my take was that the oilers didn't give that win away, the canucks took it away from them. they had every reason to say ok it's 4-1, we'll get them next game. i don't know what game frank was watching but the canucks were ahead in every offensive and defensive category (PP and PK aside) in the game from start to finish. just some weak goals on silovs spotted them a lead they couldn't hang on to.
I'm not much of a Toronto fan, but I really liked Keefe and Dubas. However, hockey being the business that it is, changes are made. The Leafs have a myriad of problems that need to be addressed: a bottom 6 forward group seemingly lacking in chemistry and identity, an obviously subpar blue line, current goaltending that is both inconsistent and injury-prone, a literal non-existent power play in the playoffs, etc. Firing Keefe and trading players like Marner are not the cure-all the more fanatical Leaf fans are expecting.
Why do original 6 and especially Canadian/TO markets have zero respect for southern teams. Wasn’t the whole Gretzky issue about growing the sport in the American south ? Matthews is from freaking AZ! Leafs need to be humble, stop thinking you’re above everyone else no cup since 67 and we , yes the Panthers that you guys chanted last year so much will have a cup before Leafs do, probably this year..I think we win the cup in 6 over the Oilers 😊
Couldn't agree more. Look at your arena, or ours here in Raleigh, or Dallas, or Vegas, or Tampa, they were all rocking not only every playoff game, but every regular season game too. It's so frustrating the disrespect given to non traditional hockey marketz

My tickets 9 rows behind our goal diagonally…4.5 k per season…does that even get you one Leafs lower bowl playoff set of ticket 🧐 bit still, though we have these amazing perks throughout tue south the north shows us indifference and insults, Leafs are a joke

Man I got 3 boys in private school, taking multiple instrument lessons, and all playing travel hockey, I'm about to have to start flying a sign down at my local intersection to eat!!!😂😂😂 I get your point tho. It's the same here, 5k or so for lower level. I still think even here it's a major issue. My 8yr old for the 2nd year got to do the mite thing where they play during the intermission. So we bought the cheapest tickets, 55$. After fees and taxes, they were around $80 each. Then we had to come seperate because we run our own business and my wife had to finish a job, so we had to drive seperate, and both pay to park, $40 per car. So we were at $500 before walking inside, before buying a coke, much less buying $15 slices of pizza or fries. We bought a drink each and ice cream, and my little one a puck, we spent around $650, for one game, in the nose bleeds, there Is a problem with that. I was png'd out of a hockey group because I said $ was a bigger deterent to hockey than racism or LGBTQ issues. I love the sport, but 8, 9, 10, grand a year to play, pluss travel, it's ridiculous, South, North, Canada, all around its a major major problem. But again, you're right, 5k for Toronto might be one night in some seats, but there is a major major problem.
Toronto is way overhyped, and it's importance in the hockey world is way over exaggerated. Yes, Toronto is a storied, original 6 franchise, and, yes, Toronto has the hockey hall of game, and, yes, Toronto has won 13 Stanley cups. But wait. Since 1967, I would like for fanatical Leaf fans to add up all the number of cup final appearances the following southern U.S. teams have made: Florida, Tampa Bay, Nashville , Dallas, Vegas, Anaheim, and Los Angeles. I don't know the exact number, but I'm guessing it's greater than ZERO.
Oops, I forgot to include Carolina in the list of successful, southern U.S. teams. The Hurricanes won the cup in 2006. How did Toronto do that year? They missed the playoffs, the 1st of 7 straight years of missing.
