      Yes. These are by far the best reviews in UA-cam hands down. No bullshit, no gimmicks, she knows what she is doing. I love the fact that not only do they share their hands-on experience, but that they actually go the extra mile and research the hardware online and if they find people complain about something in particular they mention it in the review. Great work!

      Aravind Krishna most people don't want this level of detail, just an ad or two will steer them when making a purchase, and this includes the UA-cam videos that are pretty much just ads disguising as reviews... If you want to get views on your channel, be as subjective as possible.

Your videos are so good and presented in such a way that covers a wide range of topics to make an informative purchase. I am thinking to buy, just devided on surface book 2 or dell xps 13. I am inclined towards this though, but just a steep price point. I tried to see this retail stores in London, none have them on display, sadly.

    • @zwrk
      @zwrk 6 років тому

      I had four Surface Pro 2017 and returned them because of display light bleed, then I waited for Surface Book 2 but the configuration I want costs 1000 eur more than I got X1 Yoga for (with the same specs except graphic card obviously which I do not need). Also I had Lenovo laptops for over 10 years and they have been working great, no issues with any of them. I lost all enthusiasm I had about Surface line.. also they come with 1 year warranty while X1 line comes standard with 3 years. That tells you something.

    • @abidnisar7083
      @abidnisar7083 6 років тому

      makes a lot of sense. You made up my mind, Yoga it is. Should i wait for the prices to drop, or does it remain the same for good couple of months, as i am in no hurry as i use a surface pro at the moment

  • @KingRockets
    @KingRockets 6 років тому +13

    Great review. The headphone jack has a contant popping/clicking sound that is always audible, unless playing music which drowns it out, but otherwise you can always hear it. Many users have commented on this and Lenovo has yet to address it.

    • @orenda3696
      @orenda3696 6 років тому

      KingRockets that's why I have a small portable DAC (Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS); it cleans the sound and does some justice to decent headphones and my music.
      Onboard DAC in laptops are generally designed / spec'd to just "work" and that's it. At best they're shielded from interference, but I've yet to hear an onboard DAC that produces really clean sound that makes any effort towards high fidelity.

    I had a soda explode in my backpack a week after I bought my x1 carbon. It was doused with diet coke for well over an hour while in low power mode. In a panic I basically did everything wrong, including turning it on, plugging it in, and keeping the battery in. It made some internal beeping noises, went into safe mode, then...booted up like nothing happened. I heard some sizzling coming from what looked to be the SSD, and 10 minutes later it shut off for good. I disconnected the battery and threw the entire computer in a bag of rice for a few days. Cleaned it out and it's been fine ever since. The only lasting damage to this day is that the usb C charging port is fried, most likely from when I plugged in the computer while it was still wet. Thankfully, Lonovo has redundancy built into the design, so the thunderbolt 3 port works just fine as a charging point. Overall, I am very happy with my decision to purchase this laptop, it is almost idiot-proof. Thank you for your content, you saved me potentially thousands of dollars.

    I recently got the Lenovo Yoga 920 Glass with a Star Wars limited edition artwork and it is amazing. The gorilla glass is a joy to swipe on and cleans very good. It is on both sides of the laptop. The battery life has been amazing and charges crazy fast. Drawing on it is way better then expected too! I calibrated the display and it works very well for Lightroom work. I went with this over the X1 Yoga because of price, battery and looks. Yoga 920 has a 70 Whr and the X1 is only 54. Plus the Yoga is sexy and the X1 just looks like another Thinkpad. The 920 looks like a expensive device but with the X1 no one would have a clue it is an amazing laptop too.

    Lisa could you please review the Thinkpad T480s with integrated MX150? I'm on the verge to buy the i7 version with 512 SSD and 16 gb RAM!

    Is it true that the 2560 x 1440 display resolution results in a smaller "look" for everything that's on the screen if doing business productivity type work? That prolly works great for movie streaming or photo editing, but for workaday tasks with older eyes, should I instead consider the 1920 x 1080 display? Thanks in advance~

      Mick Abraham depends on scaling. You can set it how you want in Win 10

    Thanks for the review! But you could have mentioned that you can't get the IR camera (you would need for Windows Hello) with the HDR Display (does not bother me) and that the LTE module is not available yet. Even worse, they don't even install the WWAN antennas in the top model, although they advertise the X1C with beeing LTE capable (although they state at some point, that the WWAN module will be available in April). I am sending mine back next week because I need LTE, and that $2.5k laptop isn't even "WWAN ready", meaning you can't simply add the WWAN module later on, as there are not antennas to connect it to.. :(

    Thanks for the review Lisa. For indoor use, would the 500-nit display be worth it? Is the color gamut the same as on the 300-nit display? Is the 300-nit display also HDR?

    I can't believe as a photographer, I finally desice to get this business laptop as my travel on the go photo / video editing laptop. Shame on Apple & XPS with thire dingle life. P3 color is kinda unnecessary to me as well. Great job, lenovo. If next year model will have full size sd card slot, or lighter for yoga x1, I will be so happy!!!

    Hey Lisa what would you do? Would you recommend getting the i7-8650 for the X1 Carbon 6th gen? Concerned about thermals and throlling. Was thinking about undervolting it and using higher grade thermal paste. What would you do?
