I worked the Railroad, the cars we handled contained Clay slurry, it's used in the production of paper, this sloppy white goop ran down the middle sides by the ladders, it is dense and heavy. I wonder how much actually got inside. Man it's a sight to see as fully loaded, 5 or more loaded tanks coupled together, released during hump yard ops, can slam into and drive a line of cars way down the yard tracks.

I liked the use of Titanium White Pan Pastel for fading. Ran out and bought some right away after I saw the video for the first time. This car is nicely done.

Nice job Andy; surprised to see the one I voted for. I have few kaolin cars to weather, eventually 😊 and that same Englehard car. Now I have a technique to follow. Thanks. Anthony.

Well done again!! I should have looked before asking for a Tank Weathering Video. 😳
I wish I knew about this contest... I'm subbed to Ron Marsh, but completely missed it. 😖

I still haven't tried Pan Pastels. Just can't afford it at this time... But I look forward to trying it.

Carmine - I've used cheap chalks and alcohol as "imitation pan pastels" ....you've given me an idea for my next video!!! Thank you!!!

    • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks

Cheap Chalks and Alcohol?? 😳 NEVER thought of that! I was going to try to figure out how to make Pan Pastels... I figured that Google HAD to give up the secret somewhere. 😉
I've been Weathering for a long time (35+ years),and the advice I often give newcomers is: ALWAYS keep an open mind. I'm almost 56, and I'm certain that I'm not done learning!!
I'm looking forward to catching that Video when you do it. If I'm not Subbed yet, I'll go do that now! 😉
And if you also get a Sub from "PacbeltRR"... That's also me. It's a Channel I started for my Freelance Railroad, the Pacific Belt, since 1975! 😊
Don't have any Videos yet on it.... I haven't touched my Layout since 2015... Just couldn't afford to do ANYTHING. 💔😢
I've recently been re-inspired to get back and try to do something.... I'm a Disabled Veteran, and absolutely DON'T have the kind of money for what Model Railroading has become. 😖😞
It doesn't help that I'm insistent on DCC/Sound, and Keep-Alive in EVERYTHING.....
Completely hooked after the first installation!!!
DCC in 04, Sound in 07, and Keep-Alive in 11...
NO POSSIBLE WAY I could go back! I ran an 0-4-0 Tank, through a #8 Turnout, at speed step TWO! It might have been better than my first kiss over 40 years ago!!! 😳
So absolutely NO, I can't afford it. But I'll try... I got some generous donations of equipment and in PayPal. I'm still blown away by the MRR Community!!
I've got enough Track down to run a short Train or two. Just gotta convince myself that I can't just dive in like I used to...
Sorry if all that was TMI... I've been watching Videos and getting excited!

Did you moisten the weathering powders when you applied?

    • @AndyDorsch
      @AndyDorsch  2 роки тому

No - Applied it dry then sealed it with a flat finish. Like dullcoat or a flat lacquer.
