  • Review of the 2022 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. They completely changed the design for the better and it uses the new Ryzen 6000 series cpu. It's a much better gaming laptop, finally has a webcam and the battery life is amazing. But it's not perfect and theres a few things to watch out for!

    I got the 2021 G14 for $1200 and on a no sales tax day on my state, it was an absolute steal. I feel like the 2022 version is going to have a decent price hike, so I'm glad I got mine when I did, but I have to admit the new model has a slightly cleaner looking design.

Here it says 6800S is 30-40% better than 3060, so 6700S can't be $400 better than 3060. Yes display is better on the newer one.

    Great review as always! I wish though that Asus would send more reviewers the model which will probably be more common - the 6900HS with 6700S GPU and 16(8+8)GB RAM - like the US Best Buy config. That's the one I'm interested to hear about. What's the performance difference between the 6700S and 6800S GPUs, I haven't seen any reviews on that so far. I get why companies want to send out their flagship configs, but at $2499 vs $1649, the model most reviewers are getting is not what most people will probably buy. But that's not on you - you did a great review as always! I guess I'll have to wait until more people get their hands on the cheaper 6700S model.

    I have the first generation with a GTX 1650 and Ryzen 4000 series and have been using it since I purchased it on release. This seems to cater to a lot of the improvements I would like to see in an upgrade. Notably the better screen as mine often seems flat and uninteresting if still decent, moving the speakers up to the top since mine got gunky after a while, and the improved bottom portion of the screen in both the contact to the table but also just the reduced bezel. The performance improvements interest me and I would like to game a bit better than my current 1650, but I share your concerns in the thermals department.

I really am looking forward for these G14 and G15 2022.. But it's just too expensive for my day to day needs.. which is business, travel, conferences, and sometimes gaming..

    is there a way to lower the power on the CPU? like if you would prioritize cooling, would it be possible to not run the cpu at maximum power to prioritize better thermals and if so is the gaming performance still playable? I think I would rather sacrifice abit of the performance and not have this thing run at the maximum than have it overheat too much

    I recently bought the 2022 version with the rx 6700s version for $1499 which only comes with 8gb ram on board and 8gb sodimm, but I bought a 32gig stick of ram for $170 and put it in the sodimm slot so now I have 40gigs of ram, which I need for virtualization. The problem with the temps were easy to solve, I just use manual mode to configure the cpu power and fan curve whenever doing anything intensive, and I use silent mode with turbo boost disabled (through some regedit tweaks) when doing light browsing or office tasks. Works well for me and is a beautiful laptop packing power in a small package.

  • @ronstewtsaw
    @ronstewtsaw 2 роки тому

    I got my full-spec dark grey (practically black) G14 last week. All I have done with it so far is turn it on, essentially. Already, though, I don't like the keyboard backlighting or the keyboard font. A lot more light bleeds around the keys than comes through the letters on the keys. The ROG gamer font on the keys takes getting used to - I find it distracting.
    Using a trackpad without buttons is a new experience for me, and I'll need to learn the tricks.
    And the two AMD stickers were poorly aligned. Which I wouldn't mention if Matthew didn't make a fuss about it.
