Het oudste pijpwerk in het orgel (vooral de fluiten 4′ en 2′ van het Bovenwerk) is waarschijnlijk afkomstig van Jan Morlet (1629).
1676 voltooide Jan Slegel een nieuw orgel, waarbij hij materialen [van Jan Morlet (1629)] uit het oude orgel gebruikte.
1694-1712 Johan Duyschot onderhoud.
ALBERTUS ANTHONI HINSZ
Albertus Anthoni Hinsz verrichtte in de jaren 1741-1743 werkzaamheden aan het orgel.
Hinsz vervaardigde een nieuwe kas, vernieuwde alle windkanalen, de laden en het mechaniek.
Er kwamen registers bij en dit orgel werd zo het grootste Hinsz-orgel.
1788/1789 vrij pedaal (8 registers) gemaakt door H.H. Freytag en F.C. Schnitger Jr.
Er kwam een Borstwerk van 4 stemmen, dat bespeelbaar werd vanaf het Bovenwerk-klavier.
De Dulciaan 8′ van het Rugwerk plaatsten Freytag en F.C. Schnitger Jr. in het Borstwerk.
Op de vrijgekomen plaats in het Rugwerk kwam een Fagot 16′.
Gedurende de 19e eeuw werkten Van Gruisen, Scheuer en Naber aan het orgeld.
1866 Zwier van Dijk gaf het Borstwerk een eigen klavier en voegde hij registers toe.
1967-75 restauratie door orgelmakerij Bakker & Timmenga, Leeuwarden.
Men koos ervoor om acht registers van omstreeks 1820/1866 te handhaven.
In 2000 is het instrument “gerevitaliseerd” door de Orgelmakers Gebr. Reil.
Het pijpwerk is op aanspraak en egaliteit gecontroleerd.
De zeven keilbalgen zijn aangesloten op de windmachine.
Mechanieken opnieuw afgesteld en er zijn noodzakelijke reparaties verricht.

ABOUT THE HINSZ ORGAN at KAMPEN
The oldest pipework in the organ (especially the flutes 4′ and 2′ of the Bovenwerk) probably comes from Jan Morlet (1629).
In 1676 Jan Slegel completed a new organ, using materials [by Jan Morlet (1629)] from the old organ.
1694-1712 Johan Duyschot maintenance.
Albertus Anthoni Hinsz carried out work on the organ in the years 1741-1743:
Hinsz manufactured a new organ case and renewed all wind channels, drawers, and mechanics.
Registers were added and this organ became the largest Hinsz organ.
1788/1789 free pedal (8 stops) made by H.H. Freytag and F.C. Schnitger Jr.
There was a Borstwerk of 4 voices, which could be played from the Bovenwerk keyboard.
The Dulcian 8′ of the Rugwerk placed Freytag and F.C. Schnitger Jr. in the Borstwerk.
A Fagot 16′ was placed on the vacant place in the Rugwerk.
During the 19th century, Van Gruisen, Scheuer and Naber worked on the organ.
1866 Zwier van Dijk gave the Borstwerk its own keyboard and added registers.
1967-75 restoration by the Bakker & Timmenga organ factory, Leeuwarden.
It was decided to maintain eight registers from about 1820/to 66.
In 2000 the instrument was “revitalised” by the Orgelmakers Gebr. Reil.

Je swingt de kerk uit !
Goede registratie en goed rekening houdend met de akoestiek van de Bovenkerk.
Ook is het geen officieel stuk voor orgel maar blijft toch een van mijn favorieten.
Nogmaals mijn 🙏 dank voor deze interpretatie ! Dit maakt mijn zondag goed .
Blijft in mijn hoofd hangen.
Ook opgemerkt op het kanaal op UA-cam geen dag zonder Bach.

Nogmaals in dit geweldige opus van Bach dat op viool de cantate en in piano-versie is bewerkt (Bach hergebruikte veel van zijn mooie werken terecht) heeft Willem zich weer getoond als een oprecht musicus en vakman op zijn instrument.

