In this video, we unbox and overview the brand new Godox SK400II Studio Flash Strobe. #godox #godoxsk400II #hypop
The Godox SK400II is a 400W monoblock studio flash strobe compatible with the Godox X1 triggering system. It supports the X1 and XPro 2.4GHz radio triggers by Godox, that come in Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Olympus / Panasonic and Sony variants.
The main difference between the Godox SK400 and the new SK400II is that it features an in-built receiver which means it works directly with an X1 or XPro trigger without the need of additional receivers
The main features include a recycle time of 0.1-1s and a flash duration of 1/2000-1/800s.
It can be used in conjunction with other Godox flashes with X1 compatibility including the TT350, TT600, TT685, V860II, AD200, AD360II, AD600 ranges, as well as the studio flashes QT and QS series.
It also features a Bowens mount and is suitable with all Bowens mount lighting modifiers including softboxes, snoots, barn doors, beauty dishes, umbrellas and more.

AT LAST Someone who has done a decent review on the Godox SK series .. Great Video answered all my questions .. Many thanks will be watching more of your videos
Can you do a tutorial on how to photograph with these lights?
so is it only a manual flash? it can't serve as a constant light source?
Jolly good show. Thanks for this unboxing session. Now I know how to fit my umbrella into the flash unit and that wasn’t obvious. Cheers.
Glad to help
Love my 3 light SK 400II setup! Get large soft boxes to further your range.
Can it be used outside? With a battery pack?
Angelo Haak: Yes. it can be used outside, had to buy better light stands. My Paul C. Buff Alien bees 800, fires the Godox lights. Also I am looking at the Paul C. Buff battery pack, for outdoor work. Flash on my Canon 70D fires the flash on the lights. I have to use a trigger (Yongnuo) for my Canon 5d MKII. I am very please with my setup
Does it work with TTL?
Sara Poli: YES, Sister. I use the Yongnuo 568EX II, 5 of them. Yongnuo YN622-TX ETTL, YN622C triggers with them. No problem. Alien Bees fires the Godox, and the Godox fires the Alien Bees.
BE ADVISED! Watch out buying from some companies in China! You may find loose screws and washers rattling inside the unit, WEAK stands that are not pictured when you buy. Other than that a really good set of lights with large soft boxes to extend your range. Look at Godox modifiers, I have the barn doors with gels, and others.
Do you have a in-depth use of the SK400ii? I cannot find much on it> Thank you
Great video! It was about time watching a video about the sk400ii. Great info! 👍
Thanks Edvin - we're glad you liked it!
Can I use this wireless for outside portaits?
Best tutorial for this machine, so simple and effective! Good job!
Glad you liked it!
Hello, I have the Godox SK 300 and I can't find a highspeed sync button. Does it have high speed sync
What stand is that?
Can I use this flash outdoors
Hello sir,I just purchased same model like you are demonstrating now. I want to know if the modelling light is really yellow? I mean the color is yellow? How can I change it to color white? Is it possible to change the modelling light to white?? Please looking forward for all of your expertise advice.. thank u,Philippines
Bought 2 of it and after switching it on the modelling lamp came on and went off(both lamps). What could be the problem
Does it have HSS ???
Well explained. You just got yourself a subscriber.
Thank you so much Imrul!
Hi. Can SK400ii support HSS? If yes, what trigger should I use?
Hi Marvin. Did you have any aswer by another side because I wonder the same. thx
@@pierreben4211 havent got any. Just want to buy x1 pro trigger to test it
@@marvinsalaveria7904 Great to get a feedback from you. Seems to work with Godox XT32 trigger (see a comment below)
@@marvinsalaveria7904 Seen on a french youtube video. HSS works with XPRO
@@pierreben4211 Can you share that video link please?
At 1/16 power are two of these too bright to light up a white backdrop for headshots? Or do I just have to mess with the f stop on the camera if it's too bright. I was thinking of ISO 100, 1/200 5.6 (I use an ad400 for main light).
At 1/16 power it would only be at about 25W of output so it shouldn't be too bright. Keeping your camera settings fixed for a studio shoot is typically advisable so you're on the right track with ISO 100, 1/200 (or faster such as 1/160) and f5.6 depending or smaller such as f8.0. From there just play with the output settings of the flash if you don't have a light meter.
What little stand for the flash did you use?
We're using the 43cm Spectrum Desk Stand
It works with battery to or just full power?
what lignt stand is that?
for my power output it reads from 6-10 but i would like it to display in fractions 1/16-1/1 how would i change that?
