This game really put the "survival" and "horror" back in survival horror. And started a whole new direction for Resident Evil. I haven't been genuinely unnerved by a game like that in a long time.
Resident Evil 7 is probably one of the most scariest games I've ever played it took me so long to finish it. I would restart it all the time. Love your videos, dude!
I enjoyed this game soooo much. I got the Japanese version just so I could 100% it twice. Fugg, it was a good game, and just as fun the second time through. I think I finished both copies within like a couple of months due to having to wait for the Japanese copy to ship, so man it must have been rough for the completionist too not do it for 7 years.
I Remember playing this game multiple times and was getting used to the scares……then I played Madhouse for the first time and absolutely shit myself when I encounter Jack for the first time and he put his crocs on sports mode.
I love how RE7 went with the more modern horror aesthetic of a creepy deformed family in a house (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, House of 1000 Corpses), then RE8 went with a classic horror aesthetic (using vampires, ghosts, mad scientists). It's a great run through of the genre.
Yeah, I'm Absolutely NOT a fan of *The Texas Chainsaw Massacre* franchise, *The Hills Have Eyes* franchise and *The House of 1000 Corpses* film, but I do love Vampires, Ghosts and Mad Scientists.
Resident Evil 7 is seriously one of my favorite games of the last decade! And all the dlc it has is so much fun, I've done so many Ethan Must Die runs I've lost count at this point lol
A lot of Louisiana kinda just feels like horror. It’s part how media keeps portraying it, and also how Louisiana portrays itself. If you go to New Orleans there are graveyard tours (because their graveyards are awesome). They lean into the spooky aspect.
This game was a great time and full of some scary moments, though the final parts of the game did get a bit long. Also, your LP with Scary Games Squad is a fun must watch!
Zero mention of Ethan Must Die which is a big reason why I clicked in the first place. That's the one DLC mode I didn't even bother to mess with beyond a couple pathetic attempts
Awesome vid!!! So happy you did RE7. I have also completed this game and gotten all in game rewards. 21 took my enjoyment of life away. But Jacks 55th Birthday was so goofy and fun that I still go back and play that every once in a while. Also, Night Terror, Ethan Must Die, and End Of Zoe are all blasts.
Man, your completionist aspect remains unique, a valid and useful way to look at games, but by valuing completion of aspects more really brings a unique take to things. Also, by now you’re simply massive experience with all things truly puts you unique position.
Resident Evil has always been a franchise I've enjoyed watching from afar. I've only played a couple of titles from it, RE4 and 5, but what I played certainly kept my attention. I've considered giving the newer stuff a try at some point, though I personally enjoy the 3rd person camera much more than a first person view, for these kinds of games. RE7 definitely seems to have the creepy factor going for it, along with plenty of other things, so it certainly sits on my ever growing list of "Gotta try that one at some point" games. All that said, great episode, Jirard, definitely looking forward to the next one, and good to see the intro back.
Glad you’re still posting. Lots of people online thirsting and starving for drama and somewhere to direct any sort of emotions their lives sorely lack will lambast you and take any opportunity to hound you and remind you of how terrible the internet told them to feel about you. But nobody really knows anything about anything. Your job is to entertain and your videos do that. Unless you did something with evil intentions it isn’t the internets place to attack you. Your situation seems like it was a massive blunder yes, but not out of cruel intent. Therefore it’s nobodies business but your own and you remedied your mistake and that’s that.
A lot of gaming UA-cam channels got special videos like that just before the game dropped. If I recall, they were limited view and erased after a full watch or two. They were an urban legend the first couple hours they were in the wild until folks were able to get digital copies made.
I think my favorite thing about RE7 is how clunky it feels. Granted, I never actually played it, having only watched other people play it, but it was awesome to see this new character who pretty much never handled a firearm before do so. I feel like it added to the tension as not only were you locked in the first-person perspective, limiting how much info you know, but you also had to deal with your character fumbling with their firearm. I thought it was a really neat touch.
As much as i love RE7, i only did two runs before putting it down after some dlc. Its cool to experience once or two due to the clusterphoibc feeling it gives you. Not so much for multiple runs. I think Re8 did a fantastic job fixing that "problem" for lack of a better word
I have yet to play this particular RE game. I had been focusing on the re-makes, but now I may have to visit this entry. Maybe during the Halloween season.
I missed out a lot on the Resident Evil series in the past but Resident Evil VII was the first one I checked and really enjoyed. Well, I still haven't played it yet (I do have it) but have previously seen many UA-camrs' playthroughs and I eventually got it.
Resident Evil is a series where I loved the 1st game loads and wanted to love the rest. But I can not handle games where I'm being stalked. I do, however, love watching people play them. Great series in that aspect.
RE7 was the biggest breath of fresh air I have seen in reviving a long standing, staled out series. Say what you will about enjoying 5, but I didn't. The RE engine is probably my favorite game engine being used. With each release with Village and 2,3 and 4 remakes it keeps looking better and better. Might be beating a dead horse, but would pove to see RE 1 be re-released with it, optional 1st person.
Was not a fan of the 1st person perspective when i started RE7 (was overjoyed when RE8's gold edition came out with 3rd person perspective). However, i ended up enjoying RE7 when i reached the end. Good to see this.
I really couldn't enjoy the first Resident Evil Games with the Tank Control. 4 made me finally start liking the Series way more. 5 and 6 where okay but always had to live up to 4. But 7 oh boy. While sometimes i don't like when they change a established Gameplay of a Series. I really love 7 and 8. Such great Games. Hope they continue this in the Future^^

That being said, as much as I like RE7, I'm glad Capcom is shifting more towards it's main cast and experiencing how the REmakes are increasingly made with more of a sense of horror and dread added to them. This design choice shows that RE7 was a necessary course correction. RE7 is also one of the games that went all in on DLC. I like a fair bit of it too. Chris and Joe Baker's campaigns are both pretty engaging, and tie up loose narrative ends.
