Pokemon Silver is around $45-$50 for the cart. CIB would be like $160-$200ish I believe (they selling only the cart so almost double what its worth). Pokemon Silver is more valuable than Mario/Duck Hunt though i think a sealed one recently sold for $135. I've worked in "memorabilia" reselling, although it was sports collectibles. So some insight from the other side. This type of business is hard to be profitable in. The markups are so much because 1) There is value in circumventing the "search" process and being able to buy whatever from a wholesale source. 2) "Cost of goods" is usually higher with these types of services, so profit margins are harder to hit. The consoles are expensive because DK Oldies not only has to buy the units, but they also have to pay staff (salary, benefits, etc), pay for their facility and all of the expenditures, shipping materials, etc. When you're buying off of eBay, those sellers are usually only concerned with the market value of the product alone. I'm not whole heartedly defending them, but you're paying an upcharge for the convenience of the service. Yes, some of their pricing is off, but when you have to account for potentially 1000s of SKUs then not all of the pricing is going to 100% accurate in an ever-changing market.
If you spend the extra 60 they send you third party controllers half the time, not too mention if you want a refurbished console, you could get it chipped and they dont put new thermal paste on the chip in the consoles smh
For comparison: I bought my Japanese clear blue nintendo 64 for about 116 bucks. That came with everything needed to power it, and 4 controllers. YOU NEED TO PAY PROBABLY 300 BUCKS FOR THAT ON DK OLDIES, AND THAT ISNT EVEN A COLORFUL ONE. WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK...

I was able to get my hands on a Gold limited copy of Wind Waker bundled with Ocarina of time, and that costed $135 AUD. A bit pricy but pretty good for what you are getting. How much is DKOldies charging for a Standard limited copy of Wind Waker + Oot? $514 AUD. Jesus Edit: Oh btw, the actual most expensive item at dkoldies is Little Samson on the NES. Look at its price, and then question everything.
I bought a psp-3000 for $300 and it wasnt clean. The battery was bloated and didnt work, it had dirt and muck all over it, but they sure as fuck made sure to put that warranty sticker on it tho
ok that's WAY too overpriced. You can easily find psp-3000's for under 100 dollars on ebay in very good condition. Dk oldies are just straight up scamming people at this point. Honestly this might sound rude but if they continue selling such overpriced stuff then I hope the business goes under cuz that's just straight up robbing people.
And here I thought I was kind of ripped off when I purchased RE: Code Veronica X on Gamecube for around 100 bucks in a local gamestorw (mind you it was brand new/factory sealed), these prices are bafflingly absurd.
I mean Dkoldies is definitely over priced but you're way out of touch with retro gaming prices. An unopened Ps2 for 200? 🤣 you're looking anywhere between 500-1000 depending on model.
What are you smoking? 500 to 1,000$ for a PS2 sealed, hahaha. This bubble will burst, and people will be stuck with major losses, thinking they've got some super rare item when millions were made.
At those prices you would imagine you're getting a crisp and clean refurbished item, not a dusty still warranty sealed quarter century old beater console like we've seen from all the reviews...
The price isn't even worth it when they don't actually refurbish the consoles. Plus, you don't even get the original controllers; they want you to pay more money than it's worth for that!?
In my experience DK Oldies game quality is better than some retro game stores but in recent years there prices have been annoying and matches that of those retro game stores. I have seen worse pricing on games in stores but still DK Oldies pricing is bad. Cool video. ^_^
@History and Reviews my first purchase was Donkey Kong Country 3 for Super Nintendo It was like in the $ 30 range seeing prices of other games it's crazy. ^_^
To be fair, they supposedly clean, repair and/refurbish and their quality is pretty good. Mom & pops game stores won’t replace batterys in games let alone, clean and repair the pin connectors in the cartridge system consoles. They are a little pricey, tbh. It wouldn’t hurt them to properly price old consoles, they should have conditions that factor in price. Want to go cheap? Buy a scratched up, dinged console for a fraction. But if you’re a collector, you can get a better, cleaner looking console for more $$$ I suppose. Cause when things are out of print/not being made, the value already goes up. But video games are tricky cause now we can just emulate everything…. It’s a weird subject and hard to properly handle pricing and inflation.
I might be cheap, but I honestly don’t see the reason to buy brand new consoles, when you can buy a used one for half the price and it is still good, and sometimes they throw in a couple games or an extra controller
Pokemon Silver (for Gameboy Color) seems to average around $60 on ebay.. and a Gameboy Color console tends to be around $100, so definitely moderately overpiced compared to Ebay. Gamecube / Gameboy are becoming frustratingly expensive to purchase for from anywhere now. Totally ridiculous in terms of prices on DKOldies. Can't give them too much sh*t for the Gamecube / Gameboy GAME prices, but CONSOLE bundles (including Gamecube / Gameboy) are absurd. I can understand raising the console prices compared to Ebay if they actually refurbished them to a standard of quality, but they fake refurbish their consoles.
