I'm all for old school kinda practices like manual blood pressures, but definitely keep an open mind with mechanical CPR devices. There has been lots of research surrounding manual vs mechanical CPR and mechanical CPR has shown to be superior in providing chest compressions. The device gives the same rate and depth each time...and it never gets tired…as long as there is an competent person behind it.
@@marcosbinda639 Corpuls CPR is leading. EMS in my whole state will switch from LUCAS to Corpuls CPR. I saw both in action and I think the Corpuls device is far superior.
Back in the ‘80s we had something like this, but it looked much more brutal. Where it contacted the chest, it had what looked like a metal brick that smashed down on the chest. It automatically paused for ventilator breaths. I don’t think we used it too much. The Lucas 2 is MUCH better!
We have used it and it works ok. It sometimes shifts during movements, so one needs to make sure the placement is still correct. In another department, we have the Autopulse. I prefer that instrument over the Thumper. We should be creating the Autopulse video soon.
Nice. Have you guys used it ? We trialed a similar device that used belts across the chest. They would tighten and release, providing chest compressions.
Sadly they can't. They're so old. They'd have to go back to the manufacturers, and would have to be updated there. There is no way to update those on our own basis. That's why machines like the Lucas, and the Autopulse are SO MUCH BETTER! I like the Autopulse the best! Zoll really makes good ACLS equipment!

We have the LUCAS 2 and have had a noticed far more frequent ROCS and survival to discharge since we added the LUCUS 2.
Corpuls CPR is leading the market these days.
isn't the LUCAS?

My question is for the Old thumpers or mechanical CPR devices can they be updated for the new 2010 CPR guidlines?

We have had this device for a long time. I am not sure the Lucas 2 existed.
It sounds like a fucking hammer for metal work.
My ribs hurt just watching it.
Shouldn't manual CPR be done while getting the mechanical CPR device ready?
Absolutely!
all the time spent getting the pt on the the lsb and preparing the device is time lost in keeping the pt's ccp elevated. CCR standards all the way..
Scary stuff
I guess I am the only one with a twisted imagination that can see this going horribly wrong in some real world situation?
