Fine ship breaking video. I'd like to see a passenger liner as it's broken up as well. Amazing that Indian ship yard workers are immune to exposure to fuel oil and asbestos. Damn, but these ships are huge.
Awesome video! Your knowledge of ships terms (and mechanics)is very good!! Alang is very clean and with sufficient cranes, it seems, compared to, say Chittagong etc. Cheers from Massachusetts.
Dude, that was a very very nice video. Seriously one of the best. I hope you will make some more exactly same videos. Please show some more details like the galley area crew accommodation etc. Best of all is thid video was in English. Keep up your excellent work.
19:06 this is the rudder position... This is one of my dreams to be able to walk on board of those ships in Alang or Aliaga... and I guess there must be kind of shops where you can buy all sort of stuff they took away from the boats.
Very Good video, do they re sell the engines and other valuable items, saw some stuff in tarps on the bridge, they could make as much money on selling used parts as the scrap steel alone...
Yes they do, the engines at times are dismantled for spares, or are used in industries. The other stuffs, such as safety boat etc gets sold to fisherman's etc as they make for nice fishing boat with some modification.
@@BuilditRideit How do you handle these big and heavy items like main engine which weigh several 100 tons? In a yard they use big portal cranes but on the beach without further heavy equipment? I always wondered 🤔
Very Good. Did you find (see) any child labour in this ship breaking yard? What were the working conditions of the labour? In Chittagong of Bangladesh, in the ship breaking unit one can find many child labour and the working conditions were horrible.
Child labour was unseen, at Alang, the labourers are now trained and need a certificate for working at the ships, there's a nice hospital too. It had indeed changed a lot since it's budding years.
Great 👍

@14:02 is a gauge for the rudder, to show the position is, when navigating from the "bridge wing" the outside area adjacent to bridge.