Yes you are right, but I love playing organ and not all famous composers have composed for organ. So.... I advocate transcriptions in a moderate way. I mean do not make a program with only transcriptions then you are on the wrong side of the organ literature because the organ literature is rich, very rich.

When I hear this I could almost, slightly believe.
Beautifully played-a fine recording.
It's been 9 years since my first comment. I cannot stop listening to BWV 29. In this performance the tempo is so perfectly matched with the acoustics of the church....it just gives the listener a silent song from the heart. I also like James Howard Young's interpretation using nothing but recorders, and of course the Netherlands Bach Society doing the entire cantata....I have to believe that JSB was not only the greatest composer of all time, but even the greatest who will ever live, short of God himself. Thank you again, Willem.

I am a 'bear of very slow brain' (to misquote A.A.Milne) and my head needs time to process all that is happening in this piece. While I also appreciate other versions (eg. D.Bish) I am grateful for the opportunity to absorb all the notes. I do not think I have ever heard this beautiful piece played quite so slowly.

I'm positive 90% or more of the Bach we hear these days is played too fast. Back then times were slower. Much, much slower. His music also speaks for itself - like you said.

Wilhelm, Bach truly set the standard of musical composition and still had influence in music of this day and age.
The best composer of all time. When I write hymns, I do draw inspiration from Bach, occasionally using some of his short pieces of chorale compositions.
Not just big works, mainly improvised from themes but the small short chorales is just as great.
I wonder if he composed hymn tunes?

Superb registration of stops combined with a nice tempo and good articulation, a perfect match for the acoustics of the building. You made this music come alive with your performance bringing out so much of its subtleties, especially in the pedal notes, that are all too often lost and muddled by playing too fast and by poor choice of stops. I am learning to play a transcription of this myself on the organ at the moment, you really inspired me. I really enjoyed your playing.

Very grand! The tempo gives you space to do some very subtle and inspired interpretation! I have a question: why do you sit so far back? Given that you do not have overly long arms, I would think that having the seat closer to the keyboards would be helpful. But I notice that the pedals do not go very far under the keyboard, so I assume that may be the reason? Thanks so much for sharing this glorious music!
The lowest manual is almost in my stummick, and then I can't see the pedal keys.

Hello again! Watching your video also helped me with a question I've always had about this and similar instruments: specifically the very large grid of stops that would be quite unmanageable for the organist. But, watching your registrant, I realized that the stop knobs were specifically designed to be easily accessible for one or two registrants. Thus, this style of console had, in effect, the first "fully programmable preset system--a human being!" Again, bravo!

Leizig? why leipzig? The is hardly something left of Bach in Leipzig . Even his grave is fake in fact. The historic organs are gone and the inside of the Thomas Church is totally altered.
@Andrew Ernyes True, but in the western part of Romania beautiful churches of the Hungarian reformed church still are in good shape. For instance the reformed church in Koloszvar/ Klausenburg / Cluj has got a wonderful organ and amazing acoustic ( 2 seconds after clapping your hands)

The Baroque era was a slower time. No fast Internet speed, no jets, no fast cars, and candles burned very slow. So many people don't get that and completely massacre baroque. This was nice.

That's "HISTORIC organ. Not hystorical. Boy, this organ has guts to it. The church is nicely resonant as well. You notice that the keyboards are stepped way back. He has difficulty in reaching the 4th manual. But what a nice job. Beautiful churches as well What a jor to listen to the pedal redd that doesn't sound like an outboard motor.. Take a look at the organ case. They don't build them like that any more. Cheak rows of pipes in wood crates.

Mooie interpretatie. En het tempo staat mee ook wel aan. Ben momenteel zelf bezig met dit stuk, maar kom tot de ontdekking dat ik als uitgangstempo Guillou in mn hoofd had. Maar eens rap aan gaan passen naar dit aangename tempo ;-)
