Why didn't Gamefreak think of that before? It saves the precious time going into your bag, looking for repels, activating it and, as soon as it runs out, doing the same all over again.
Also that there is a "free space" in your bag where you can put all your rarely used items so that they don't clock things up. I really missed the PC item storage in gen IV.
Whoa, thanks for the plug, CJ! I'm really glad you liked my Tropical Freeze review. Honestly, it cam as a shock when I heard my channel name at the end.
I pretty much agree with a lot of stuff on this list. Abilities, Double Battles, The Special/Physical Attack Split, *FREAKING UNLIMITED TMs! THANK YOU, ARCEUS! :D* Great List, CJ! Some of my favorite changes in Pokémon include Mega-Evolutions, Post-Game Facilities like the Battle Frontier, Battle Subway and especially the Pokémon World Tournament! And I can't forget a very overlooked change introduced in Black & White 2: In that game and X/Y, you'll be automatically asked if you want to use a new Repel instead of having to go into your bag and activate it by yourself! *SO USEFUL!*
Hey guys, does anyone remember the PC Boxes in Generation 1 (and to some extent 2)? Gen 3 and onward made everything PC related a billion times more convenient. I'm sad though about the change on Steel types. It's hindered me a lot more than hurt.
10: I'm really happy with. I love it when my Snorlax can take hits from Mewtwo 9: Its only really fun when it's with my friends. In the game I don't really care for it. 8: Getting rid of Steel types biggest perks. Not happy with that. 7: Thats in Gen 6? 6: Natures are some of my favorite things to toy around with. 5: I never really used those until recently, but now they help me with some of my favorite strategies. 4: One of the best things implemented in Pokemon aside from number 10 3: My Aggron I EV trained is still one of my best tanks and Dark Types are my second favorite type 2: This would be my favorite new thing implemented. 1: Pretty damn amazing thing done. My favorite thing from Black and White aside from Hydrogon
I think it's funny that the Special stat split and the introduction of Steel and Dark types haven't affected Mewtwo that much. It still runs train on just about anything XD.
I enjoyed the video as always...even though all the stats, acronyms, and math went completely over my head... .-. ....Wow, I'm a filthy casual when it comes to Pokemon xP
For number 1, lets give an example. Say, you were doing a Nuzlocke or a variant, and you teach a Pokémon a TM. In Gen 1-4, if the Pokémon died, that TM, unless you could buy it from the Department Stores, was wasted. With this, it won't be wasted, even if that Pokémon died.
" are you Jwittz? " lmao aaahh man i cried..this was good through and through...for me tho one of the best was MMing in 4th gen and 6th gen ev training with hordes..just..made life so simple...and i feel you about Sceptile, i have my Sceptile mega ready with outrage lol and i wish you would have told me u needed a ditto..i could have given u a shiny foreign 6 ivs ditto for free xD
I agree with them all. I also love how getting all Pokémon now comes with proper rewards and the fact that it's a lot easier to get them all as you don't have to buy several games like in Gen 3 >.> Other nice additions include assigning key items to buttons and not having to go into the menus whenever you need to surf, cut strength etc.
I totally agree about the TM's! When I was playing my first pokemon game, Diamond and Pearl (Technically it was Pokemon Red but my dad gave me that one), I was disappointed by the fact that I had only one shot at teaching a pokemon a new move. Until Black and White came out and I heard the kid say something about them being unlimited, so I quickly looked at the TMs in the bag and didn't see 'x1' near the TM. I was really happy. I love Pokemon Amie too, it's so cute/cool, depending on the pokemon.
Such a good video! This video is so good it's even one of my Favorite videos and you bet I smashed that like button Except I don't no why mega eveloution weren't on this list.....
For anyone that is complaining about him skipping a terrakion,cj said that he was not prepared to fight it,he wanted to make sure that he had enough ultra balls and that he wanted it to have a benefiting nature.