What trigger and receiver do I need for Nikon to use these? Have a great day!
Hi Richard, The Godox X2T or XPro works natively with the SK400II otherwise you can use other branded triggers however would need to plug the receiver into the sync port of the flash.
Is it compatible with the ad200
If i use a x1 trigger, what is the shutter speed i can go upto?
Hi… can we adjust the temperature of the modeling light? Not sure if it’s normal but mine is too warm, orangy.
You can change the E27 bulb to a temp that you want. It’s not changeable via settings however.
@@hypop thank you! love your channel!
hi great unboxing video thanks a lot... would you please tell me how to set the hss
Hi Salem, for more setup information, please refer to the Godox manual and support page. In future videos we will make sure to include more setup details for different modes and functions.
@@hypop Yeah, it would be great if you went the extra and showed how to sync the XT1 or the Pro to fire the flash...
good review. please how good is the triopo f1-200 as against visico 2 or even the much loved godox ad 200??
I’m wondering if you could help me. I’ve just bought the Godox SK400II and I have a Canon EOS M50 camera. I bought a cable to connect them but I still can’t seem to sync them? Do I need a specific setting in my camera to do this? Or do I just have the wrong type of camera? Thanks!
I Have Godox SK400 What is the use of usb of socket My Request can u plz clear the question
Hi, Could i attach a classic LED lamps on it? To use such a continuos light...or is a problem? Thanks a lot.
Hi dear . Thanks for the Review. At first time I used this strobe light it's continuous flashing 3 times after that the fuse breaks down. Can you help me what is the problem
Do sk400ii has battery or we have to connect it to AC ???
Following
What is the minnmus flash power on godox sk400ii it ehows 1/128 power on my trigger but not syncing with godox light my trigger is xt16
The minimum power is 1/16 so even if your trigger can go as low as 1/128 it will default to the flash capabilities.
What are the differences between this and 400pro godox? This one looks almost the same and significantly less.
Very informative video.. Sir does it comes in elinchrom mount also?
Does the x2T trigger work on this strobe?
Someone said yes somewhere in the comments
How can I order this flush?
Will it work with my Godox X2?
Thanks for the review. Great video.
Are you working on a battery for external photography?
For on-location photography we use the Godox Witstro series such as the AD200Pro, AD400Pro etc..
Hi, does it work with the godox trigger xt2 -canon? Thx,
Yes it does!
does it support rear curtain flash ?
There's no rear curtain flash
Is this wireless, or does it need to be powered through a cable like you had?
Wireless with godox triggers
Hi. New to the godox range and have just purchased the sk400ii. My question is do godox lights only fit godox speedrings as my pixapro one doesn’t fit. The 3 bits that normally click in don’t fit in to the light. There about 1mm to wide.
Most of Godox flashes are Bowens mount. Pixapro softboxes have Bowens variants so should suit. If it's slightly off (by 1mm) try using a different speed ring.
is it good for video??
Hi there, it only works for photos.
sir can we use s2 bracket for this
You won't need to use the S2 bracket as the SK400II already features a Bowens mount
Se puede usar en modo esclavo?
Yes, it can be used in Slave mode, either as an optical slave or used in Group configuration via the Godox X trigger system.
What trigger do I need to use with my YONGNUO speedlite YN560 III with the GODOX SK400III
Excellent video sir! I'm actually researching a "budget" studio flash system for my small studio space that's compatible with the Fuji X-T3. I'm considering this 3-light Godox kit, and a 2-light Interfit Honey Badger kit with 2 softboxes and a manual radio trigger. Can you tell me the advantages, if any, of this Godox kit, and if the Radio trigger is compatible with the Fujifilm X-System camera's hot shoe pin configuration? Thanks again!
Hello I have a Flashpoint ad200 and also a Godox V860ii with the Flashpoint R2Proii-Sony trigger. My question is will this monolight strobe work with the trigger I have? I know already that the Flashpoint is a rebrand of the Godox ecosystem but the R2Proii is a newer version of the trigger system, will it work with the SK400?
does this flash charge? like can i bring it outdoors without a power cable? or does it need like a battery pack?
Hey there royandescartes! The SK400II needs power from an external source, whether that be a power outlet or a larger battery pack which you will be able to find at many battery/electronics stores! It will not charge up to be used wirelessly though.
Thanks!
Which flash light you are using to record?
Well done. Thank you
I notice the umbrella hole in the reflector isn't lined up with the head, is this just the way you put it on - or it doesn't line up for umbrella use?
