Having to live under a different identity sounds like what my paternal grandparents did coming over from Sweden 🇸🇪 To Ellis Island... I love her words.I got revenge. My family is the spark from the ashes... WOW
This brought me to tears. I was lucky enough to live and go to school in a Jewish neighbourhood in the 80's. I met several of my friends grandparents with tattoos on their arms. I learned of their lives in the camps, and was amazed at the courage, quiet strength and forgiveness these men and women had. I realized how lucky I was to meet these people, and to hear the stories and how they thrive.
so incredibly underrated! it’s so inspiring to see real life people who lived through something as awful as the holocaust and still find joy and thrive. thank you 🫶🫶
Several years ago my husband gave an old man who worked with him at a factory a ride home. I saw a small tattoo on his arm and I asked him about it. Tears welled up in his eyes and said that he had been in a prison camp in Germany. He was the only survivor from his family. He wasn't killed because he could still walk and work even though he was starving. He told me to never forget those who died and not let it happen again. I thought about him on October 7th. God have mercy on us all.
I'm from Poland and I must say that you are beautiful! My family helped Jews during the war and they received the title of Righteous Among the Nations (tytuł Sprawiedliwego Wśród Narodów Świata). This is the drop of blood in me that I am truly proud of! Warm greetings from Poland!
