Glasnevin is located in northern part of Dublin city. It is bounded to the south by the Royal Canal and Phibsborough ( • Phibsborough Buses | M... ); to the east by Drumcondra; to the north by Ballymun ( • Ballymun Buses | Septe... ); and to the west by Finglas ( • Finglas Buses | April ... ). The southern part of Glasnevin is where two main routes divide / meet. Heading north-west past Glasnevin cemetery is the Finglas road which eventually reaches Ashbourne ( • Ashbourne Buses | Octo... ) and Monaghan. The other road heads north to Ballymun, going around the original Glasnevin village. The village is centered on the old Ballymun Road, which is also home to the National Botanical Gardens.
The video starts on the Finglas Road, beside Glasnevin Cemetery. Not only is this road well served by the city bus routes to Finglas, but it is also served by Bus Eireann regional routes to Ashbourne and Navan. The video then loops around to Prospect Way where the Finglas Road meets Botanic Road. Heading north Botanic Road becomes St. Mobhi Road. This corridor is well served by the Ballymun bus routes. There is a quick detour into Glasnevin Village (which is only served by routes 83 and 83A), before crossing the River Tolka on St. Mobhi Road and reaching Griffith Avenue. In this area routes 11 and 13 join the Ballymun Road buses.
Griffith Avenue is also served by new orbital route N2, operated by Go-Ahead Ireland. This route was launched in September 2024 under Bus Connects Phase 6A. January 2025 is expected to see more Phase 6A changes with most of the Ballymun Road routes (4, 11, 13, 155) replaced by new routes.
