Hello, great video. I had some questions on your steel poles. Can you give me the dimensions (length, diameter, thickness)? How far did you have them spaced? Where did you source them? Thanks!
I’m planning a hop yard in MT and would like to compare the cost/benefit of metal vs wood poles. Local sourced wood poles are lodge pole pine, a very soft wood, treating them would eliminate organic certification. Hard wood poles from the East would be cost prohibitive. Metal might be a good alternative. Where did you source the metal poles, any other lessons learned would be appreciated
I sourced mine from a local farmer at $70 CAD per 22 foot wooden pole. You could save costs on concrete and stuff like they used if you use Square bolts to hold the wire at the crosses and then clamp it to the post similar to a traditional ginseng garden you can then regauge it and adjust.
Hello! Very nice video ... but do you have any information to share on some specific parts of the nice job you did? i.e.. the steel pillars, the fixation of the cable : have you added some parts, hooks, plates by yourself? Do you have draws or details to share on the tricky things that change everything? I live in France, in the Alpes mountains and we are kind of backward on small scale and organic hop growing issues! I would be very grateful if you could share a few things ;) Thanks
8 acres would be a huge farm. Do some research first to see what hops will grow in that area- (cooler, wetter climate with a shoter grow season) You won't see any real yields in your first year, and minimal in the second. If you have a university with an AG program near you, you might want to reach out to them to see if any research on hop farmiong that area has been done.
Awesome video! I don't know any more about growing hops but I loved the journey you shared.
Outstanding video! You folks are doing it right. Great to see the cover crops. Thank you.
Just watched this with my kids, as we just passed a hop farm - great way to see the process - well done. :-)
Fantastic video. Thank you! Greetings from Hungary.
Cool video! That looks like a nice big farm! Thanks for sharing.
Love this!

Also personally i'd never want put concrete into the soil in case i wanted to use the land for something else down the road.

so, I've got 8 acres near the Bay of Fundy, in NB. How profitable can growing hops be?

How long do you grow hops in the same place? Do they need to rotated out with other crops?
Interesting,Thxs.
Where did you get your poles from? Well done. Love the music. La, La, la...
Where did you get that yellow platform for the aerial rigging? I have a small hops farm and yet to find a good way to go up 20ft without a lift
we built it
How many square meters you think you need to be profitable in hop farming?
I would like to get hops rhizomes or Seeds for my home garden
What is the diameter and gauge of the pipe for the trellis you are using?
