I bought a gold bar from Costco. I did a review of the experience on my channel. It was a hassle to even find it in stock, and it was just mailed in a large UPS bubble mailer. It was cheap though.
Is this an entry loss strategy or is it profitable for them to sale at these prices? If they are able to maintain these prices will we start to have issues finding places to liquidate?
Great…competition is good for consumers. Don’t want the little guys to go out of business, but inevitable if they can’t find a way to adapt and compete.
I think I voted “no” but it will be hard to not buy here when I can actually find such items in stock. We will see though about the sales tax issue. And I think it’s worth noting that these appear to be lifetime limits. So once a stacker has maxed out… they still have the LCS to go back to. But I agree that this is a threat to the LCS’s and we don’t want them to go away.
I question how many fakes could be going out that people do not verify. A sucker and his money are soon parted and lots of uneducated people are getting into stacking just because of Costco
Costco won’t be a big player until they remove all purchase restriction. If LCS go bye bye….good riddance. Change and compete, or lose out to innovation. We vote with our dollars, remember that.

This is what happens when Bullion dealers jack up premiums and keep them jacked up. Competition is good.

West coast. The problem with Costco bullion is they sell out within hours.

......Gold bars at Costco here in Canada are Sold Out.
I’m afraid Costco can crash many smaller dealers that doesn’t sell great varieties of semi numismatic/numismatic gold and silver.
They should stop charging $200 extra for a credit card purchase then. The CC fee on a $2000 purchase is like $30-$40.
Costco may just shake up the market. Then again, any buy-back policy? I doubt.
