Here’s my own thoughts on the simile of salt. I think the salt represents god/his spirit. And everyone, at one point of their lifes are offered to come to him, giving meaning to “everyone will be salted with fire”. And salt loosing flavor, well think, what other things make something salty? Well there is none, salt is the only thing that makes things salty. I think this means that God is the only way you can get to heaven, achieving your “saltyness”. So if you fully lose your “saltyness”, then you are shutting out God. But to restore it, it would be by following him and being righteous. And as you retain the salt in yourself, by doing these things, good things will happen to/for you. That’s just my take on it.
