Yeah he 'gets it'. And once you got it, you get out. Or you stay in as a pet and get paid to act you like you don't get it, but your soul pays a certain price for that.
Glad to see him again. He was great in his role as Griffith in the 1996-2000 CBS TV Show show "Cosby" alongside Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, and Madeline Kahn.
This gentleman is extremely articulate and seem to be in total control of his life’s trajectory. Black men like these need to be highlighted. So they can serve as a role model for our young misguided black men. But I guess this is all orchestrated. Believe me…ITS NO COINCIDENCE!!!!
You see anyone else disrespecting their women and getting promoted to do it? Quiet as it's kept? There a good few women on the payroll too. But you ain't heard that from me.
Peace. Good to see brotha Doug after a min and listen to him articulate his thoughts, insight and wisdom. Very dope interview. Thanks comedy hype and keep on keeping on brotha Doug! Fo sho.
Brilliant! 👍🏾 A lot of us are, but no one wants to be still/humble to listen to wisdom. Too busy being invested in celebrity worship and individualism.
I remember watching Doug E. Doug’s show “Where I Live”(his characters name was Douglas St. Martin) in 1993(I was 4yrs old) with my older brother, then years later I of course saw the classic Kid & Play movie “Class Act” & Doug E. Doug was forever stamped in my memory as Popsicle. (Of course I saw the amazing movie Cool Runnings) I still find myself still quoting this movie ”Class Act” from time to time(this movie was/is extremely quotable) "Uncle Theopolis! It's Popsicle! Go get your hearing aid! What you can't find your hearing aid? Get a cup. Put a cup to the phone..." "You not my man. You not my man,you a genius. I can't believe that I was hanging out with a genius, man. I'm a throw up. I'm a throw up nasty chicken wings,n' corn oils, and cream of wheats. I’m gettin’ sick just thinkin' about throwing up." yo, yo, yo, my man. I know you're not sitting in my favorite seat. So, move. Move, dope. Hey, homeperm. I know you're not sitting in my second-favorite seat. But i thought you said-- shut up. Yo, give me some ducats, loot, cash, dough, cabbage, green. You want me to pay you to sit here? Are you crazy? Of course i'm crazy! You got me all wrong, spongecake head. I want you to pay me for the privilege for you not to sit there on the floor. Just save it, man. Save the money, buy yourself some new kicks, 'cause my three sons joints you got is whack. Well, since i will be harassing you the entire semester, you should know my name. How you doing? My name's popsicle. Cheerio. Ha ha. Why do they call you popsicle? Wedge says 'cause i'm cool, but sloppy. I don't agree. What's a wedge? That's a wedge. Doug E. Doug left on his own terms, with his soul(& holes) intact & he remained honorable.
Thank you . For such a honest interview . Sometimes I want to act but I just don’t think I wanna go through certain things . It’s easy to walk with ya eyes close when your dreams are coming true .
Great interview! Everyone is curious about fame & the entertainment business. Doug did a great job of keeping it real, giving folks reality, & not speaking too outta school. But the intelligence or subtlety he brought to the interview was brilliant!
Excellent interview. I kept wanting to pause it to return to it later it because I had other things I needed to do, but couldn't because Doug E. was just so interesting and refreshing to listen to.
E a s i l y watched the entire interview. Mr. Davis, what an astoundingly REAL conversation. You revealed s o much truth throughout. Relevance and v e r y well spoken, Mr. Davis!
Terrific interview and perspective from the guest as a successful man enlightening; I enjoyed his restraint. The conversation is insightful. Enjoyed the interview!
Mane DOUG E.DOUG I always wondered what happened to my brother he was one of the most funny guys on TV and movies 🎥 back in the day. I haven't seen him since 8 legged freaks loved this guy.💪💯💖
WOW!!! What he says about people being around being surreptitious and planning to hurt you; is so true. I've dealt with people like that. I'm glad I had those experiences because without them - I wouldn't have learned about the nature of people and been prepared for dealings in the future. It made me better. Like he said - You don't see with your eyes; you see with your mind.
I love how he gave more examples of people who walked away from the industry than just Dave. I think it gives more proper context to the conversation. ❤️
Saw the 12 min version, gotta come back for the full interview. Lots of 💎 💎 💎 💎 💎 💎 💎 💎. PEACE _ GREAT INTERVIEW 👍🏾 👌🏿 👏🏾. Nothing wrong with being normal and humble.
Wonderful interview. So glad to see him. We were more than just the hip hop era, we were a blueprint. The heroin to cocaine to crack to pills to opioids to everything era ruined so much.
Another great and powerful interview. I've always noticed how He managed to keep an untarnished reputation. And have watched his career. Gotta watch this interview twice. 🎼✨🖤
I don’t know anything about Doug but must say, very intelligent man. This interview gave us a full inside about his career and the interviewer knew when to drop questions.

John. This is one of your best interviews to date. The way you were able to ask the questions that mean something and Doug giving us just enough so we understand exactly what he means. Great interview John!!

I believe him having a strong family structure with his mother and father in the household has a lot to do with his integrity and unwillingness to be exploited, they weren't rich but they also weren't poor. The industry loves these desperate brothers from broken households who are willing to do anything to come up, the same way pimps and sexual predators approach there victims. Guys like Doug won't put up with the BS because they understand that they don't have to. I always rocked with Doug E.
