Thanks so much for this excellent tutorial! A couple months ago, I asked you to cover the Murdich Minnow, and you care to do so now. How kind you are! Stay safe!
Allie... thank you so much for reaching out to me and commenting on the Murdich Minnow. When you asked this past spring I put the fly on my list of flies to tie (and would have had it done sooner if all my home improvement project this summer did not have to happen) with a note to let you know when it was going live. Then I could not find your a original email, go figure. I am very glad you like the video regardless that the stick on eye facing the camera went on a little crooked. I hope it helps you enjoy tying a few Murdich Minnows and more importantly fishing them. Be Well, - Ian Anderson
Thank you for the compliment, I am glad the video has helped. The Murdich Minnow is a fun fly to fish and can easily be modified for all sorts of fishing conditions and species. - Ian Anderson
New subscriber. Solid fly. Thanks for doing this. I just relocated to OK from the Rockies and look forward to hooking bass on this fly. Nice video production also. Thanks!!
Thank you for subscribing! The Murdich Minnow is a great fly for bass. Tie it in a Olive or Black color for various fishing conditions. Some with a little weight along the shank can help get it a little deeper if needed. Welcome to Warmwater Fly Fishing! - Ian Anderson
Craig, I am glad to hear you are enjoying the videos. If there is a particular fly or technique you would like to see a video on let me know. Thanks for the feedback- Ian Anderson
The answer depends on where in the water column you want to fish the fly. Floating line with a nylon leader (say 6 - 9 feet) will fish the fly just under the surface to about 5 - 6 inches deep. You can fish with a poly leader on a floating line to get the fly down more. You can also fish the Murdich Minnow on a short (3 foot) leader on a sink tip or full sink line. I generally like a 6 foot leader on floating line or a 3 - 4 foot leader with a poly leader. Both on a regular weight forward floating line. - Ian Anderson
Where are you located in Central Indiana? I'm a fly fisherman and tyer that grew up in Central Indiana, Alexandria, to be exact. I now live in Southeast Illinois.
Craig, I live just North of Indy, not too far from Alexandria. I fish the White river all the time. Have any good fishing in Southeast Illinois? - Ian Anderson
Mostly farm pond and a few streams. You have to take advantage of what you have. I used to live near Pipe creek. I know it enters the White river near Perkinsville, do you ever try that creek?
@@craigallen7321 I have not fished Pipe Creek but probably around the mouth of the creek. I have fished the White many times around Perkinsville. I will have to put Pipe creek on my list of places to try. - Ian Anderson
@@craigallen7321 We have a number of pits around central Indiana with Stripers and some with Muskie in them. Since I now have a boat I will be checking them out soon. - Ian Anderson
Great instruction and video. Thanks
You are welcome, thanks for the feedback! It is a wonderful bass streamer. - Ian Anderson

What leader/fly line rig do you use to fish this, sink tip fly line or a poly leader??
