You raised a valid concern - Thank you for that.
In looking at my own situation, - I am getting older, and as such, weaker. I have to pick and choose what I am going to select. (Whatever we decide on, we have to be prepared to carry it all on foot, in case the roads are jammed, or the car fails, etc...)
We also have to be prepared to carry whatever gear the spouse has, in case she tires or gets hurt, etc... (Plus if folks have small kids, they need to plan on carrying the kids gear along with the kids themselves, because they will get tired very fast - gonna need a wagon at that point)
In my older age situation, this is going to be limited to about 20 pounds for myself and 15 pounds for the wife - in case I have to carry both for a long time/distance. (40# is going to be my limit - a LOT less than my Army ruck 20 years ago! - Like the great Clint Eastwood said - "A man has to know his limitations!")
I have a go bag always ready that fits my self-imposed weight limits, and it is packed with the bare essentials to survive with a little bit of comfort for a short period. (but only 2 days of food and water, 4 days if we are not moving and burning the calories up) - Along with that, I would have my daily carry core basics (primary and backup handguns, with 2 spare mags for each, a good fixed blade knife, and a good folder, plus a multitool)
If the bugout is due to something really bad, then I would add in my rifle and 6 spare mags, plus a chest rig to keep everything accessible. If it was just due to a localized event like a wildfire, then these items would be left behind.
This is the point I had to put some thought in to after seeing your video......
With either bug out scenario, I think I would grab about 3oz of gold and perhaps 1 tube of silver eagles and a couple rolls of silver quarters. I would also grab about a thousand dollars from the emergency cash stack.
I would leave the rest of the metals behind, because they will survive a fire, a flood, etc...They are also stashed well enough a looter would not find it without a lot of work. (About the only fear I have for metals is a tornado, which of course, would scatter the stack to the masses)
I do not have the metals loaded in the go bag, but after seeing your video and thinking it over, I will likely put the tube of ASE's and the silver quarters in it. - (It already has $200 cash in it, and I would grab the rest of the cash along with the gold as I was heading out the door.)
I know we always envision loading the car and driving out of the danger area, but the reality is, we have a potential of having to walk out. I tried to set us up for this scenario, so if we do get to drive out, we will have smiles on our faces! (We would load the car down with food, water, clothes, and ammo. - If we are at a point where we are needing metals to barter, I think ammo could have as much value (or more) to someone as silver would have. - Both would be nice to have, I'm sure.)
    Thanks for the video.

Twice in a 8 year span our family had to evacuate our city because of flooding. Un-prepared, low on gas, no food prepped. It happnes. Took two times for that to sink in. Now my car is never under 1/4 tank, enough to go quite a distance, Water easily to take, Food. And after all this time I started stacking, and 3 boxes ready to go.

    Libertad Album, Kookaburra Album,
    ASE tubes, $100FV Constitutional,
    & Gold.
    I only have 6x 1/10oz gold.
    Plenty of ammo.
I don't think I'll be bugging out anytime soon.

I am not anti-crypto. (I have some, but I am not heavy in it.)
      - My fear with crypto is a grid down situation - whatever a person has in crypto is tied up until the power comes back on and you get to a computer. (You could trade it on your phone I guess, if they are working)
The reality is though, the size of the population that trades in and would accept crypto is even smaller than the metals stacking community. For this reason, I limit my exposure to just a 1-2% of my net worth in crypto. (It is a young man's game - folks that have time to replenish the cash that may be lost in it....being retired, I have to be pretty cautious on where I put money at, since it is much harder to replace it on a fixed income. - If I was younger, I would probably have more like 30% in it)
      Cheers!
