- After criticizing me for my inaccurate tier lists, I had to have Paul join me for this one. So, before he headed back home, we sat down to rank the top DGPT players by how accurate they are. They make a valid point though, you don't get to be a great scrambler if you're always hitting the fairway I can speak from personal experience
@@roguesith94 I also don't think you get to be one of the 3 or 4 best players ever by being a sprinkler system, no matter how good of a putter or scrambler you are. Him and McBeth are rated the same, but by their placements here, Ricky would have to be so much better at everything else to equal Paul overall. It just doesn't make sense.
@@cwm180 I didn't say I agree with the ranking just that I can see where they're coming from. Since accuracy is actually a stat that is tracked I think they should have actually ranked players based on statistics
@@roguesith94 Completely agree about using stats. In 2020, Ricky was 7th in Fairway Hits, 3rd in C1 in Reg and 3rd in C2 in Reg. That indicates to me he's pretty far from a sprinkler.

Some people do try and get kids into disc golf though. I don't know why, it's a shit game for kids, they should be running around and having fun aka ultimate. Disc golf is good for when you're getting a bit older and can appreciate hanging out.

to be fair, They are saying Ricky is a sprinkler system off the tee with his backhand, which is a little true. he just kinda chucks it. for a top pro he misses his line off the tee a lot. He lives on his other-wordly scrambling ability and his ridiculous putts. off the tee though he isnt as accurate. Like they said, you do not come to be known as the best scrambler in the game unless you are scrambling alot.

My opinion Kevin, Ricky you have to be kidding? Andrew Presnell should be bullseye. He led the tour on fairway hit percentage.
Here’s my only problem with the way you guys did this list: When talking about a backhand dominant player like Conrad, you put him super high on the chart because he is very accurate, but only because he mostly throws backhands. When you rated a forehand player like Jerm for example, you factored in his backhand game way more than you factored in Conrad’s forehand. You gotta give the forehand dominant players a break with their backhands if you’re going to do the same for the backhand dominant players. Make sense?
Is Conrad's forehand a sprinkler system? I understand that he almost never throws the forehand but when he does it is very accurate. That is very different from the other guys. Having said that though, I think he should have been in the circle 1 or gets the job done because he often has a great round followed by a bad round.
The difference is that Jerm actually pulls out the backhand quite a bit, because he has to for certain lines and distance.
Conrad doesn't have forehand as part of his game. So it doesn't factor in. Big Jerm has backhand as part of his game so it factors in.
I think the shorter throwers naturally collect in the higher tiers, because if you're not bombing it, but you still hang with the best in the world, you're likely pretty accurate.
I always loved watching the lists, but this one with “sprinkler system” made me chuckle a few times out loud. Good one guys. Well played. 👏🏽

I absolutely love the Ricky in Sprinker System call. Bold move, but you truly nailed the reasoning. I'm always amazed how sporadic a 2x world champion can be.
Man, yall calm down about Ricky. What they said is 100% true. How many times you seen that dude miss badly off the tee and then throw the craziest scramble shot you've ever seen and park it. All the time. Greatest scrambler of all time and in the convo for circle 2 putter but not even close to the most accurate. They even said that. Yall chill. Lol.
I think it’s funny they put him there and I get their reasoning. That being said Rick was one of the best for fairway hits and c1 in regulation this year.

European Open hole 4... Simon clipped his drive to the trees on the right and got a bad kick to the left side of the fairway which is infamously tricky. With his trusty S-P2, he threw anhyzer shot OVER EVERYTHING and parked the hole for birdie. If you can do that, you are on the tier above the bullseye.
Uli's shot on 444 at BRP with a nuke to me puts him at circle 1 for sure.

I think it's more about the long putts. As they said, if you're constantly making these 50-60ft putts, you're not suuuuuuper accurate

If kevin isn't top tier at distance, or accurracy, how does he win so damn much?
His putting and his forehand accuracy, this list is taking both into account unless they do not use side arm much like Philo or James Conrad. Also most courses do not need Distance on every single hole so that one big over 600 foot hole he is getting par.
He is close to or in top 10 in every category and in top 5 in circle 2 putting and you do well that way. If are the best at 1 or 2 things and suck at everything, you don't win.
I would put Kevin to circle 1 though. He is great hyzerflipping midranges and putters.
GG was way too high. I think they put Ricky as sprinkler as a joke. He is too good player to be put to gets the job done.

@@DavidKantFriedrichHume Dickerson I would have in bullseye, but GG would be well below that in my list. I like watching GG play, but he isn't accurate.
Fairway hits is not a very good criteria to judge accuracy. GG throws massive 600 ft shots over the trees and lands off the fairway, but 50 ft from the basket. Someone else throws 2 shots to get to 50 ft, but hitting fairways. Having high fairway percentage can tell about accuracy or that player plays safe and doesn't take risks like GG or Simon.
I think the best way to measure accuracy is to see how they play in the woods in narrow fairways and see how they hit those lines.
This is a fun list, but accuracy is quite difficult to measure. Conrad is there because he is great with a putter, but he is no where near as good with drivers.
Someone is accurate from 300 ft and shorter and someone has better accuracy to 500 ft. Or Simon who is very accurate with big hyzer and crazy Simon lines, but he doesn't do well in wooded courses with tight gaps. Then there is smart play like I wrote earlier. Players who stays on the fairway do well in courses with a lot of OB, but are they accurate or smart of both.
Austin over Ricky is one of the most outlandish takes ever. Like if the Tilt became a person and started talking. The shit it would say. Loved every minute though!
Played with Cale Leiviska at the STL Open 2012. Unfortunately had to DNF 3rd round. Dude was awesome the entire round. I was nowhere near his skill level. Yet he never complained about my throwing. Never complained about my putting. And actually gave me advice through the entire round I played with him. Will always have more respect for him than Nikko. Also never realized I met Paul Ulibarri at the same tournament as Will Schusterick. Also Will shot a 54 at Sioux Passage that 2nd round. Completely dominated one of the hardest courses in the STL Area.
The two best players in the world, one is bullseye, one is a sprinkler system. That’s why I love disc golf, it accepts every game style and you can win, with enough hard work, with whatever style you have. Love this sport!

Proposition for the net tier list. Shot variety. Tiers could be something like "has every shot in the arsenal" (rollers, overhands, grenades etc.), "good variety of shots", "only basic shots (fore hand, back hand, putter shots)", "one trick pony"
This is a legitimate take, I like that Uli had a lot of input. He's like a whole previous generation of Pokemon compared to Simon.

Ricky is known as One of the Greatest Scramblers of All Time! You are only scrambling if you are a Sprinkler.
Agree about Ricky but I don’t agree with you about Eagle. He has god tier putting and god tier distance. If he ever gets bullseye accuracy overall on all throws at all distances he’d be unstoppable.

Wysocki is a bullseye. He makes massive putts for sure, but he's not smashing 60 footers like at The Preserve every round he plays. Those big putts just seem to edge him out to Win down the stretch.
I love coming to read all the arm chair disc golfers comments. Obviously we as fans will have greatly different opinions on some things than Simon or Paul who likely do not have as much time to sit around and watch video of all these players and can only speak from limited playing experience. Some of the comments are clearly meant as jabs at their friends such as constantly ranking Kevin Jones lower since Simon's girlfriend has a mini crush or trashing Big Jerm's game. Personally for the easily verifiable stats I'd like to see Simon bring in the players actual GIR or fairways hit % and where that puts them in the standings and then comment on why that might be or comment on form but that would be a lot more work and time than he has available. No one will ever be completely happy with your picks so just keep making fun content and giving us something to talk about
