Thats the issue, the county Development Authority GIVES AWAY millions of tax credits to big business every year while raising residential taxes with with a frontal increase on milage rate or artificially inflating property values. Former Cobb County Chairman Commissioner; Tim Lee admitted this during a meeting with business owners. Current Cobb County Commissioner Chairwoman, Lisa Cupid, husband owns a non profit that the county funds aprox $350,000.00 to annually. Also, after Tim Lee became the Chairman of the Commission, his wife was given position at MUST MINISTRIES earning six figures while Cobb authorized millions to MUST MINISTRIES. YEARS AGO,MUST ministries, refused disabled vets living on the street outside their shelter while housing people that came up to Cobb from Florida!! MUST MINISTRIES were publicly called out for it, but I doubt nothing has changed, the disabled, homeless vets are still living in the streets. One of the prominent Development Authority members, is publicly praised foe her veterans activities in Cobb, yet, the veterans are still homeless without a designated veterans shelter. WELCOME TO COBB COUNTY!

My parents still live in Cobb. They, along with some family, have over 20+ acres and the neighbors across the street (all same family) have 50 acres. They are about to 4-lane in front of their place. It’s sad to see it get so crazy down that way. I suppose they are sitting on a gold mine, but it’s not the place it used to be. And, I would think with all the political turmoil people would be wanting to move further away from people but what do I know.
To have that much land in Cobb is super rare and you're right, they are sitting on a gold mine. The growth in this area is incredible.
Didn't mean to sounds pessimistic. It's a nice area. I remember when Dallas and Hiram were woods. Lol.

in TX we have the same problem, Austin is a mess, 30 yrs. ago it was cheap, nice, etc, it's all gone, once growth comes it comes with a high price
What about taxes for retirees? Does Georgia tax incomes from pensions, IRA's, social security?

Buyer beware! My next door neighbor built up their land nearly 15 feet and intentionally pitched their storm water onto my property flooding my land, they built a retainer wall that partially collapsed during construction, when they put the wall back together they didn't install footers. Needless to say the wall will eventually fail, but the building officials ignored the photographs I emailed him and gave my neighbors approval to do all of this knowing while it was being constructed, it was not compliant with the Cobb county building codes. My neighbors builder is politically connected and they lawyers up with a law firm that represents Cobb County to defend the damaging construction. All of this happened while the building official, the neighbors and my commissioner, knew I was fighting cancer. My property is still flooding...I was told by a building inspector "lady you ain't from around here and the Building Official can do whatever he wants!" Obviously, that includes ignoring the law and building codes.
Yikes! That sounds like a law suit waiting to happen! I'm sorry that you're having to deal with that mess.
@@LivinginAtlanta yes, were in litogation....the county has taken sides with the neighbor!! Welcome to COBB COUNTY GA., where the municipal codes, which are the law don't apply to everyone. Out of state residents are not as welcomed as the County would have you to believe, I know a couple that moved back to Michigan because the county refused to enforce the construction codes and their property, as is mine, was being damaged. The husband was a lawyer, and the County wore even him, out trying to get the codes enforced.

Cobb and North Georgia is still full of the "good ole' boys" network and if you're not in it, well.........you're living it first hand. I've actually experienced this myself first hand and it was ugly.

Church? In what way do you mean? I will say this that we're right smack in the middle of 5he Bible belt and I cam promise you, that there's no shortage of churches in this area....of any religion. Lol

I wont say Cobb is not a nice place to live, however, the traffic is so terrible now, that even driving across the county can take over an hour during the ultra long rush hours that essentially keep you trapped in your house. The rent is no longer cheap as it used to be, and its almost Un-affordable unless you are making 6 figures or have govt assistance along with their agenda to move you into the county for their diversification plans. If you want to buy a home, well, that will be over 300 grand and any and all handy man specials that used to exist, have been purchased and demolished for either a parking lot or a million dollar neighborhood. The only decent days to get out and explore the county, are on Sudays, due to the endless traffic during the week. Id say, at this point, Cobb is essentially, full.
I challenge you to show me a metro city over 4MM people that doesn't have traffic issues. We have 6MM and growing faster that we can build infrastructure. But there's a reason (many to be exact) that so many people moving here, and they don't give a shit about traffic. It's all of our other freedoms that bring them here...😎

@@LivinginAtlanta maybe so....now. I got as far out of the Atlanta metro as I could. I got a good bit of land a nicer home and money left over after leaving Dunwoody.

@@LivinginAtlanta the Latin Kings gang members that were arrested not 5 miles from my house. The 3 times my car was broken into didn't put a fuzzy feeling in my heart either. Atlanta was a great place....no regard for any history but that's another conversation for another day...now it's pockets of nice surrounded by gangs and wannabe thugs. I don't care for the feeling of being surrounded by less than upstanding folks. I've got my mule (truly named Wilbur) and my 40 acres. I don't miss the city much. We go to a play or the symphony upon occasion and it just doesn't seem to have the same vibe any longer.
See a lot of videos lately on police corruption in Cobb county know anything about that
