I thought the title was just for amusement (and it I'd obviously amusing) but it turns out this might be the first ever video to actually have one simple trick!
yeah, why not adding a garmin display for stock watch while you are on a long flight leg. just don't mix up waypoint lines with stock value lines lol. so funny to see a sim designer going economics, he should be a first grade teacher as kids won't contradict such pre-basic theories. i hope we don't lose Austin gambling his pension on stocks rather on working out x-plane 12-30.
@@piloto_loco Jokes aside, time in the market is more powerful than trying to time the market. I heard that from JLL Collins, and pretty much jives well with what Austin's video is about.
@@GeorgeRon you don't need to be Buffet to know these basics. the funny point here is Austin leaving his domain of flight modelling for telling the world the rules of the stock market. Secretly he is aiming for Elon Musk's geniality, i am pretty sure he got inspired by Elon's mastermind and the way he plays with the stock market, now on shaking up twitter corp. check it out, no day he doesn't mention tesla or Elon. Sure, you gotta like Austin for his personality, but don't take his stuff as dome of wisdom. He is just bored. And don't take my comments for serious either, just having fun seeing this.
Bitcoin alone has gone up 40,399% in the last 9 years Lmfao. You folks really need to do some serious homework on crypto. Also - you can buy crypto stable coins which are pegged and backed by the US dollar (USDC) and earn between 7.5% - 20% yearly interest thus minimising risk. Love XPlane btw!
This video is for future-looking investments, not past-looking investments. The fact that btc started from zero 9 years ago does not mean it will go up 41k%in the next 9 years. In fact, it won't. You're valuing Manhattan real-estate appreciation here by starting it off as being traded for beads.
Yes! Future investments and currencies will be digital. Whether it’s decentralised crypto or highly centralised CBDCs which major economies are now developing (US, China is already testing). There are many, many cryptocurrencies that have risen substantially over the last decade. Look at Ethereum, second largest crypto after Bitcoin, it’s risen 364,277% since it’s release in 2015. In contrast to Bitcoin, ETH has utility, the entire NFT space runs on its blockchain! 100s of cryptocurrencies are technology companies, developing the future of finance, and that’s a conservative estimate. It’s a 2 trillion dollar market!
This investment stuff always sounds so simple and obvious when you hear people talking about it, like "200 years of history, you cant go wrong!" Then why doesent litterly everyone just invest all their money into QQQ? (or stocks in general) Cant be such a new revolutionary idea? I have no clue about this stuff but it always sounds like gamblers trying too distinguish themselves from people that just go to casinos...
Everyone tries for the 'hot stock' to get easy money right NOW. Everybody thinks they can beat the system. Just like you find people in line at the quickie-mart trying to pick the perfect number for their lottery ticket. Better to invest wisely. Decades of experience prove it.
@@austinmeyer I noticed that some of the previews of the next gen are titled ´´preview one´´. does that mean that there will be a ´´preview two´´ to the update?
@@austinmeyer Bitcoin was down 84% from Dec 2017 to Dec 2018, and down more than 50% many other times, so it's not uncommon to see bubbles pop. I'll keep dollar cost averaging though
For me, quality rental real estate is a good alternative long term investment option. Probably a little less than Index funds but has a feel-good factor putting a roof over someone’s family.
10 years is a long start… I could agree with you on any other currency but BTC is not a currency it’s a digitized monetary system replacing the current central banks issued currencies.
"OK I click-baited you. Fine. Maybe I'll Rick-Roll you next."
Can't wait for the surprise X-Plane update on April 1st!
The stock market is a simple mechanism of separating wealth from the impatient.
Was very happy to see a new upload. Thanks Austin
Awesome Austin, amazing content
Loved this video, the only part that may be a bit out of date is the 2% inflation number.
Bitcoin 2% ? I’m not understanding you, Austin. My long-term (seven year) experience has been more like 4,954%... in USD terms.
Btw. I love X-Plane.
And now, BTC down 65%.
Index funds?
Not so much.
There... that's what I meant!
Wish you added REIT’s and Dollar Cost Averaging to this comparison. Great video though.

TL,DW: Invest your money in index funds / ETF's, buy a cat and take a cooking course.
Yup!
That sound at 18.20 😢
Index funds are a no brainer for a person not in a rush to make money and just let it grow
Nice. This should be a module in X-plane 12.

Vanguard Admiral shares, many funds.04% expense, excellent performers within peers.
not bad expense ratio if that is 0.04%!
Looking forward to the video about bitcoin.

I like QQQ. I guess people are using RobinHood these days to buy stocks and funds...
The video has good advice for the masses but seems to go against your VC claims near the beginning.