I so agree with number 1. I mean nobody wants to waste 10 hours of your day saving up for that Earthquake TM just to give your Garchomp a reliable Ground type attack.
My favorite change was the introduction of the Steel type. I don't know why, but I just love Steel types - Steelix, Aegislash, Metagross, Dialga, Magnezone... just to name a FEW of my favorites! :)
8:19 "Splash. It is pointless unless the opponents pokemon are fire type." Excuse me, what? I'm less baffled that he called Splash an ability than I am that he thinks Splash does something against fire types.
Surprised you didn't put repels being prompted immediately after running out on here, I mean, talk about convenient. But this was a great list that I agreed with, regardless, and I was entertained throughout!
Despite most good TMs becoming single use TRs again in Generation 8, I felt that made the whole TM and TRs system even BETTER. 200 moves to teach Pokémon between both methods means both old and News Pokémon got access to some crazy moves that weren't ever available to them before. I could play Sword with a whole team of new Pokémon that got new access to close combat (Aegislash, Tyrantrum and Absol but only after crown tundra, Conkeldurr, and Haxorus), and that's only 5 Pokémon and ONE TR. Don't even get me started on moves like Spikes, Nasty Plot, Dragon Dance and Hydro Pump. Not only that, but it made it easy to raise some Pokémon to higher potential without having to breed for certain moves, like Nasty Plot Togekiss and Rock Blast, Icicle Crash Skill Link Cloyster
I can not tell you how relieved I am that TM's are FINALLY unlimited, in the old games I used to horde so many of them cause I was unsure on which Pokemon to use it on, now that stress is OVER and I can use any TM's on my strongest/favorite Pokemon.
I doubt that's the only reason but it could be one of the reasons. In sword form Aegislash is pretty frail, but in shield form it's a brick wall with the right stats. It's unique move Kind's Shield is also amazing for dealing with physical attackers when used properly.
TMs being unlimited is quite convenient. Perhaps a bit too convenient... I personally only play Pokemon for the single player and in single player, having TMs be limited makes them an awesome rare thing to find. I was happier about finding a TM previously than I am now. I feel like what they should've done instead is to have a shop AFTER the Elite Four that has all the TMs. This way it's not "too easy" to get TMs anymore for those who only care for single player nor for making competitive teams, while the people who play competitively (who are very likely to have already completed the game) have an easy option to get the TMs. That's just my opinion, though. I just feel like the next step would be to have unlimited potions, or unlimited Pokeballs. That would just be... I don't know.
I can see that, but I'm also the kind of player who will sometimes train the same pokemon twice so I'm glad I don't have to keep buying a new game to get more TMs or fly to a mart to get it. For me this just cuts out the fat and it is optional so you're not forced to use it. I don't think they would do unlimited potions, they already did the next step by having doctors in caves.
I'm not a big fan of "It's optional, if you don't like it, don't use it"... but I guess I could pretend I can only use every TM once? It'd just be kinda silly to do that, I think. I don't know. On a kinda different yet related note: I seem to be the odd one out with many of these things, anyway. I'd disagree with many of your picks in your top list because all these things make Pokemon more and more complicated. (Yes, I know unlimited TM use makes things easier, but the game will be designed around having more options so you'll have variables to consider). I couldn't enjoy Pokemon gen 5 because of how deep and difficult it was. Usually, I'm all for challenge, but I thought Pokemon games were supposed to be the franchise that even people who hate RPGs can enjoy because of it's simplicity and accessibility. Everyone understands the concept of "A dragon, it looks cool and it breathes fire, so it must be good, I should catch it", but not everyone will understand having many different stats, abilities and especially the physical/special-split thing. I don't know. I feel like this is the one thing earlier Pokemon games had over the newer ones (except maybe gen 6 because that game is all kinds of easy in the wrong ways). It's been catering towards the competitive older audience more and more over the years while forgetting that there are younger people that only play the singleplayer and just want to have an easy yet fun time. And yes, I know there is an easy mode in gen 5-2, but unfortunately, I don't really have any friends that could get me the easy mode. Who thought it was a good idea to have the player UNLOCK an EASIER mode after completing the game once on the NORMAL difficulty? XD
timmifutz I don't see your point here though. Sure it caters to the competitive crowd but it's really not that hard to beat the game with NU tier pokemon. They made it that way so it can be enjoyed by the younger crowd (my 7 year old cousin for example) yet they keep improving the online stuff for the competitive crowd to enjoy. I don't know if you just had a difficult time with the game for some unknown reason but my cousin plays for fun and never had any real problems besides this type hits this or gets hit by this.
