I have visited mizoram a total of 4 times, and id say the best time to visit is during christmas or close to christmas [generally from the 20th] where the city especially aizawl decorate their streets, houses, etc, to a very christmas theme, snowman that is made from not snow [because obviously it doesnt snow in mizoram], LED lights that is decorated in a way that it looks like an angel, the handcrafting of Jesus's birth, christmas musics [english or their own language] playing everywhere, the salvation army performing in order to raise funds for charity, etc, tho the traffic is EXTREMELY heaving during those times especially during the night, its worth it, and you probably still wouldnt see any tourist which was shocking to me, and if you speak english, communication wouldn't be a problem, tho having a conversation might be difficult because they dont use english aside from their studies but most of the time its possible to have an English conversation with teenagers and young adults, only problem is that they are shy af

Its usually because we are taught to be respectful, quiet and reserved and be mindful of people who are around us that may find us annoying if we are loud and obnoxious, so we tend to keep things to ourselves hence we became shy because a lot of social conversation are speak in a very respectful manners if they're acquaintances but if you're considered one of the group or a friend y'all we are loud afff we laugh so loud we would literally scream to take our turn to have a conversation its a total 360 but if you're someone who is a still new we tends to show the "Good" side of our personality cause impression really matters in our society I guess

Try interacting with the youngsters, especially those who seem to be in high school or college level. Even tho most Mizos learn English and can understand u, you'll have a better experience in talkn wit the youngsters who are very fluent in English compared to the middle aged people. If u post consistently about your travels here in our state, you'll get a lotta love and support from my people. We're a pretty underrated and unheard-of state in India so we deeply appreciate & welcome anyone taking the time to visit us. Even most of our fellow Indians don't know where our state is (I'm speaking frm experience of being born and raised in the mainland states). We just be chillin fr, so it ain much news from our state to reach the mainstream Indian media unless they post a usually over exaggerated news about random drug busts to continue their habit of trying to defame our state every now and then.

Bro, Mizoram stood alone before it was a part of India. During the Britishers we were invaded. We had our own culture and language of course everyone does. But we are tribal speaking Tibetan-Burman. That's why we look so different. Likewise, other NE states can share almost similar history of how they become a part of India.

Aizawl : the second syllable '' should be pronounced as ' all' like. 'Aiz....all ' ( not Aiz ... owl) ...and the third syllable in Mizoram - 'ram' should be pronounced as 'rum' , yes , as in the alcohol family as whisky , vodka or 'rum' 😂

Very nice. Fun fact: Mizoram doesnt exist until about 1800 where colonist Britishers spread Christianity to the land and united the various ethnic clans into the name Mizo, then the clans took the name united and inspired with a new perspective from the Britishers (this section is a bit controversial as there are too many armchair experts in the comments). Mizo (hill people) ram (land). Mizo people are enthnically called Kuki-Chin-Mizo (our ancestors are from central eastern tibet from china region there they migrated south and west and now) from a language family of Sino-Tibetan languages (china Tibet) who are spread across west myanmar, manipur and eastern borders of Bangladesh and of course mizoram. Before the advent of Christianity, our people were animist, worshipped spirits of the forest, animals, and inanimate objects like big tree trunks etc. mizo is a very new term, other big languages similar to mizo language (it's sister languages): are Ralte, Hmar, Lai (Chin as in Chin state of myanmar), Laizo, Paite (Zomi), Mara (Lakher), Vaiphei, Gangte, Simte, Zou just to name a few. They form a language / dialect continuum as you move away or closer to depending on the region (just like every other language as in european languages like romance, slavic, germanic languages).
Disclaimer: the abovementioned facts are to be taken with a grain of salt as much of Mizo and its former history is orally passed and written records exists only from the 18hundreds.
