If you have a AMS what are the symptoms or how do you know if the tubing is worn and the the mesh is exposed before the tissue can grow into it. If it’s not leaking I would assume the patient wouldn’t know?

to summarize, if Coloplast would put an extra layer over the tubing, it would be nearly a perfect implant. Maybe is it possible to customize the Coloplast tubing?

Hey Doc! What if we catch an infection repeatedly? Won’t we become completely dysfunctional forever? How often has it happened that someone could never get the implant due to infection? Please reply

Infection of the penile implant is the most serious complication of the penile implant procedure. An infection occurs because the device becomes contaminated with bacteria, usually from the patient’s skin, during the surgery. It occurs more often when the procedure is performed by less experienced doctors. Our infection rate based on 3756 primary implants using our No-Touch which we invented in 2006 is 0.4%. The lowest published infection rate in the world. You can watch the surgery on UA-cam as well as read about it on our website www.urologicalcare.com. If an implant gets infected it needs to be completely removed which will result in a permanently scarred and shrunken penis. All subsequent implants will be much more difficult to perform and with a less than desirable result because the size will be shorter than normal. There is no substitute for having the procedure performed by an experienced team such as ours. Implants is the only surgery that we do and our team has performed close to 8000 implants since 1988.

have you ever done the procedure on a young patient? Im 27 had a penile fracture that seemed like nothing but it actually was a penile fracture. My left corpus works fine while the other has a bump and becomes slightly deformed during erections. I'm thinking about it. My length was 5.3 inches

Rigicon is a relatively new company regarding penile implants. It was created by a Turkish urologist and the devices are very similar to the AMS devices. Compared to the AMS devices that have been in production since 1973, Rigicon is in its infancy. The Rigicon 3 piece device is not available in the US and is currently undergoing clinical trials. It is available in Europe however long term data and life expectancy of the device is unknown. The best device is the one that will fit the penis the best based on the individual’s anatomy. For penises that are 5 inches or greater in the erect state, in general, the Coloplast cylinders remain the best option as these cylinders provide the most girth and rigidity.

@@JFrancoisEidMD I have a surgery scheduled with Dr Levine in Chicago to get an AMS, because I'm worried about the discomfort of the Coloplast cylinders. He at first suggested the Coloplast for my anatomy, but I told him of my concerns about the comfort of the cylinders and he seemed okay with my decision to get the CX. Do you think I am being unwise to choose comfort over durability?