OK, CJ... while the Mario Kart 8 impressions was my least favorite video of yours...just two videos later, you have made a Top 10 list so good, that I have no problem calling this my favorite video you have ever made. Most of the list was pretty great. And then when abilities came up, I KNEW you wouldn't pass up the chance to make a joke about the "Where's Splash?" people... and was I the only one that caught the fact that you stuck a "Are you jwittz?" comment in there? To be honest, this Top 10 rivals anything he has ever done with Pokemon, and in fact, I think it's better. I'm a little disappointed in myself for not predicting your #1 correctly (I really should have!) Because my #1 is the same as yours. #1 and 2, actually! Lastly, I loved the little troll at the beginning, and the Fake Tears thing was so clever considering the move lowers Special Defense! Absolutely MASTERFUL work, CJ! Also, this video came out sooner than I expected, which seemingly always happens with you...
Fun fact, a Pokemon that comes from the gen 1 games will be holding an item when it comes to gen 2, gen 1 remembers what the Pokemon is holding and even uses it to give a few surprises
The change I really liked was the trading system, now you don't need to be friends with someone in order to trade! That is a huge change for me as I can ask for any Pokemon without limiting to who I can trade with.
One thing you have to realize in generation 1 is that pure psychic types were a lot rarer than they are in other generations. The only Pure psychic type pokemon were Mewtwo, Hypno, and Alakazam. Mewtwo and Alakazam should be OP (in PvE) because Mewtwo was a reward for beating the game and Alakazam was a reward for catching a raising an Abra. Of course generation 1 isn't perfect, but I think the OPness of psychic types was hardly game breaking. Superb list tho. Great editing
i agree on absolutely every point you say. the only thing i regret is that with fairy types my subDDnite is only a shadow of what he was, but it's funnier to battle now that he is not a winning condition from the very start, but instead i have to support it to get the chance to sweep. ironically, i ENJOY a type who i feared it would ruin my team!
*(list spoilers)* At first I thought splitting moves into special and physical attacks should have been without a doubt number 1, it pretty much perfected the pokemon battle system. Then I realized number 1 definitely deserved its spot; the sheer convenience alone made battling the way we are now possible. Imagine having to go through games over and over (saving only a couple pokemon each time to end up with your perfect roster) just because some really useful TMs could only be found once.
Dang it Cj I was one of those people who thought splash was an ability even before I played the main series and understood everything and for that I apologize. My favorite changes in the Pokemon series though are TMS never running out, the physical special split, and being able to hold an item in battle.
The #1 spot...OMFG! Thank you soooooooooooooooo mcuh, gen 5! This installment was a VERY welcomed edition for me and most likely a LOT of othe rpeople, too!
Number 2 is both good and bad because some moves special sweepers could use like the punches are no longer as much of an option unless the pokemon also has good attack (or a move to boost it) However it's given a lot of physical sweepers more options, In Sceptile's case, sure he doesn't have moves like thunderpunch and crunch to use as special attacks anymore, but he has more physical attacks to work with if you want to use a swords dance set, thanks to crunch, dragon claw, leaf blade and thunderpunch.
The nerd of weather in 6th gen was SO important to the balancing of that meta, if I told you what gen was most broken in competitive pokemon, I would have said gen 5 in a heart beat, politoeds everywhere and tyranitars everywhere, broken pokemon like excadrill.
these are all really good, but I have a number 11. raiseing flame shield. I like mega evolutions. not enough to get over the attack splits, but mega evolutions are good none the less.
