In this video I give an honest long term review of my 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 SP2. The is my favorite bike of the fleet but as always, there are some things that I think could be improved. I discuss the pros vs cons as we ride through beautiful Tampa, FL.

Is it just me or does anyone else find lane splitting fun? Its legal where I Iive :D. Ducati has great looks but the heat and maintenance cost is a huge turn off. I always wondered why a Japanese brand hasnt tried to make a dupe of a Ducati looking bike? Then you'd have the best of both worlds, reliability and looks.

I've put almost 7000 miles on my Panigale in 7 months. I chose to do an oil change half way through otherwise the only things I've had to do is top up the coolant and bleed the clutch line.
When audi bought ducati the reliability actually went up. The panigale series is as reliable than other bikes tbh. This stigma only comes from people who dont own the bike
I thought it was fun and cool until a tractor trailer seen me and a friend of mine coming through traffic and purposely cut us off and ran my friend and his bike over with the trailer. Never done it again since that day. Seeing your friend die right in front of you changes your decision making process on things.
I lane split even tho it’s illegal, I DESPISE getting stuck in traffic and watching traffic in my rear view mirrors dive off the road to avoid crashing.

i pick my SP2 up mid January, i was lucky enough to get basically the last off the production line. i cant wait to get it and start doing some upgrades and first on the list is the exhaust. Arrow seem to be great looking and fairly well priced i fucken love the look of yours😍 you mentioned you havent seen a number over 1500 mine is number 1457

Low-exit Akrapovic is cheaper but marginally louder and also marginally lighter than the high-exit version. If you keep your eyes open you can get some better deals than the price you mentioned (you missed a killer installed deal from Hyside Motorcycles recently).

Summed it perfectly man. Beautiful bike. I'm on my first Ducati after 6 years on various S1000RR's and for the type of riding I love doing, it's hands down the best bike I've owned. Wish I could have afforded an SP2 but the S does the job and has me smiling every time I hit that start button let alone look at the fine ass thing 👌
I had a CBR 1000RR stretched and lowered. Had a ton of carbon fiber on it and a full akro exhaust. Would like a V4 SP2 next. Let's see!

You see, I'm all for loud bikes with racey sound. But on the street I just want to keep it quiet just so that I don't wake up people on my way home or from home if you know what I mean. When going to the track, it's so easy to swap the exhaust. Yes, by bringing the bike and extra exhaust there via rail motorcycle trailer so when poop goes down, you have a basically guaranteed way home.

What you said about the older Ducati moving a lot during shifting is actually what I enjoy the most. The raw feeling of the power and shift, no linear curve. I had a 1199 and would still take one or a 1299 over any V4. Same with the Hypermotard 939/821 I had. They have a soul. The new V4 or new hyper just feel Japanese and linear. Yes they are way more efficient and faster overall , that’s great for the track but the driving experience is way more emotional and I feel way more connected to the older models. Same with cars I guess .. but yeah both Ducati I had , had a bunch of issues too lol..
I agree… I had a 1299 S and it was the baddest bike I’ve ever ridden. Granted, I haven’t ridden a V4 but they just don’t sound or seem as inspiring to me.

Ducati bikes after 2012 have been pretty reliable. I've had an 1199 for 10 years and I've had zero problems with it. There was only 1 electrical problem that was done deliberately by a retarded "mechanic" but that's normal here in Bulgaria.
Ducati maintenance plan for the win. 6 Ducati services for less than the price of 1 desom service.

I love my SP2, I'm just rolling over 1k miles on it now (it'd be a lot higher but I bought it in Oct this year and live in the mountains of NC, it was 28 degrees this morning).

Ducati is the PERFECT 2nd motorcycle if you can afford cost of ownership and deal with the fact that you have to pay more for EVERYTHING and its usually a bit harder to get parts. If you can only own 1 bike and its prmary form of transportation, then Honda is the way to go, as they run FOREVER, have so much abundance of parts, etc... THE Duc is absolutely WORTH cost of ownership if you can afford it. I also love my Harleys as well though....also another bike with high cost.... When you buy a Ducati, you are buying a lifestyle, not just a motorcycle. (same with Harley)

Let me give you some advice D, if you wanna feel premium install the melotti top clamp on the r1 with attack performance 50mm zero offset clip ons. You’ll have the most premium feeling r1m. Bars will be in a perfect wide position nothing looks cleaner .

Oil changes are really simple and there’s no reason for not doing it yourself. Is the entire clutch really gone or does it just need new plates (which is an easy thing to do yourself and just routine maintenance)? It really shouldn’t be a $3K job every few thousand miles…

The clutch discs are like $400. So unless your basket and hub needed changing too, I'm thinking you got hit hard on that. Even if you did 2400 all on track, you should get more life from the basket and hub. Even racing, fr fr - the clutches would wear out fast but not so much the hub and basket. Big love. Some guy on the forums experienced the same thing and everyone said the dealer was getting creative.
My V4S has about 10K miles and the (wet) clutch is almost fried. Other than that these 10K miles have been nothing but insanity :D

Dry clutch change isnt bad to do yourself. No way i would pay $3k. Also the dry clutch goes out faster street riding because most people have a habit of slipping the clutch because you almost have to on the street.

I'm definitely not a Ducati guy because the cost of ownership and unreliability and can't stand the dry clutch noise But can't deny SP2 is my favorite Ducati the bike is beautiful not the boring red. The only way I would buy one is for collection.
I have a feeling that most people who talk about reliability issues do not own them. Reliability used to be typically Italian but that reputation is no longer valid (probably since Audi ownership). The dry clutch has advantages but does require more maintenance. Personally, I love the sound. Most importantly, they are great to ride, brilliant electronics, brakes and suspension.

I guess my 959 is just an outcast, i have absolutely no heat issues. Unlesss im riding through the mountains like im on a track staying in top of the rev range my fans almost never kick on even in GA heat

I’m not sure they have made more of the current V4R than the SP2. If they have then it’s not many more based on the numbers I have seen. I got my V4R very recently and it was number 613 (I don’t think they have shipped out of the factory in order of the bike’s number). I think I remember seeing one online in the 1,200s. My SP2 is a low number but I’ve seen one recently that was number 1,346, recently delivered to the dealer. I’d guess the total will be around 1,500 but perhaps not more than that. In short, I reckon they will end up supplying somewhere around the same number of each.

Ducati is NOT Ferrari or Lamborghini. The upfront cost is high & everyone knows that parts & service is high. An OEM clutch should be supported by replaced/repaired under warranty.

I ride in Sydney Australia without mirrors either on my GSXR-1000.... I just prefer having 0 distractions and do track days often anyway...it's obviously illegal though lol
