This quickly became one of my favorite songs, if not my favorite song by Charles.
I have a friend struggling with the trials that have held him back from being able to live to his fullest potential. I felt as if he would appreciate the song. Even more so I was hoping he’d take away something positive like I did. So I played it for him. Later asking if he knew of the runner Prefontaine. Well oddly enough, my friends father gave him the nickname Prefontaine, because he was fast and gave heart. This song was what he needed to hear. I’ve almost given up, but it was those people who were strong and knew I was strong that gave me that extra push to survive! After all the trauma I’m still here and strengthened because of what I’ve been through!
May I add that anyone reading this, I hope you know your true worth, and you to realize you’re made of everything good. Please don’t believe the negative things you tell yourself, or hear from others. Because you’re made of greatness! Thank you Charles! This song changed my life.

I just got home from the Fairwell Festival in Redmond Oregon. I cannot believe Charles Wesley Godwin did not play this song in Prefontaine’s home state. The crowd would have loved it.
His lead guitar player is incredible.
As a 90’s kid that grew up in Oregon, when I first heard the Prefontaine reference I got a lump in my throat and thought how he had almost seemed like fiction growing up hearing my father or others I respected like Cameron Hanes talk about him. Great job on this outstanding piece and a great new artist added to my Spotify!
In high school (late 60s - early 70s me and my friends on the track team followed Pre like a rock star. Imagine stumbling across this song out of the blue and hearing that chorus! Killer tune and puts tears in my eyes. I’ve visited Marshfield HS, run Pre’s trail etc. still running. And this was a great intro to CWG, now one of my favorite artists.
Visited Oregon in 2019,beautiful place.I wish I was born in the US. At times I feel more connected there than the rest of the damned world I’ve visited
My 13 yr old son, a talented ski racer, broke his knee last week on a training run...5 days before his biggest race of the year. Needless to say his season is over and we have a long road of recovery ahead of us. Our family is heartbroken as he had worked so hard, been having an amazing season, and was posed to do very well at Qualifiers. I found this song by CWG and it has lifted our spirits and I play is every day multiple times for my son to hear. He'll be back Stronger....just like the song. The chorus is an awesome reminder to never give up and to keep pushing forward!!!

My brain is wired in such a way that I often process external stimuli in a visual manner. With music, despite it not having a physical form, I can still feel and see its shape in my mind. Lemme tell ya, I LOVE the shape of both Strong and CWG's voice. There are textures and nuances in his vocals that are beyond beautiful and unmatched by other artists.

This song would be entirely better if the artist didn't purposely try to utilize a drawl like most "country artists" attempt to do - it would be easier to make out the words and lyrics that accompany a rocking instrumental for the most part. Now I want some ribs...