Here's my problem with the physical special split. Most other RPGs try to make both the Physical and Magic attacks relevant to every character. Lets look at Xenoblade for a second. Every character has physical and ether arts that are great, for example Melia has Spear Break and Starlight Kick in addition to crazy powerful summoning arts. Then you don't feel like any stat is completely wasted. In Pokemon, most pokemon care about one attack stat or the other. The uninvested stat is completely wasted. I think the biggest example of this is Fire types, who tend to not be all that competitively strong because so many stat points are wasted. Before the split, having high stats in both areas meant you had access to better type coverage.
CJ, I just noticed that there's a typo in the Pokedex entry at 7:25. It says "decsended". It's nothing big though, not really worth fixing honestly. Great video! :D
***** Of course. Your username and thumbnail together are hard to forget. Separately maybe but not together. If I'm not mistaken you've been around my channel for a very long time and we actually had very similar opinions in the Smash Final Broadcast video I did. Good to see another opinion we agree on (even if unlimited TM's aren't your favorite you at least agree that it's a good thing).
My favorite change in Pokemon is that they made Bug Pokemon usable in Gen 5. Before that, Bug-types were mostly just a joke. >_> It also made Bug-type my favorite Pokemon type. :P
i think the best change i personally like was the encounter rating for shiny pokemon in x/y, a 1 in 4,096 chance of finding a shiny Pokémon instead of 1 in 8,192
I would like to know how a gen 3 remake could change your kalos list. Stats? Megas? If megas was your excuse, this is a hoenn remake which will focus more to give megas to hoenn pokemon, like sceptile, swampert, salamence, etc. Just wondering.
I miss the Joint Avenue, PWT and PokéStar Studio... Black2/White2 had the best content! Throw in the HG/SS Pokémon following you and Pokéwalker features and BOOM! Perfect game for me.
*Sees that Cj's Xerneas has the same moveset as mine Huh, well would you look at that. As for Mega Sceptile has it been confirmed what changes to the stats it will have yet? Mewtwo for example became a physical attacker upon mega evolving into Mega Mewtwo X despite Mewtwo being a special attacker otherwise. What if Mega Evolution does the same with Sceptile? Sure being a Grass/Dragon Type now would probably require different moves then Crunch and Thunderpunch but being a physical attacker would definitely cover it's weaknesses more than being a special attacker.
The way I see it, Megas will stay true to the original stat distribution of the Pokemon. The only exceptions are Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Charizard X. However, they both got 2 Megas, and their counterparts are both Special attackers, like the original Pokémon. They could afford to mix up their stat distribution. Mega Garchomp did lose speed, but that was only its 3rd highest stat, with hp and attack being higher. To stay true to its best 2 stats they made Garchomp bulkier and more powerful, in exchange for speed. IMO I see Mega Sceptile receiving a boost to both offences and its speed stats. Sceptile was always an offensively oriented Pokemon. They will boost its offensive stats. But seeing as how its special attack is higher, and the fact that its ability boosts its SPECIAL attack, I believe its highest stats will be speed and special attack. But if it's attack is at least 115 or higher, a mixed attacking set could still work :)
I agree with unlimited TMs being number 1 because before Gen 5 I NEVER used TMs, mainly because I like hoarding all of my items. Really, I never even used a Master Ball.
I knew the physical/special split would be on here due to it being SO DAMN USEFUL in competitive battling and such. But, I didn't know about the #1 choice due to the fact that I haven't bought the new games and refuse to do so.
heres another unique change. remember when you had to have a gameboy cable link to trade pokemon for generations 1-3? well as of the ds version or generation 4. you only needed a inferred wireless connection to trade pokemon between games. that also counts as another change in the games i think.
