24 Hours in Ronda, Spain

The McKenzies check out the spectacular view often seen on screensavers - the Puento Neuvo (New Bridge) that spans Guadalevin River gorge that splits the city of Ronda. We get caught on a forbidden trail and take in the first ever bullring.

I thought I saw olive groves in the background. A bit of reading found that they make chocolate there. Orson Wells and Ernest Hemingway spent time there. In fact, a fictional scene from "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is taken from an event he saw in Ronda during the Spanish Civil War. The place goes back to the Neolithic period. Did you find the caves with ancient carvings?

We were there January 29th. I can’t say if the trail is still closed. It wasn’t apparent why since the path was clear and in good condition.
