    Ha, awesome. I'm headed out for my first night flight in an hour, and I'm glad I found this. Congrats - well done. Too funny about the landing light at KSNA. Well done!

      Ah, thanks for asking. Just great. Flight up the coast was nice. You are absolutely right about finding the airport amidst all the street and freeway lights. So glad I found your vid...

      Your FIRST landing was at night? That's unusual. Happy flying!

    What do you mean unmonitored?

    • @jandras1
      @jandras1  5 років тому +1

      Hi Sagar, I assume you're asking about the tower controller's end-of-night announcement that starts at 6:05, where she says, "the ILS runway 26R is operating unmonitored."
      If you look on the official chart supplement (link below), you'll see that the tower at Chino airport (KCNO) is operated only part-time. It's near the middle, next to "TOWER", you can see that the tower only operates from 1500z to 0500z. Converting to CA time, that's from 7am local to 10pm local. And, if you look down near the bottom, it says "Unmonitored when ATCT closed," where ATCT evidently means Air Traffic Control Tower.
      Basically, the controller was telling everybody listening that she's going home and will no longer be monitoring (i.e. watching and controlling) the runways, including the one with an instrument landing system (ILS). In other words, she's telling you that you are on your own.

      @@jandras1 Thank you for clarifying. I am considering to take flying lesson although I have a question, I smoke marijuana so how long should I wait till I start my pilot training. I could take Pilot training after a year or 6 months but just want to know how long should I wait to be clear- 3,6 months or a year. So that I clear medical and start to learn.

      @@sagargholap6266 Hi Sagar. I'm really not sure about marijuana, but I think it can be a big deal if you want a standard medical certificate. When I filled it out, the FAA application for medical certificate asks you if you have "substance dependence or failed a drug test *ever*; or substance abuse or use of illegal substance *in the last 2 years.*" (18.n.), and also asks if you have a history of arrests or convictions relating to alcohol or a drug, or where ever directed to a rehabilitation program. (18.v.)

    Where did you buy that head lamp? I hate the hand lamp I keep dropping in my aircraft.

    • @jandras1
      @jandras1  9 років тому

      +anathemapth Hi - It's an Energizer Headlamp, model HDL33A2. I ran across it at a hardware store, Ganahl Lumber I think. It was around $12 or so. You can find a similar one on Amazon.
      It has one button. Click 1 has two LEDs that shine through lenses, click 2 is has two LEDs that shine through windows, click 3 has both, and click 4 is two red LEDs, and click 5 is off again.
      It's pretty inexpensive, and you can vary the light spread and brightness a bit. However, you can only get to the red light by cycling past the bright white lights, so try not to blind your instructor.

    Nicely done! I got flight instruction from sunrise for alittle before heading off to college awesome to inside a sportstar once again, how do you have your battery last so long?

    • @jandras1
      @jandras1  11 років тому

      I shot this with a newer Hero 3 that was set to the same resolution as a Hero 2 and, most importantly, connected to the optional "Battery PacPac". With the BackPac, I seem to get about 2 hours.
      Good luck in college. Enjoy it!

      Its hard to land if u use cessna 172 but this plane is so smooth to land 💓

    • @jandras1
      @jandras1  4 роки тому

      Alexander Dela cruz Ha. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. I thought the SportsStar was squirrelly, and thought I learned to fly a bit better because of it. I have been flying a Cessna 172 for the past couple of years and they seem very forgiving to ham fisted control and much easier to land.