I would say the Soaring function, but that would be too obvious. The Mirage "Islands" was a unique feature. Some pokemon you can't find on the map are on these islands and special item farming works when you want more than one pokemon to hold Razor Claw in competitive battle. Or farming the shards to get evolution stones that you sell later for quick cash.
Do your pokemon need perfect IVs to take on the battle institute or battle maison? Because I fight NPCs with really strong attacks but my pokemon hardly make a scratch on them. I got a perfect IV pokemon from wonder trade and it seems to fare better than most of my pokemon in battles.
***** And frankly, Dark and Steel, both in the amount of moves available in Gen 2 AND in the amount of Pokémon available, I feel did very little to upset the Psychic type themselves. Didn't help that even then, Dark types (sans Umbreon) weren't available until after the Elite Four, Steelix and Scizor were only available by trading their pre-evolutions with a Metal Coat (which outside of the occasional wild Magnemite, was only available after the Elite Four...again), and Skarmory was unobtainable in Gold. Plus, many Psychic types also had access to moves other other types that could be seriously damaging (such as Thunderbolt or Fire Punch). Honestly, the Special Attack/Defense split did much more to "counter" the Psychic type than the addition of Dark and Steel, given that many of them either got poor Special Defense, or had their previous Special be the Special Defense, thus giving them a poor(er) Special Attack. Meanwhile, in Gen V, Dragons were only resisted by the Steel type, which has since grown dramatically. However, practically every Dragon type had a move that could counter the Steel type, such as Fire Blast or Earthquake. The Fairy type introduction single-handedly did more to fix the Dragon-type problem, resorting to many of them needing a Steel or Poison type move to properly respond, and not all of them could do it.
I agree. 22 Pokémon changed to Fairy partly or fully, the latter getting back at Fighting types for five generations of getting beaten. Sableye and Spiritomb now have at least one weakness! No more Wonder Guard hacks! Finally, a type that can slay Dragons while still being able to hold on!
Is it strange that I started with a gen 3 game and practically fell in love with psychic type there? I never do it on purpose but I normally find that without meaning to I made half my team psychic type. Started with Ralts who with a little bit of training ended up being one of my power-houses.
I disagree with Steel types losing their resistances to Ghost and Dark types. It decreases the value in the primary function: To wall of attacks and neutralize their secondary weakness.
Yeah I don't have any changes or additions to this list outside of maybe the order. And wait, Mega Sceptile's ability is lighting rod? That is one of the most redundant abilities outside of levitate on Rotom fan, especially if Mega Sceptiles attack will be higher then its special attack.
I just hate how the Destiny Knot sometimes decides to pass down the IV values of the Pokemon NOT HOLDING IT! I'm serious! It's happened dozens of times and I have to "chain breed" with the offspring that get the better IVs until I'm satisfied.
I consider the Fairy-type the "Brony-type," due to many similarities with the fandom. *Awaits the explanation of Poison-type's strength to Brony-types.*
Terra (the chocolate pegasus mare): What Jane means by the "expla-NEIGH-tion of Poison-type's strength to Brony-types" is something like "bronies are a cancer" and such...
Undoubtedly the best change in any Pokémon game is B/W2's addition of asking you whether you want to use another Repel.
Why didn't Gamefreak think of that before? It saves the precious time going into your bag, looking for repels, activating it and, as soon as it runs out, doing the same all over again.
Nah, I think Bidoof was the best change. :P
Acsilverfish360 Damn, how did I forget Bidoof
Op as shit man. Total game changer. Lol. That or having the option to have more than one key item

The Emerald glitch & Darunia dance jokes were some of the best things you've ever done!
Wow! I am a new sub, and I am very impressed! You have a mix of humor, facts, references, and WOW! You're great! Count me in on your vids!
im a long-time fan and unlike most people who get slightly worse over time, CJ just got BETTER! You will REALLY enjoy his videos!
***** Cool!
Yah, and unlike other UA-camr's older videos that are almost unwatchable, CJ's are still great. You should watch them all, totally worth it!
