- Today on Superhero News, Sean Gerber discusses the latest on James Gunn. Disney wants to keep his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and may be interested in continuing to work with the director. If not, Warner Bros. is among the major studios who may go after him, perhaps for a DC Films project. The Joker origin movie is headed for an R rating. Lastly, Sean gives his take on the new popular films Oscar category, sure to be dominated by superheroes and Star Wars.

Yeah, except if he did Green Lantern, it'd probably be nothing like Guardians for the most part. Most of his earlier work isn't that much like Guardians really. He's been more of a horror director for most of his career, anyway.
The only superhero movie that derseved an nomination for best picture is The Dark Knight. I love the other superhero movies so much but that dosent mean they derseve the best picture nomination.
I might agree with you if the limit to the number of BP nominees had remained 5, but since the Academy has been able to nominate up to 10 films ever since then, there are a few other superhero movies that I feel should have made the cut. That said, TDK remains the most severe snub.

I’m a Marvel fan first, DC second but I do somehow agree with your comment. I wasn’t that crazy about GOTG and agree that Disney had every right to fire him. And yes people are acting like he’s the greatest director all of a sudden and I just call BS on this whole outrage at him being fired.
Agree. Snyder movies just need better writing. But I love the serious tone he brings.
