The hopyard is still in operation although we have had to replace a few poles over the last 10 years. Other than that things are still in excellent shape. The plant distance varies by experiment and is 5' or 7' depending on the project.
The hop yard is still standing and in production. We have had the same problems with loosening cables and found the reason to be that the anchors were pulling out of the ground a little bit each year. Not all but some. We pulled the loosened ones out and dug a bigger hole and set the actors in concrete. We also found that the Tamarack polls that were used needed to be debarked and dry before using or they would rot much faster

Cable clamps were installed incorrectly. Remember the saying "Never saddle a dead horse"

UVMExt_NWCrop&Soils We found the same thing with anchors switched the loose ones to large concrete blocks suck into ground.