Who got worse?
I like your new editing.
Steelix being hit in the face with a steel ball is hilarious.
9:35 I'm so glad they changed that.
Mega Heracross: "Did somebody say Pin Missile?"
Hey guys, does anyone remember the PC Boxes in Generation 1 (and to some extent 2)? Gen 3 and onward made everything PC related a billion times more convenient.
I'm sad though about the change on Steel types. It's hindered me a lot more than hurt.
I mean help. Whatever, I hate the steel type nerf.
Meh, it still kind of bothers me that you can't unload items you don't want in your bag anymore into your PC. But otherwise yeah it was nice.
Dude, the Goron Dance joke never gets old, just like Doh I Missed!
I could not agree more with #1. I remember in Pokemon Pearl teaching my Pachirisu Grass Knot biggest mistake I ever made.
LOL at the Lugia-Sceptile joke.
10: I'm really happy with. I love it when my Snorlax can take hits from Mewtwo
9: Its only really fun when it's with my friends. In the game I don't really care for it.
8: Getting rid of Steel types biggest perks. Not happy with that.
7: Thats in Gen 6?
6: Natures are some of my favorite things to toy around with.
5: I never really used those until recently, but now they help me with some of my favorite strategies.
4: One of the best things implemented in Pokemon aside from number 10
3: My Aggron I EV trained is still one of my best tanks and Dark Types are my second favorite type
2: This would be my favorite new thing implemented.
1: Pretty damn amazing thing done. My favorite thing from Black and White aside from Hydrogon
8:19 "Are you Jwittz" killed me
And here I was thinking that the physical/special split would be #1. But you are correct, reusable TMs are the best thing ever.
13:17 did he just skip a Terrakion?!
+MrMrcoolgames yes...
+MrMrcoolgames Yep he did
That Terrakion is a guaranteed encounter anyway, so...
I think it's funny that the Special stat split and the introduction of Steel and Dark types haven't affected Mewtwo that much. It still runs train on just about anything XD.
I enjoyed the video as always...even though all the stats, acronyms, and math went completely over my head... .-.

Heehee, you had a lot of fun editing this huh? ^_^ Looks like you enjoyed yourself. Great vid!

Great countdown, I really enjoyed it.
I agree with them all. I also love how getting all Pokémon now comes with proper rewards and the fact that it's a lot easier to get them all as you don't have to buy several games like in Gen 3 >.>

"i wanna do the goron dance but ive done it too much. ok just a quick one dun dun dun" I like cried laughing over that
THE MONADO!!!! I really enjoy the story of Xenoblade Chronicles from what I've seen so far.
Repel's effect wore off!
Use another?
Great vids as usual, CJ. I definitely agree on most of these. Also loved the soundtrack you put in here. Anyway, keep up the awesome work.
Such a good video! This video is so good it's even one of my Favorite videos and you bet I smashed that like button
Except I don't no why mega eveloution weren't on this list.....
those were unbalanced.
For anyone that is complaining about him skipping a terrakion,cj said that he was not prepared to fight it,he wanted to make sure that he had enough ultra balls and that he wanted it to have a benefiting nature.
I definitely gotta agree with number 1. Not having to worry about using TMs gives a lot more freedom and makes things less frustrating.
I love how in Pokémon X and Y you can actually change how your character looks.
I so agree with number 1. I mean nobody wants to waste 10 hours of your day saving up for that Earthquake TM just to give your Garchomp a reliable Ground type attack.
I feel your pain about #10... But I had the opposite version!
Omg i feel you with the messed up sceptile move set! I loved that special attack power house
My favorite change was the introduction of the Steel type. I don't know why, but I just love Steel types - Steelix, Aegislash, Metagross, Dialga, Magnezone... just to name a FEW of my favorites! :)
I waqnt a cybernetic black steel-dragon-type dragon
8:19 "Splash. It is pointless unless the opponents pokemon are fire type." Excuse me, what? I'm less baffled that he called Splash an ability than I am that he thinks Splash does something against fire types.