Hi there - we just didn't pay attention to the umbrella hole! It does line up, and they do work together - apologies!
will this run with the Nikon D500 camera with out getting additional gear?
Yep! All you will need is a trigger!
I just bought it and thought it would trigger with the xPro trigger. In fact it flash but how to change settings in the xPro?
Awesome unboxing. Needs caption for pause and play notes
Thanks for the feedback! We were already discussing looking into getting captions for our videos and this just confirms it!
Hypop x Spectrum | Photography Lighting & Equipment awesome! Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Keep it up
Hi Glenn, FYI we have included captions for your convenience. Kind Regards, HYPOP
is it possible to use this model with other godox flashes? let's say ad200 and 2 of these sk400II. I am using x1t trigger.
Hi Gia Ybanez! Yes, this is compatible with the AD200 using the X1 trigger system. As they have inbuilt receivers, you won't have any issues.
Bit confused now. Can you please suggest if I should go for AD200 or SK400 ii? How are they different?
Ad200 is a battery powered strobe. With ttl and hss which sk400 doesnt have. The only thing sk400 has over ad200 is the watt. 400watt to 200watt. Id go for the ad200 if i plan to shoot outdoor
Sir is there any godox trigger for non godox strobe lights..I want for photopro strobe lights....
You can plug Godox triggers into any brand strobe lights using a sync cable. You'll just need the trigger and receiver for it all to work.
Can I use it as a continuous light?
This is a flash only
Hi! Excellent video. Thank you! One question: Can the modeling light be changed from 150w to a 250w bulb that is available on online stores?
Yes, so long as it's an E27 bulb with the correct voltage support for your country it should be ok.
Excellent! the bulb is 220 - 240V and in my country we use 220V, so I believe probably the only problem would be the more heat the 250w bulb will produce, right?
BTW, have visited Hypop page and its very good, but the shipping cost for a bulb to my country is $111 via DHL. I know it's the safest method but maybe you should consider a less expensive method in the future too. Thanks again for your reply!
It is not working with the Godox trigger I have
alfredolunafoto How was the result with using s bulb with higher wattage? Could it handle an 8-hr day shoot?
@@verify95 Hi. To be honest I didn't purchase the bulb. But as far as I know the SK400II can only allow the modeling light to be on for a maximun of 10 minutes and then you have to let it cool down. Cheers
Good video... although, try not to block the lcd screen when you're explaining the button functions. couldn't see any changes to the settings on the screen. overall, good explanation of the functions.
if I use the flash at 50% of power what is the flash duration? I know that can go from 1/2000 to 1/800 of a sec but I'm not sure what is supposed to be the setting to get the fastest flash duration.. Is with the max power or minimum?
good review ... so good for the amount they cost
Totally agree with you. For the price and build quality, you can't go past the SK range. Godox are now releasing the new MS range which is almost an updated version of this. Keep an eye out for our review soon!
I bought the Flashpoint version of this (I think it's the same but with different brand name) and a Godox trigger... do I also need a Godox receiver for this to fire wirelessly?
Flashpoint is the rebranded version of Godox equipment in the US. So long as it's the X1 or XPro trigger with the 2.4GHz X wireless system it will work directly without the need of a receiver as it's built into the flash.
Does the Xpro transmitter works? Flash sync and change power output?
Yes, the XPro or X1 will work for changing settings like power output.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
what's the difference bitween qs and sk?
They're quite similar however the QSII has a better build quality and available in higher output flashes - 400W, 600W, 800W and 1200W versions. If all you need is 300W or 400W of output the SK400II is a great alternative as it has a fast recycle time of 1.0s at full output (compared to 1.5s of the QSII)
i use it in 1/8000 of a sec, and it work good, how come?
Which trigger do you use?
Hey how can I trigger sk 400ii with Nikon d 750? Do I need to buy godox reciever or it can work without buying any godox trigger?. I'm really confused
Hey Aniruddh - You do need to buy a Godox trigger to be able to fire the SK-400II. The built-in receiver in the Sk-400II works with Godox triggers, so you don't need to buy a receiver for the flash.
Which Godox trigger you suggest buying?
Is this portable?
No, this is mains powered only so you require access to a power outlet.
helo, can both the lights be used with different powers at the same time? because i want to use one light as key light with more power and other as a fill light with less power so is it possible?
Hi there Shahzad - You can definitely change the power output of this light to use one as a key light and another as the fill light
Hypop | Photography Lighting & Equipment thanku for the response 😊
I bought sk300ii, does it really doesn't come with Bowens reflector?
