantastic little round in my opinion, but hard to find, especially cheap. I just happen to know where about 3,000 rounds is. Lol
For nostalgia, and hunting, I might also bring along a lever action 30-30. If I have the room. Being prepared also means being efficient with time and space ( square footage. ) that might mean that some otherwise great recreational firearms might be left behind. Or better yet, I sell them to convert it to a bigger NATO ammo stash.

I get the ask. Replace "Glock" with "Sig" and I have those basics. All peppers need a 5.56 AR and a 9 MM semi pistol (hollow point ammo)
Only Glock I have is a 43x. I probably should pick up a 19 tho as you do raise a good point about sharing parts and magazines. I’m reaching for my staccato first every time, but those parts and mags would be hard to come by if needed.
@dan_mccaulley exactly. I love other guns more but my local hardware store sells Glock mags. And 1911 mags. But that's it.

That mistake is fixable. If your budget strapped, a PSA dagger is GLOCK gen 3 compatible. And you can save money using KCI mags ( about $10 ea.)

Yes 100% it is not just every Americans right but DUTY to have and be proficient with a 16" AR15 platform rifle and a 9mm sidearm along with a plate carrier/chest rig (that can hold 7+ mags) and battle belt and at minimum 20 magazines loaded with M855 62g green tip 5.56NATO ammunition
A military load out is 7 mags ( 30 rnd) for 5.56 Carbine/rifle. 20 might be a little cumbersome.
