Exciting races? Ferrari and Schumi dominated. Championships decided in July/august. I was happy cause I'm a Ferrari fan, but don't tell me that those were exciting races. It's all about nostalgia.
2002 and 2004 Ferrari Dominated. In the other years we could see more teams fighting for the lead. Kimi was 2nd in 2003. Only 3 points behind Schumacher
Yes the v10s screamed, yes the cars looked good, but fucking no the races werent exciting lmao. The F2002 won 15 out of 17 races. How is that exciting?
@@ollijokinen1571 Are you fucking 12? If you even watched the races, (unlike everyone who comments these days) then youd know the races had PLENTY of fighting between drivers. You must be blind if you think modern f1 is more exciting. Jeez...
de_lutz imagine this engine with hybrid stuff on a 2019 chassis. I don’t think that it would be even drivable but if it was it would destroy everything.
MGU-K+2020 aero and tires would be sufficient. Adding a turbo and MGUH would just add more bulk and make it even longer and heavier than the current V6THs.
The V10 era was not only great because of the overtakes, the drama, the close-racing, refueling, strategies, the cars were also beautiful, and downforce was epic. The way this thing takes corners, if i look at current F1 cars, they slow more down and take those corners in an ugly, understeered way. When i see this beasts, it's if the corners are hardly there. So smooth and grippy! And better tyres. No Pirelli monopoly.
The 2017 cars make more power and are obliterating the all time lap records. The engines are reportedly capable of over 1000HP which the BMW V10 could not put out nor did the V10s have to last long. That being said the BMW Williams V10 car is one of my favourite ever cars, its a beautiful machine, everything about it is beautiful, even the engine itself is like looking at modern art, and its not some electric boosted frankenstein either. Though as a racing machine, the new cars make its performance look obsolete.
I believe new cars are capable of going very fast, but only for a few laps each stint. Driver indeed cannot push 100% because of the tyres and / or engine fuel consumption limitations.
You just can't win a title with most powerful yet unreliable engine .....it goes the same with McLaren Mercedes 2005 car ,one off the most powerful V10 on the grid that year but still lose to less powerful Renault ....
I suffer anxiety and i love cars since i was a kid, this year I try with meditation and it works it feels good and with an incredible internal peace but i feel it's mising "something".When i watch Races on TV or watch old F1,CART videos on UA-cam.That "something" is back
Watching Montoya’s hands in the first clip. It looks like the „automatic“ gearbox shifts down, but Montoya gives the „command“ how many gears it shifts down the next corner/next time he brakes.
I just noticed that too. On the first main straightaway, he taps the paddle 4 time before the hairpin turn, four gear downshift, then just once before the chicane, lifts and goes down a single gear. Good eyes!
Wasn't Montoya's choice of gear selection unusual? Like didn't he only use the left paddle and pull/push it for gear selection? The right just being for clutch operation? Or something along those lines?
Great selection of clips, shame that the aspect ratio has been altered, cutting out the bottom of the picture & possibly some from the top as well to make it into almost 16:9 widescreen as opposed to the 4:3 it was filmed in. I understand the desire for widescreen, but there are some things that you just shouldn’t mess with.
Just imagine wrestling one of these cars around Monaco, it must've been both the most exilerating and terrifying experience a driver can have. I went there once and sat up on the hill and the noise reverberating was just the most amazing thing you can imagine, absolutely unforgettable memories. Spa was pretty amazing too, you simply cannot understand how the cars can go through Eau Rouge as fast as they did, again it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Current F1 is a total snooze fest in comparison😴😴😩
If F1 can find a way to have V10's again but make them more efficient and BMW joins in again instead of screwing their drivers over using new aero rules packages as their scapegoat. They can win their championship.
I stopped watching F1 when they went to V6 engines. Part of the thrill in driving or watching a car is the sound. The passion, the art, the craftsmanship. All things that add to the experience. Remove that and what do you have? A vacuum cleaner?? V10 for the win.
Wish they used 2.5liter inline 5 and 3.0liter v10 same time racing around that track 18,000rpm Would be cool seeing a inline 5 as a f1 engine because they both have thst unbalanced note If they it bad then that would be cool
Cuando esas diabólicas creaciones se oían a kilómetros y kilómetros y te hacían apretar los dientes cuanto más revolucionadas iban y solo pensabas en: dale más dale más dale maaaaaaassssss
Probably the best ever F1 engine, but I still think the 1991 McLaren MP4/6 with the NA Honda V12 and the manual gearbox is the greatest pure F1 car ever. Current cars just bore me, they are massive, heavy and sound shit, even if they are faster.
@@pvincent8100 Must see those v10 engines performance with car upgrade of 2020 what result would be , Soft tires ,ectra soft ,drs ,Turbo etc etc lol i dont know but it must be scary😀
BMW engines went over 19000 rpm in Monza qualifying in 2002.
Those were the days, screaming v10s, beautiful looking cars, exciting races...

@@jonnyj. Everyone complained about how boring F1 was in those days. They are awesome when you compare them to the trash that is F1 today however.
Almost 18.700 RPM, insane!!!!! Considering it was 'just' 2002. That makes for a great sound as well ^^
Actually they were the first team whose cars that year went above 19,000 rpm.
Barney Ward
Jep, that was at Monza ;) 19.050 iirc. But I never saw those numbers on screen that year. (RTL5 poor mans F1 TV station)
Jejking Et maternelle à l'école primaire.
@victor Je ne sais pas qu'est-ce que tu dites :S
Jejking if you thought that was high, then say hello to 2006

@AK 28 the X2011 is a production car? I thought it was just a sim racing car
AK 28 it’s not even real it’s straight out of Grand Turismo lol
@AK 28 Who the fuck told you that X2011 is a real car? Dude come on lmao.
Imagine a Renault R25 on slicks at Bahrain... Oh wait...
Ohhh, I loved those times so much. No pretentious show, just speeed.
And also Williams fighting with Ferrari and McLaren. Ah those days...

Ok, you're joking right
nboy7 900hp not bad for an NA 3L V10....
Mate don't forget that there was no halo! (Obviously better for everyone)
They had the most powerful engine of the grid...
Matias Hayden but unreliable

Oh my, oh jeez. This sound, this car, and the whole atmoshpere were amazing.
I gotta say it. The FW24 was a BEAST.

Thanks was trying to figure this out, so it’s just a timing thing? And braking engages the auto downshift or something else?

Sir Frank Williams, RIP

Magny is goated
0:02 automatic upshift
I know I’m gonna get blasted for this but…
This sounds better than the F2004

Please can you do the same for the Williams FW23? Thank you

Why did 7 people diskile this? They must like the V6
Cómo va de fino el jodido BMW-Williams!