The SK400II series should all come with the standard metal Bowens reflector.
which stand is it ?
plz give us a link
How did you bring that flash output back to 1/16?
Mine was stuck in that 6-10.0 i dont know how to bring itback
Flashpoint 400 R2 is the same thing?
Yes, based on photos it looks like the Flashpoint 400 R2 is a rebadged Godox SK400II.
Can you use it for shooting bursts at 10fps?
At lower outputs it should do fine at 10fps, however at the full 400W output it has a 1 second recycle time.
How will it work with Fuji XT3?
You'll need to use either the Godox XPro-F, X1T-F or X2T-F triggers for Fujifilm
It's safe if use ups for Power when used Outdoor
Following
What is the maximum softbox size we can use with this strobe?
Did u find an answer? I don't think there's a problem or a limit 🤔
Hello Hypop,Does Yongnuo Yn560Tx wirelss trigger work with Godox Sk400ll ? Or if Godox difference wireless trigger? I am planing to buy Godox Sk400ll soon, i need you help befor i make a mistake Thanks hope to hear from your guys..
I use a Yongnup622C, and a Godox FT 16 wireless flash control. No problem.
Hi I have 3 of these lights and I quite like them at the moment.Thing is 2 of them display the power outputs in 1/16 - 1/1 the other one shows 6.0 - 10.0. It's not the end of the world but I can't seem to find info on how to make them uniform ie all three showing it as 1/16- 1/1 or as 6.0-10.0 anybody have an idea, it really would be most useful. many thanks
Can this be used outdoors like a park or beach?
The SK400II needs to be plugged into AC Power for operation, so it can't be used outdoors without some sort of external power supply that has an AC Plug.
Hope that helps!
@@hypop which ones can you use outdoors then without power supply?
Hi does it support High speed sync ?
No HSS however a flash duration between 1/2000-1/800s.
@@hypop Do you mean to say, If my camera have HSS compatibility, will I be able to set the shutter speed at 1/2000 using this flash?
Do I need to purchase the one for my countries operating voltage or can it be used from 100-240v as amazon says?
It has a 100-240V voltage range. Just be sure to receive the correct plug for your country
Hi is there any major difference between sk300ii vs SK 400 ii
just 100 watt power difference
😂😂
What stand should you buy for this light?
You can use any stand with a spigot attachment on top! We recommend using a Heavy Duty 2.6m Light Stand though, as when mounted with the light and modifiers it can tend to be quite heavy.
Can it use any trigger? 👍🏻
I use a Yongnuo trigger system, when using a Canon 5D MKII. My 3 light setup came with a Godox FT-16wireles flash trigger. Also any camera with built in flash will trigger the light. In my case a Canon 70D
Tanks you very much. Very helpful
Hi sir, what are the different between QS-400II and SK-400ll ??
The main difference is the output range of the QS-400II being larger from 1/32 - 1/1 compared to the SK400II being from 1/16 - 1/1. Also the recycle time of the QS400II is faster at full output (1/1) being 1.5s compared to the 3.0s of the SK400II. The SK400II is however a very cost effective entry level flash into the Godox X wireless system and weighs about 1.2kg less than the QS400II.
@@hypop it's actually 1/16 to 1/1 Power Range for SK400II
@@photovideooz4084 Ah yes! You are correct! Apologies for that.
can it work with trigger from different brand like King pro
The SK400II will work with third party triggers via the 3.5mm sync port on the back of the flash
can we control this strobe using other than x1t and xpro like godox speedlite tt685?
chaser 4 chubs yes
When I change power on my XPro, it doesn't change the power on my SK400II. Can anyone assist?
Try resetting your trigger to factory default (two middle buttons RST mode) and also try updating to the latest firmware if not already.

Hi, can i directly from my canon 70d trigger?
Yes, you can connect directly with your Canon 70D with either a PC Sync Cable or one of Godox's X wireless triggers including the X1T-C or XPro-C.
no, i mean directly trigger it with canon 70d without separate triggers. Like i can wireless trigger my flash with camera
No you will require a PC sync cable or a wireless trigger. It doesn't communicate with the Canon 70D directly.
thanks, can you suggest any cheap but good one? or godox with pc sync cord, as i noticed they are just with usb and i can not use it with other flashes
The SK400II also has a 3.5mm Sync jack so any PC sync cable with a 3.5mm input will suit. Try eBay.