Luna Cappell and fast forward to the release of Z-Splash and those comments look even more stupid.
0_0 I've played too much pokemon. I predicted what most of these were before you put them. Awesome list, though! :D
you know what makes me do the goron dance? HEARING THAT LUCINA AND ROBIN ARE IN THE NEXT SMASH! WOOOOO!!!!
So CJ...now with HMs gone in Sun & Moon, how would this list look today?
That might be 2nd place. I still love that TM's are unlimited.
cjszero01 I thought so. ;)
Surprised you didn't put repels being prompted immediately after running out on here, I mean, talk about convenient. But this was a great list that I agreed with, regardless, and I was entertained throughout!
1. yes, that is the most useful change ever.
Despite most good TMs becoming single use TRs again in Generation 8, I felt that made the whole TM and TRs system even BETTER.
200 moves to teach Pokémon between both methods means both old and News Pokémon got access to some crazy moves that weren't ever available to them before. 0:52-1:02 I feel your pain CJ... I feel your pain. All my generation 2 versions (gold, silver, and crystal) suffered the same fate...
I can not tell you how relieved I am that TM's are FINALLY unlimited, in the old games I used to horde so many of them cause I was unsure on which Pokemon to use it on, now that stress is OVER and I can use any TM's on my strongest/favorite Pokemon.
I swear the steel resistance change came into fruition purely because of Aegislash.
I doubt that's the only reason but it could be one of the reasons. In sword form Aegislash is pretty frail, but in shield form it's a brick wall with the right stats. It's unique move Kind's Shield is also amazing for dealing with physical attackers when used properly.
I got a picture of that speed deoxys during the number 1 transition. Take that Todd Snap!
Ahhh the glory days.... :) I feel like he was at his best in this point of time.
I just started getting into Pokemon at the time, but after playing some older games, I know how great #1 is!
That Garchomp could be used in Pokemon World Tournaments and win by itself!
On a kinda different yet related note:
I seem to be the odd one out with many of these things, anyway.
It's just gen 5, really, I had a lot of problems with that for some reason.
timmifutz hay i never used TM in previous gens because of their single use.
OK, CJ... while the Mario Kart 8 impressions was my least favorite video of yours...just two videos later, you have made a Top 10 list so good, that I have no problem calling this my favorite video you have ever made.
Number 2 is both good and bad because some moves special sweepers could use like the punches are no longer as much of an option unless the pokemon also has good attack (or a move to boost it)
However it's given a lot of physical sweepers more options, In Sceptile's case, sure he doesn't have moves like thunderpunch and crunch to use as special attacks anymore, but he has more physical attacks to work with if you want to use a swords dance set, thanks to crunch, dragon claw, leaf blade and thunderpunch.
These are what make Pokemon better and better.
The nerd of weather in 6th gen was SO important to the balancing of that meta, if I told you what gen was most broken in competitive pokemon, I would have said gen 5 in a heart beat, politoeds everywhere and tyranitars everywhere, broken pokemon like excadrill.
2:03 Monado vs Master Sword. Mechon Buster vs evil buster.
these are all really good, but I have a number 11. raiseing flame shield.
I like mega evolutions. not enough to get over the attack splits, but mega evolutions are good none the less.
My top ten (As of this moment):
10. Pokérus
9. Horde Battles
8. Reusable TMs
7. Abilities
6. Physical/Special Split
5. WiFi
4. New Types
3. Items
2. Shiny Charm
1. Shinies
this is super personal but I like how oras allows you to fly to routes now. that's a pretty great feature.
Agreed
I remember my surprise when I used a TM in White and realized it wasn't gone.
It's a wonderful feeling isn't it? :)
cjszero01 It was such a blessing.
BTW do you remember me?
