  • I am making 30" x 30" zinc hammered table tops. I had some questions from my audience about the corner detail, so I hope this helps. Thanks and please support my channel on Patreon if you want to see more instructional content like this.

    I just finished a 20 x 60" tabletop with patinated copper sheet, the first time I have done a metal table top. I was very concerned about screwing up the corners, but your video showed me how. I practiced your technique on a few small rectangular pieces first. The big project turned out great. Your video gave me the confidence to go ahead and do it. Thank you.

    Haters gonna hate. Ever notice that the truely negative comments are always from people who work the job that you are teaching us all how to save money on. Yes, I am sure they can produce professional grade product....for professional prices. Thank you for helping us learn to cut costs.

    Got an old door to make an outdoor table, industrial chic, built a frame to support the edges as you have done, was ready to apply the sheet gal metal and thought I wonder how I should do the corners, better maybe I see how others have done it on YT. I came to the right place. Many thanks.

    Just found your channel and thoroughly enjoy watching a craftsman at work. It is a pleasure to view a video and learn new ways of creating quality furniture without having to buy the latest and greatest tool that some U tube posters do (of course I understand that is the way they make their living) and some folk s hobby is collecting these tools. If I lived near you I would work in your shop without pay just to learn about the skills you posse , but I guess living in Georgia is a deal breaker

    Awesome craftsman ship. I came across your video looking for some ideas on a table I want to wrap to use as the base for my smoker. Great video. and the comments from William Dorn down there are insane. I cannot believe someone would write up such a long list of hateful criticism. It's not even productive by any means.
    Thank you for your work, and for sharing your skill. I'm hoping to have my table done before Thanksgiving (this Wednesday). =)

    THREE QUESTIONS::
    1) What type of glue did you use? Please provide glue product name?
    2) What type of hammer did you use?
    3) How did you remove hammer dents from sides you hammered to bend?

    Beautiful project! I saw a table like this once, what a beauty. I was looking for a way to edge band a countertop and might do it manually like this. It would look so nice.
    fyi - intro was too long.

    As beautiful as they are, metal countertops are just not worth it at >$375 per square foot. It's no wonder so many opt for the ugly granite and quartz at half the price.

  • @sierraecho884

    This is really not a great way to do a zinc countertop.
    1. Use a wooden or plastic hammer with a piece of wood to not dent up all the sides when folding. Place the thin wood strip directly on the metal you want to bent and hammer it into place.
    2. Never leave sharp corners, IDK what you are doing, it looks more of an artistic endeavour than creating a zinc counter top. You don´t need this complicated cuts with tiny triangular tabs, this is excess material, cut it off.
    3. Finish the corners by soldering them, you will have seamless corners which look like the counter top was made out of one piece. Otherwise the corner joint looks open and unprofessional.

      with the folds employed no wood will show, its the way the light is hitting the corner that makes it look that way, also the satin finish of shiny zinc shows the dings, and with the final patina the dings will be unnoticeable, overall it's a fantastic finished piece, been there, done this method, no complaints here, customers love this