With more research; a loose copy of Pokemon Soulsilver goes for $130 on Ebay (for a real cartridge), while a fake cartridge of Pokemon Soulsilver is $30 on ebay. Also, by the way: an authentic copy of Stunt Racer N64 should only be around $400-$500 (not $800!) if looking for a real copy, a fake Stunt Racer N64 cartridge from China would be $20 or $30.
These prices suck, but I gotta say, about stunt racer, it sucks but because of its rarity that price for the box, manual, and the game is par for the course. I heard that a game sold for 1000 dollars a while ago, and it saddens me as an N64 fan that I won’t be able to afford it 😢
DKOldies has some absurd prices. I've seen games for older consoles at pawn shops for anywhere between $5 and $20 at the most. Usually I buy PS4 games as that's my main console. Most I've paid for a game was around $10, for a copy of Minecraft.
My local store sells a n64 for 100 with 2 games of your choice under 15 dollars . And it comes with official controller. Half the price of these dudes and with a official controller at no extra cost and you get 2 games for free. Dkoldies is one of the biggest scams I've seen in a while . Oh and the pokemon silver just the game no box is around 35 to 60 I'm seeing everywhere else . The original xbox same as the n64 at my game story 100 bucks with 2 games and controller . Dkoldies is selling this for 260 just for the console and cords and a chance of a og controller.
For Pokémon silver if they have the version they came in a silver box then it’s a good deal but it probably doesn’t come with the box and a regular silver copy is like 30-40 dollars
I don’t believe it comes in the box, you can look at his videos and see that he just bubble wraps the disc/Cartridge. I believe theirs a option on some of them where you can actually get the original box. With a extra charge, of course. But moral of the story is you should not buy from this site, this site is meant for people that don’t know very much about the industry. Basically being the apple of retro games.
I get it. They are maarketing SPECIFICALLY to the 30+ year old crowd that had $$$ to spend. But FMD - you can get much, MUCH better deals by spending 30 secs on already inflated EBay prices. They arent even trying. Anyone that uses there "service" deserves it. Inflation is already killing the market - just after Covid prices. Its a mess.

Yes because I totally want to buy a pokemon game for $800 fucking dollars. WTF are they smoking? Because it must be strong and I want some of it.
You can find RGB modded N64s and HD modded Wiis for cheaper than these prices
My refurbished PS2, came with the box + inserts + recipe from 2003 + manuals + genuine controller and genuine memory card. $150 + $5.95 shipping, I live in Australia.
You can get OEM N64 controller on eBay for like $10-15. Hahaha and people still give DK business
You have to pay EXTRA for authetic controllrs
That’s why it’s a scam
I was able to get my hands on a Gold limited copy of Wind Waker bundled with Ocarina of time, and that costed $135 AUD. A bit pricy but pretty good for what you are getting.
How much is DKOldies charging for a Standard limited copy of Wind Waker + Oot?
$514 AUD.
Jesus
Edit: Oh btw, the actual most expensive item at dkoldies is Little Samson on the NES. Look at its price, and then question everything.
Their prices are INFLATED
Just looked at the price for Little Samson, and omg. Can’t believe they’re trying to sell it for that much. 🤦🏻
*cost not costed
yikes just looked at the price and wowzers it goes a little over 2,300 … *GBP* !!! just can’t imagine what it’s like in USD…
I may be wrong, but I feel at this moment, specifically during making this video, ..you can not believe these prices.
I bought a psp-3000 for $300 and it wasnt clean. The battery was bloated and didnt work, it had dirt and muck all over it, but they sure as fuck made sure to put that warranty sticker on it tho
I would return it
ok that's WAY too overpriced. You can easily find psp-3000's for under 100 dollars on ebay in very good condition. Dk oldies are just straight up scamming people at this point. Honestly this might sound rude but if they continue selling such overpriced stuff then I hope the business goes under cuz that's just straight up robbing people.
Stunt racer on eBay is $400 just the cartridge only. But CIB one sold for $3000
How in tf.. HOW IS N64 007 GAME GONNA COST 67 DOLLARS??????
I got a ps2 slim and Nintendo wii from my local retro game store for 95 bucks together both in great shape
And here I thought I was kind of ripped off when I purchased RE: Code Veronica X on Gamecube for around 100 bucks in a local gamestorw (mind you it was brand new/factory sealed), these prices are bafflingly absurd.
Indeed
I bought an Xbox 360 with 20 games, 2 controllers, power supply, hard drive and Conker Live and Reloaded for 100$.
I can't believe there are still people trying to defend them
Bruh I've paid $40 for what they call Wii Sports Bundle listed for like $245
$255 actually oh wow
someone point to the right direction for retro consoles refurbished that you don’t spend so much for
Pokémon silver is a $20-$30 game lmao
Imagine spending $270 for a console that was released nearly 30 years ago...