*****
Of course. Your username and thumbnail together are hard to forget. Separately maybe but not together. If I'm not mistaken you've been around my channel for a very long time and we actually had very similar opinions in the Smash Final Broadcast video I did. Good to see another opinion we agree on (even if unlimited TM's aren't your favorite you at least agree that it's a good thing).
cjszero01 ^_^
I'm one of those usernames that are hard to forget and is on every video XD
My favorite change in Pokemon is that they made Bug Pokemon usable in Gen 5. Before that, Bug-types were mostly just a joke. >_> It also made Bug-type my favorite Pokemon type. :P
i think the best change i personally like was the encounter rating for shiny pokemon in x/y, a 1 in 4,096 chance of finding a shiny Pokémon instead of 1 in 8,192
here's something about the accuracy of moves: moves like thunder and blizzard have 70% accuracy, but NPCs can use these moves and hit 99% of the time.
*Sees that Cj's Xerneas has the same moveset as mine
Huh, well would you look at that.
The Special/Physical split made Gyarados useful
At least Sceptile can learn Swords Dance so you can take advantage of some kickass physical attacks.
I agree with unlimited TMs being number 1 because before Gen 5 I NEVER used TMs, mainly because I like hoarding all of my items. Really, I never even used a Master Ball.
i feel like the super training option to be a awesome addition. it make ev training so much easier
I honestly like the gts because you can trade around the world and can trade to get any pokemon you want if they trade you.
Oh, and also, didn't Gen 1 have that glitch in which Psychic types were actually immune to Ghost moves? Not like they'd be much help anyway, but...
Did u get a 3ds capture card?
Unlimited TM's and running are my favorite changes
I would say the Soaring function, but that would be too obvious. The Mirage "Islands" was a unique feature. Some pokemon you can't find on the map are on these islands and special item farming works when you want more than one pokemon to hold Razor Claw in competitive battle. Or farming the shards to get evolution stones that you sell later for quick cash.
Can't you find Deoxys without events on Mirage Island?
Steel is my favorite type, so I hate that it got nerfed in Gen 6 haha
Just like you I chosen Bulbasaur but I also got Delfox . I love my Mewtwo,Gallade,Bulbasaur,Lucario & more!
What are the sound clips for the numbers from? I.e 10th place, 9th place etc etc?
Do your pokemon need perfect IVs to take on the battle institute or battle maison? Because I fight NPCs with really strong attacks but my pokemon hardly make a scratch on them. I got a perfect IV pokemon from wonder trade and it seems to fare better than most of my pokemon in battles.
In terms of immediate impact, I feel the Fairy types did more than the Dark and Steel types.
dragons weren't BROKEN.
***** yes they were, have you ever faced a moxie, d-dance life orb Salamence, really broken we needed that
***** And frankly, Dark and Steel, both in the amount of moves available in Gen 2 AND in the amount of Pokémon available, I feel did very little to upset the Psychic type themselves.
MasterTP10 ok, i get it DX
I agree. 22 Pokémon changed to Fairy partly or fully, the latter getting back at Fighting types for five generations of getting beaten. Sableye and Spiritomb now have at least one weakness! No more Wonder Guard hacks! Finally, a type that can slay Dragons while still being able to hold on!
0:54 . My favorite moment on this list !
uh.. Psychic was immune to Ghost in gen 1... bad glitch
What about the critical health change where it's now a song instead of an annoying beep sound?
+Frost Storm it interrupts eargasms to plazma theme
That TM one screwed over my torterra even more because it's not unique for learning earthquake anymore.
Is it strange that I started with a gen 3 game and practically fell in love with psychic type there? I never do it on purpose but I normally find that without meaning to I made half my team psychic type. Started with Ralts who with a little bit of training ended up being one of my power-houses.
I laughed so hard at the end of the Number 2 spot. Eh, close enough.
Cool
Terra (the chocolate pegasus mare): What Jane means by the "expla-NEIGH-tion of Poison-type's strength to Brony-types" is something like "bronies are a cancer" and such...
Huh idk
Terra: Well, now you know.
Yea
