Trying to get some good video of refinishing a couple of grundgy machines. I got in a hurry and skipped filming some steps so there will have to be a part two!
It's a lanolin degreaser originally intended as a hand cleaner for mechanics to remove grease and grime without stripping their skin off. the emulsifiers do a good job with loosening decades old oil and dirt.
Hello , I have Singer sewing machine of 1935. I would like to buy different types of presser foot. Can you suggest me from where I can purchase? Please help me with this.
It depends on which model, but most early Singers were fitted with "Low Shank" style presser feet. These are very common. You can buy a modern set with many styles of snap on feet or you can find a vintage set on ebay or at a thrift store.
Generally referred to as a "rubber" (because that's what you're doing with it), or a "fab" (I don't know why). Traditionally it would have been fine cheesecloth stuffed with scraps of absorbent material. You just want a small soft pad with something to hold on to that will act as a reservoir to hold some of the shellac and a little bit of texture for abrasion. I'm just using a piece of t-shirt knit with some scraps.
I dont' hear that well and had no problem with the audio or hearing you. Perhaps some of those who can't hear what you are saying over the music might turn on the captions?
This was extremely helpful. Showed a lot of good techniques for removing the grime. Thank you for sharing
For those having trouble hearing, click on CC in the bottom video toolbar. CC stands for closed caption and you can read what is spoken.
Can't wait to see part 2!

I was just given the same Singer sewing machine and need to fix her up. she runs but she needs love.
One thumbs up for you... and another for the Pink Floyd!
Thank you. Beautiful
i spent 10 minutes googling what gojo was, for non north americans it's supposedly like alcohol hand sanitiser

what kind of oil are you using?
Thanks for the info on refinishing. I have a 301 that needs a new shellac finish. Nice Music taste too.
Sorry.. can't hear you. :-) Music in the background,...
I´m half deaf and could hear him fine!
what do you use to dilute the Shellac with??
denatured alcohol
Neither of these are "rare" machines, and either would be a great candidate for a complete refinish with fresh decals - yes, they're available.
💯
Great video! What kind of shellac are you using?

@@paulmatulewicz1 Ok thank you that is what I bought yesterday :)
@@paulmatulewicz1 Do you know where to get decals from?
@@angelaakers7692 www.singerdecals.com is a good place to start. There's also a few enterprising individuals on Etsy if you want to hunt around.
@@paulmatulewicz1 Mine is a National/Western electric though not a singer
unable to hear due to the loud stereo!
stopped watching couldn't hear over the loud noise in the back ground
Turn off the loud music. You speak very softly and it is very difficult the understand.
Perhaps you should turn on the CC and mute the sound.
Imagine being this ungrateful to a guy showing showing you something that you didn't know how to do.
Where’s part 2?

was a helpful video but would have been better if i could have heard without the music and background noise
Considering it's A Red Eye, it's in rough shape! 😨
Best condition to practice on. Wait til you're more confident to work on that sentimental machine that you can't replace.
Where are the follow ups please

Music is too loud and annoying.
Bad idea to have rock music in the background whilst you are speaking. Very difficult to hear and follow what you are saying.!
Shut music off....very distracting!
Video is 6 years old. A little late for that.
Not too helpful. Appreciate the effort.
No need to whisper.