Bought a copy of silver for $35 😂😂
I mean Dkoldies is definitely over priced but you're way out of touch with retro gaming prices. An unopened Ps2 for 200? 🤣 you're looking anywhere between 500-1000 depending on model.
What are you smoking? 500 to 1,000$ for a PS2 sealed, hahaha. This bubble will burst, and people will be stuck with major losses, thinking they've got some super rare item when millions were made.
bro this was hilarious, PLEASEEE make more of these reactions to stupid stuff 😭
I am making more as we speak
@@ItsTheCostanza THANK YOU! me and my friends were dying at 3 am reacting to you react to that $800 NES game 😂
@@Sporegrown my reaction was real, I never seen such a price for it even if it’s a collection item
I wouldnt mind seeing more reactions to this site tbh lmao
Stay tuned, I already have videos lined up
PLease tell me how many parent companies does DKoldies have? or do you still buy Nike?
It's like the person who priced those games is on drugs..what a surprise
Yet, Ebay goes far lower in prices...
The reviews are fake just like Joey
The amount of money people could save by joining a Facebook group or simply looking on eBay/Mercari is comical.
I use eBay mostly even though that’s not perfect either
@@ItsTheCostanza For sure, def better prices out there. Just have to watch for scams 👍
It’s B.S.
@@ItsTheCostanza it is BS, and they know it too.
DK Oldies is really messing with EBay pricing. Now all these people out here think their old systems are worth hundreds lol
That's just ridiculous with a little bit of patience you could get any console for the right price
Dkoldies might just start an uprising of emulation
In my experience DK Oldies game quality is better than some retro game stores but in recent years there prices have been annoying and matches that of those retro game stores. I have seen worse pricing on games in stores but still DK Oldies pricing is bad. Cool video. ^_^
Their prices were just as high 10 years ago
Whats most shocking is that they have customers
These prices make me sad too see. And I know a thing about being sad
Their prices are nuts! $255 for a Wii, 2 controllers, Wii sports, and Wii resort. What a ripoff
Even obscure Sega Saturn games don’t cost that much holy f*#k!
We live in a world where emulators exist
Playing on original hardware can't be matched.
@@califaern3sto your right, emulation is better. Upscaling technology is awesome.
@@ItzAbstract I'm good.
Resellers are unaware its a market thats gonna collapse soon. Its baffling. Noooobody is payin 200% mark up forever.
It's even more ridiculous that an AC to HDMI costs $25
I can buy that for $2 online
I have one and it sucks
There are copies of that Stunt Racer game that have sold on EBay for literally half of what DKOldies is charging.
Pokemon Silver is very popular. Its the 2nd gen of Pokemon games so it is worth some money but im not willing to pay $100-$120 for it
they selling pokemon silver for $100.
I paid 100 but it came with the original box and packaging from Ebay.
They're ripoffs
Sealed = sealed, Unsealed = open 😅😂
I paid $150 for my boxed ps2, (box was beat up) 2oem controller, memory card, and 10 games (mostly commons) from a local store.
Factss i was like damn brah they really evil over there, actually this whole gaming crisis where everything is OVER priced isn’t cool,
These prices suck, but I gotta say, about stunt racer, it sucks but because of its rarity that price for the box, manual, and the game is par for the course. I heard that a game sold for 1000 dollars a while ago, and it saddens me as an N64 fan that I won’t be able to afford it 😢
400$ is average for loose cartridge. They are charging almost double😂
only good deal ive gotten from them is fire emblem awakening for $50 which is around $15-$20 cheaper than what it's usually going for
That price is definitely accurate for Pokemon SoulSilver...hell that's the cheapest I've seen it for a boxed copy.
It comes from TikTok? Bro this company is made 18 years ago!
People didn’t know anything about them and talk tiktok came around
DKOldies has some absurd prices. I've seen games for older consoles at pawn shops for anywhere between $5 and $20 at the most. Usually I buy PS4 games as that's my main console. Most I've paid for a game was around $10, for a copy of Minecraft.
Bruh there selling a n64 for 50 dollars at the game store
This is my second comment but I'm just that angry 😡 these prices are pissing me off 😤
Yo ahh DMB if you think a 64 in a box cost 200
eBay price have already gone to shit
I can't spend $100 on a copy of retro game and then it gets delivered and NOT work. I'd spend my life ruining their appearance to the public eye.
I got Pokémon Silver for the gbc 2 years ago for 8 dollars here in México
Its a mess.
pokemon games are expensive, not THAT expensive but yeah, they are more expensive than new ps5 games for sure
“Unsealed”
Doesn't say much for their game inventory when the most expensive one is stunt racer. Lots of retro games way more expensive than 800 bucks.
