I love UA-cam as a learning tool. Needed to make a copper top this morning and having never done one came here looking for help. The corner treatment used here was perfect for my job. Paused the video a few times at key moments and the top came together beautifully. So helpful. Thanks to this 5 year old snippet of wisdom.
Nice work mate. I used your video to learn how to make copper tops. Now I make them alot. I glue my copper down before folding and I use a curved wood mallet to give it an all over hand beaten look. And I solder the corner folds. I quite often refer back to this video if I haven't made one for a while just to check my corner cuts. Thanks
Such a beautiful job. Alot of good hard work went into making that. Personally I cant stand that you decided to use cheap particle board plywood glued to a thin piece of cabinet grade wood. Why not just use one solid piece of good cabinet grade wood? Like 5/8" birch or maple. How much money is that really saving you? It's just such a good job, it deserves the higher quality wood in my opinion.
Great video. Why is it easier to watch a 13 minute video in fast motion than a 13 minute video normal speed? Are the copper head nails mainly decorative? I assume the nailer isn't shooting copper tacks, are you worried about the metals reacting? Very nice work, thanks.
Hello I love waht you do with zinc AT the end of the vidéo de CAN see stars is there a vidéo about this ? Do you ave mabee some plans ? Its look great Thanks for answer I dont speak werry well english I am #French ***
So wait, why do the chem treatment? Couldn't you just buy metal that's already old and dingey? I think I'm definitely missing something... it just seems like a lot of copper and it looked pretty dull.. again I have no idea I don't do this for a living I'm just wondering if it's a way to seal it or something I'm unaware of, idk someone explain this please... Do you epoxy it after from keeping rust from getting everywhere??. I'm perplexed
I guess I'm on the other side. I prefer it to be a shiny top. either way, I love the construction and I definitely need to order some "juice" for a zinc top.
Cool video Mitch. And if I ever do a copper piece, I will definitely buy your juice! One question though, I noticed you dabbing the warm water rinse on. Does putting the water on and wiping do anything to the chemical patina like streak it? It's hard to tell from the video.
Hey Mitch, I bought some of your "Juice" last year in the concentrated liquid. I used a small mixed amount on a Zinc top and it turned out great, client loved it. Question is if I decide to mix the concentrate into a larger container with water, how long of a shelf life would say it will have? Thank you...
If you don't clinch the copper tacks, why use them? When I do work as you are doing I use brass/bronze ring shank nails that hole 1000 times better than unclinched tacks.
I've always wondered about the copper that you use. What gauge? Where do you get it. I had some copper that was too thick and almost "springy" feeling. Maybe it was a mix of copper and another metal? Would love to hear more details. Thanks for the video!
+SeriusB There are two types of rolled copper: Hot Rolled (annealed) is what is called soft copper and that is what you want to work with for hand forming. Cold Rolled (work-hardened) copper is stiff and springy. Both are relatively pure copper. The stuff I get is 16 oz. or 16 gauge. some hardware stores carry it. roofers use it.
Any idea on how that juice would hot aluminum? Secondly, what was that wax/paste you hit it with at the end? Lastly, who are the artists in those gypsy jazz tunes?
Hi Mitch, excellent Video. Couple of questions: What was that you sprayed from the can? Second: what do you mean when you say: " ...this piece is going to a special place... a place of new beginnings"?
+Marisa Aguilera flat lacquer spray... and a new marketing plan which may or may not work so I guess what I wrote is a bit of a stretch. just wait and see

How do your corners look? I've been wanting to do something like this, but wanted to make the corners look smooth, is that possible?
Such a beautiful job. Alot of good hard work went into making that. Personally I cant stand that you decided to use cheap particle board plywood glued to a thin piece of cabinet grade wood. Awesome work.Excellent job on your corners.
amazing work i have a dozen of iron tables no top now i know what to do the liquid you still sale it
Nice. No rambling talk by the artist. Just creative work.
Why not hammer it all out so the rosebuds from sinking the nails aren't such eyesores?

The noises of you walking and hammering wereso satisfying

Nicely done. Question, what are you using to glue the copper to the wood?
Thank you for showing us what can be done with copper roll!
looks great! I wish copper was cheaper just to play with - as this looks so cool.
How would this stand up to rain and Sun?
Nice music
I like how you did the corners. very clean .good job
I think it is safe to say, that the copper sheet is not going anywhere :P
great work. What gauge is that roll of copper?
I'm mesmerized!
Nice video! Just have a sub. One question, what's the mm size of the sheet? Probably going to purchase your product and do my own :) great video!

Is that lacquer to protect it? Could you spray lacquer on the raw, shiny surface to protect from oxidation?
yes you could... better to just buff the copper to clean it as you go or use lemon juice to take the oxidation off. lacquer will chip off
i can't even wrap a package that nice.

Any info on how to properly cut the corners on a 45 degree angle. I think I have the 90 degree cut down but not sure on the 45?
What size copper thickness is that? Thanks.
You used a spalted maple wood piece to cover up with metal? Oh no! That wood was so beautiful.
Nice effect though. Lovely table top.
What thickness of copper sheeting do you use?
It’s called 16 oz. Soft copper. I don’t know the gauge
Are you putting copper tacks down? Didn't really understand. So you glued it then tacked it or nailed it.
What is the thickness of the copper sheet?
16 oz. soft copper

eBay juice link doesnt work
Where do you get giant rolls of copper like such????
Hey Mitch, I bought some of your "Juice" last year in the concentrated liquid. I used a small mixed amount on a Zinc top and it turned out great, client loved it. Question is if I decide to mix the concentrate into a larger container with water, how long of a shelf life would say it will have? Thank you...
+woodmasterguy
I have not tested shelf life beyond 2 years but would assume that as long as the container is sealed it should last for a long time
+hffcom Excellent, thanxs much love the product...
Or ? Just let it oxidize naturally over time..
Il prodotto che hai usato per invecchiarlo e una tua ricetta ? o e un prodotto commerciale?.......... bellissimo risultato
Air nailer has copper staples or are you not concerned about that thing that happens when steel and copper remain in contact. Love the content.
+Miles Morrissey
the staples are galvanized
where are you located ?

*Love it!* Are you using copper brad nails? Also, are those copper tacks or nails?

Thanks for the info. Hope all is well...take care!
What mil coper are you using? Thx
what was the names of the spray and the paste that you added at the end?
Any idea on how that juice would hot aluminum? Secondly, what was that wax/paste you hit it with at the end? Lastly, who are the artists in those gypsy jazz tunes?
Would love to see how you made those stars!
How do you work that fast ?
Amazing work Mitch, have my juice mixed but haven't used it yet. Thanks for sharing. This is going on my face book wall for sure.
copper is better shiny, right?
Food safe?
yes? copper is antimicrobial (without wax finish)

Are you using Ferric Nitrate?
you had to use a hand truck for a 8 lb roll of metal??
Congratulations! It looks like a real P.O.S.
Where did you get that copper roll ?
Nice
Very cool! Is that 10Mil copper or 16Mil?
Oops I see it now that it is 16 ;)
What did you put on at the end?...paste wax?? why?
to keep it from oxidizing further than he wanted
Music?
I thought mullets are unique to Eastern Europe ;)
Good video again!
Greetings from Bulgaria
What’s the tool you used to cut the copper sheet around the 00:18 mark?
Makita nibbler
love the corners and your juice finish!
I think a dream of mine is to be a coppersmith
Nice top. I read the title and thought you were going to make a copper spinning top. :[]
Have you ever heard of a brake?
Why don't you hit it some more?

Not very impressive
