I picked up a 01 740i a month ago I’ve been fixing up and that phrase “It deserves to be mint” really describes how I feel about mine.

If this 750 had an Alpina 5.7 engine, I'd buy it. Then, you could afford an Alpina engine.
If it would have 5.7 it would be no brainer to pull engine out and install it mine..I wouldn’t need to go through this hassle

Is it not possible to rebore std. V12 and fit Alpina bits to it? I am sure that that's exactly what Alpina people have done at their factory.
U might only save £1k that way
@@The777Garage @The 777 Garage I just did some fact finding......... B12 5.7l (5.646l) - 86mm x 81mm (bore x stroke), 10.5:1 cr .............. e38 5.4l (5.379l) 85mm x 79mm (bore x stroke) 10.0:1 cr .........
I would do this. Get e38 5.4l oversized pistons +0.5mm for 230GBP each with piston rings fitted. (find part number on realoem) Use standard rods from your spare 5.4l....... Buy alpina crank.... If you do the maths, you end up with 5.581 liters displacement which is only 0.065l less. It's 1% capacity, that wouldn't be noticable in any way. Maybe 4bhp less :)
It might need slightly thicker head-gasket +0.5mm or something like that.
Keep alusil, provides better power (its a fact, significantely less blowby). It will cost additional 60GBP per cylinder for reboring. Has to be aluminium block specialist.
Let me know what you think....
But you can complete engine bottom for like 3600GBP + crankshaft from alpina, or get custom crankshaft and use standard e38 pistons + more stroke.
Why not, have fun. That way it would only cost you the crankshaft in your case.

Why are you selling yourself short and going with the 5.7L engine, instead of the 6.0L engine from Alpina? You probably would save even more money if you went with Racing Dynamics' R60 V12 engine modification that actually increases the standard 5.4L displacement to 6.1L.
