I upgraded mine on day 1 when I got my radio, and found out that apachelabs had forgotten to add a jumper for the specific flash chip in mine preventing the update from working. A bit of a head scratcher back then. Have a good Christmas. Cheers.

i use a 7000dle mk2. Look into the Hermes Lite 2 if you want to keep costs right down. Other than that the current apachelabs radios start at $3.5k and go up now... eeek. Not too many used examples come up either, but keep an eye out on the apache labs community forums for sale section. They do from time to time. Cheers.
