I've been keeping fish for over 35 years now. The innovation and improvement in lighting is so much greater than any other area of technology we use. I've tried so many things over the years, and still have some sumps, HOBs and canisters, but most of my tanks today are run off UGFs and box filters just like in the 80's. And I'm using the same heaters I did in the 90's only they're blue now instead of green. Meanwhile I can get one of these 'cheap' LEDs (I love Nicrew and Hygger) and have it work very well for 2-3 years. Sure I have to replace the whole thing, but that's still cheaper and easier than replacing T5 bulbs and those didn't last 2-3 years. You can grow 90+% of plants for years with a $20-$25 light nowadays, and most are easily adjustable to boot. That's just amazing to me.
I was also using T5 lights on my Juwel Vision 450..but proved so expensive this time to replace, as water got inside them..Then I found these LED lights, which are far better and cheaper👍🏼
I’ve got one of these on a nano tank with Java fern, Anubis nana and nana petite, dwarf hair grass, bacopa, some java moss, and planted water sprite. Grows everything great about two clicks down from max strength for 8 hours. Definitely have to trim my water sprite often
I have a nicrew on my 16 gallon. It seems fine, and the plants are growing like gangbusters, but i think the plant growth is more about the fluval stratum than that light. I had to cap the stratum with sand recently because it's loaded with smelly gasses! My water is fine, but it's Gross! LOL
Jason, I wish all the other creator's would do these type of reviews. Unboxing, 6 months, and 1 year. For the record, I started with Nicrew, and switched over to Hygger, very happy with them. Thank you from NYC
I have that light on the middle section of the aquarium and it’s working out great. Glad to hear what settings you like. Mine is two clicks down from max as well. On high I was worried it may get be too bright for the Java ferns so I brought it down a bit. So far so good!
Great video. I have the Nicrew classic on a 12 inch deep tank. My taller plants are growing ok but I have a ton of dwarf sagittaria that I planted over a month ago and they aren't growing at all, and some have died. Any ideas? Thanks
i bought a nicrew 36" with dual channel timer from amazon ,it lasted one year and would no longer ramp up or go to full brightness ,i contacted the company and reseaved the run around lol no mo ni crew for me ill pay the extra and get a fluval
Help what version is the one you have, there is so many Im confused, I want yours than can change light intensity and blue and white lights (and greens I think)
I have three tanks with Nicrew lights. Spectrum is easy on the eye, they last and you can check my video on a 10 gallon, yes they grow plants, yea pearlweed.
I have had a few of the same lights for a year and really like them. I recently upgraded to the digital controller for my new tank and it's even better! So easy to set and go! I will definitely go with the upgrade again. I really like Hygger.
Great video, thanks. I regret buying the Beamswork light. It's way too bright. I have to put a cloth under it to dim it down. Next time I'll buy one that's adjustable.
What is the name and type of fish at 4:05 in the video. Not sure if they are a platy or sword tail, but what is that color pattern called with the black body and red fins?
I use this light on my 20 high but it doesn’t have those fancy settings, just white, blue, and off. I’ve had this light for 3 years and it’s still growing plants for me and it hadn’t dimmed at all! Overall the Nicrew lights are a 10/10 for me.
I have 3 Nicrew lites and think they do a good job. The one is on a goldfish tank with no live plants the other two are on a 20g and a 40 gal and my low light anubias banana and val are growing fine. Will buy Nicrew again.
Mine was 2 years old in April. It's starting to dim some and will need to be replaced soon I think. I can't complain for the price. It's been a good light.
Thanks for the video.... I have almost all nicrew. They are affordable for the fish room, Would love to get 2 Kessel for our show tank in the rec. room , when renovation is complete.

I’ve used 2 of them for 4-5 years and still use 1 of them. Good light especially for the money. No issues both work well.
woo new video
Glad to see a review after 12 months. I don't see them very often. Usually it's only a month or 2.
Thanks
I have this light for my 20g long. The brightness is adjustable and there is a timer.

Awesome vid. I use a shop light on my gold fish tank works well and was only 20$ at harbor freight. And it gives a nice color
Does anyone know what fish are at 1:56?
I love these lights especially when you buy their timer. It’s been rock solid for me for the price.
Good to hear!

What size tank? Mine grows hella algae

I have the oldish version of the nicrew light. It works pretty good for me,but not for high light plants

I’ve found it hard to grow too!
What do you guys mean by “how did this light hold up” its a good cheap light
He is showing us that it didn't break, stop working, malfunction, or degrade over the year that he was using it.

There should be a link in the description!
I got one after your first video and it is still going strong 👍👍👍
Hello. Much love. Yeah I like mine for the price. Not much complaints
I purchased a smaller nicrew around the same time and so far I'm happy with it. Decent adjustability and good pricing for what you get.
Cool!

Thank you for this review. I will probably try this light. I don't enjoy the lights I have purchased with 24/7 mode. Just prefer On/Off at will.
Love your channel, really useful and down to earth information. & in this hobby, anecdotal information is super useful.
Every tank in my fishroom uses a nicrew light , decent for the money, it does what’s needed🙂👍🏻
Great video, thanks. I regret buying the Beamswork light. It's way too bright. I have to put a cloth under it to dim it down. Next time I'll buy one that's adjustable.
Never tried them like hygger
Me too :-)
Hey thanks for the review I just ordered the same light and think it will be perfect for my tank!!
Touch pads on any aquarium equipment is bad. I find it won't work with wet hands.
Thanks! I will buy the Nicrew SlimLED
I have one Nicrew light. I'm not sure if mine is the same model. It's done pretty good for me.

Wow I was just going to order this light and you drop this , that’s why I am subscribed 😊
I just ordered two nicrew lights for my tanks.
Not happy with the beamworks I have on one of my tanks. Might have to give one of these a try.
Mine was 2 years old in April. It's starting to dim some and will need to be replaced soon I think. I can't complain for the price. It's been a good light.
Thank you for this review video 🖐👍it is very helpful to me.
my nicrew is over 3 years old now, all crusty due to the hardness of my water, but it still runs great
Mine fell in the tank, I dry it put back and still working
Thank you for light update Getting the right light is a nightmnare and I needed this help Your a star
Love my nicrew light. Mine is a timer built in as well right on the controller.
I have the Nicrew Aqualux and I think its a great light.
Also had mine for 2 years no issues
Great video. ~Gina Hetlage
Thanks for the video.... I have almost all nicrew. They are affordable for the fish room, Would love to get 2 Kessel for our show tank in the rec. room , when renovation is complete.
The Kessil lights are great for a show tank!
I've been looking at the finnix lights for a cheaper option. How do they compare to the 3 you mentioned here?
The Finnex run about $20 more. I consider them to be slightly higher quality, but the features are similar.
Hygger lights for the win!
That looks like a really good light however I run a Hyyger on my 55 gallon and I absolutely love it
I like them a lot too
Aquaneat Led Next c:
Great review video!! 👍👏
I have some Nicrew lights that are still going strong after three years of use. I like them a lot.
Awesome!
